THANK YOU, so much for being my first replier! It makes you feel good that people recognize you and welcome you! I am curious...what doe the gold ring with the flame of fire mean?
See how new I am? But hey, I have kind people, like you, Astaliel, to help me along the Long Path of Knowledge...

Aww, you're so nice! Actually, I just registered on the 12th, and I don't know what the flame thingy means, but I think it is just for decoration. lol. I am honored to be your first replier! veryhappy If you have any more questions, just ask!

Hi ya Rune!!!!

Glad you could make it! I have not been home to check my mail, but obviously my instructions weren't so bad after all! lol

Ahh....that's actually a cauldron, and when there is a flame it indicates that the user is online, if it's out then so are you? We have put alts on most of the images, so if you hold you cursor over yours now, it will say "Rune of Mirkwood is online now" hehhe

Welcome to the community, may the Valar keep you and may no shadow cross you path during your journey here!

For the Love of Gandalf and all the Fellowship! I just checked my email this evening briefly, and the wonderful, warm welcomes I have received! I thank EACH AND EVERY ONE of you for being so kind, so receiptive, and making personal posts to my "introduction" - and to Fatty and Illuvatar, thank you so much for the instructions, the help in getting me registered, and answering my "fire in the caldron" question...and the cursor "secret" made me laugh!!! I tell you, there is much I need to catch up and give my own personal welcomes to all the Newbies ! Some of the Forum Members have hundreds of posts ! I am overwhelmed!!!! I feel like I am still in the Shire when they are all the way over in Rohan (hahaha...)
love to you all!

I am enjoying everyone's User Names, seeing where they are located in Middle Earth, and I still have to learn much....how do you post "quotes" on your thread, ? and I was wonderfing also, where do you click (while typing a new reply/thread) to get a little "emotion" icon in your Reply Box? The Rune is walking, but lost at the moment...

hey RoM (You don't mind the abbreviation, do ya?) welcome to WotR!

the way you get quotes is you press the rectangular "quote" button in the bottom right of the post box.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------v (down there)

and the smilies, have different codes.... for example: a colon : and a ) will make a smily face, :).... similarly, the word "thumbs" inside two colons makes ... the letter l o l (without spaces) will make a laughing face... (hence the "laugh out loud meaning) lol

just check out the F.A.Q. button on the top of the page.... but don't be afraid to ask questions, we're here to help!

:):)

My goodness, a BIG THANK YOU to Elvenwanderer, for all the information and I apppreciate your help on the Quotes and visiting the F.A.Q. page...in the Reply Box, while typing though...there is no QUOTE box to hit before Submitting. I will get the hang of it, sooner or later. I have only been posting a little tonight and as of yesterday. Thank you for your warm welcome and I prefer RUNE as to RoM...(RoM sounds masculine and like a new kind of computer memory --) I DO have a sense of humour(ahahah...:) - and I just made a happy face for the first time ! Big Step for The Rune...!

Kewl Rune!! no prob!

if i get this right.. check below the arrow in my post.... that's where the "quote" button is... :)

Hey hey hey!!! Look who's posting!!!

Go Rune!!! :gofatty: :gofatty: :whoohoo: :whoohoo: :whoohoo:

I just emailed you with some stuff, but listen, until you get used to posting, just click on the "Post Reply" button to the bottom right of each post. Use this for now instead of the gray quick reply box from within the thread.

It's much much easier and you don't need to know any of the codes. The smilies will be on the left and the buttons above will let you quote folks, bold your text, insert an image if that option's active in the forum your in etc.

Use that to reply to this, and let me know how you get on! And get this, if you click 'Get More' on the bottom of the smilie box....you will see all of the smilies we have and you just have to click on them to use them! Easy Peasy!!

Have fun!

Many welcomes Rune of Mirkwood :smooch:
(I haven't used that smiley for ages in a welcome post, but my French side just had to come out in this one hehe).

I'm glad that you have come to join the Family, and I hope that you enjoy your stay here.

If you need any assistance just ask...but you've done that already, so I'll shut up now lol

I've just seen your picture up in the Photo Gallery...very nice...very elvish hehe

Once again let give you a very warm welcome to the War of the Ring.

:elfeek: I wish to THANK Illuvatar for his constant kindness, help to me on posting to the Forum, and getting used to the Start of the Journey! I could spend hours here at this Forum...Everyone has been just splendid in their Welcomes and Postings! I didn't think Rune was a very long name at all...I don't use my "full name" in my correspondence.

Becaues of all the diligence and hard efforts on behalf of Fatty and Illuvatar, I now can see "The Silver Ring" and my own custom Avatar (Legolas's quiver and bows - with a flock of his hair) - THAT TOOK SOME WORK and it really made me feel GOOD to see them! We sure have a great Forum here and two wonderfully kind gentlemen, looking out for "their fellowship".!

Thank you Eorl the Young, for your beautiful statements and welcoming me...although, reading everyone's personal posts, up in the hundreds and some, even in the thousands, I am a mere 8 postings now...I am truly a Newbie. Thank you for commenting on my User Name as well...the short version of it is simply "RUNE" - I hope I can spend many more hours in this active, fun, creative Forum, but my time unfortunately, is very limited.

Awesome name Rune of Mirkwood.
I just recently learned how to use the smiley faces myself. And it looks as if you learned how to put a silver ring next to your Avatar. How did you do that?
There's so much to learn here and it's lots of fun. The folks are really nice to talk to and very helpful as you've found out.
We'll be talkin to ya.....

Welcome home, I mean, here.

Well, I've PMed you to answer your question. ;)
Anyway, Rune got the silver ring because she's a proud subscriber of WotR.
Any other queries regarding the silver ring, ask away (not in here though, via PMs or something), or check out the subscription page (http://www.warofthering.net/subscribers/subscription.shtml)
