Elvish Language Readers - New Discovery requires your help!!!

Those of us over at Haldir's Elven Archers ezboard Forum are making the Helm's Deep Elf Armor and we just recieved some high rez photos and low and behold, what to our wondering eyes should appear???

Elvish script on the hip armor!! WHOA!

At least to our novice eyes that's what it looks like.

Can someone who knows how to read this stuff and has an interest take a look at it and let me know what you think?

If you can make it out PLEASE let me know!! :) Of course we can copy exactly what we see for our costume (pretty much) , but knowing what we're writing would be such a novelty.

If you need a bigger picture, I can email you the biggest one I have... but it's HUGE so I haven't put it on line.

It probably says something like "if you can read this, you're probably dead." No, all kidding aside I have absolutely no idea what it says but the people here are more than knowledgable enough and I'm sure they can come up with something. They're bloody brilliant :)

It's difficult to tell what it says. It's not a very clear picture, plus the writing is in a cursive style of Tengwar. I can only make out the letters M, B, T, B, and P?. Obviously that doesn't say anything. I would need to see a better picture to help out any further. Go ahead and e-mail (KBinks78@aol.com) it to me if you like and I'll take a look.

hmmm... I checked that out, and I can see the words, but they don't make any sense. :
Be~bb, teb, and the last is obscure but it looks like b-t or something. THe other lines are pretty obscure too.
The person who wrote this probably didn't have the slightest clue on how to write in Tengwar, and they just wanted it to look cool.

Thanks a lot for those larger pictures! I was able to make out the words well enough to be sure of what they are (at least in most cases). But you're right, they don't make any sense at all. One thing is for sure, they aren't Sindarin. There is a letter used here that is not used in Sindarin. Another very weird thing, that just totally stumped me, is in the second one. There is a letter that doesn't even exist in Tengwar as far as I know! (if I'm wrong please correct me!) It is the most clear and visible of all the letters too, so I'm not just reading it wrong. It looks just like Ungwe, only backwards! Wierd. Anyway, the following is what I have been able to make out:

Top: Quenya = r d i l ó h w m p, Westron = i r h ó l k h v

Second: Quenya = p o -?- i t m b l i e h m, Westron = o p -?- i t b i e l h m

So yeah.....kind of a bummer, huh? It's too bad too, because PJ was really good about putting words that make sense on most everything else. I wonder why not here.

Thanks for the work you did! :) It is a real bummer there wasn't something interesting written on there...

Someone on a costume list I belong to (Leiasky) suggested it might be initials... but the fact that there are strange letters on there just makes me think they had an artist who was glancing at elvish and just freehanding with liberty....

In anycase, I'm going to put some real writing on my costume. :D
