Does anybody here play the LoZ series? I think they are one of the best series ever - the characters have so much depth, and the storylines are fantastic! The first Zelda game I actually played was OOT, and I was hooked straight away. The mindblowing scale of the game is enough to make you realise that this is going to be a long and extremely fun ride.
My favourite points include the transformation of young Link to adult Link, and nothing can top riding Epona across Hyrule Field with that great orchestral soundtrack, it's just like LoTR!
This is one of the games I just couldn't put down. I can't really think of anything negative about it! The game has a great learning curve, and imaginative bosses and enemies, plus a great deal of humour (Twinrova, anyone?)
I recommend this game, and its sequel, Majora's Mask, to anybody. Can't wait till the Wind Waker!

Alatar: OOT isn't the first Zelda game, there have been loads of them before that on NES, SNES and Game Boy (the Game Boy ones are also awesome, but I haven't played the NES/SNES ones). I suggest you try them too!
Olorin: What was it like? I heard there was a bit too much sailing which was tedious - do you agree?

I love the LOZ series. I've completed A Link to the Past, Link's Awakening, Ocarina of Time and Majoras Mask. Getting Wind Waker next month. They're so great, many have imitated and failed :)

The sailing is kind of fun, but eventually you can get a song which will warp you to different places around the map. It was so cool, it was like a continuation of OOC final battle was the greatest.

Ah, that's useful, just like how the Ocarina warped you around in OOT! That should be good - I hated all that walking you had to do! pfbbt If the final battle's anywhere near as good as Ganondorf/Ganon, it should be awesome!

Now that was an awsome boss fight

I know, TRB! :) The coolest part was running out of the collapsing castle (a great twist, and really nerveracking!) I also loved it when you thought that you'd beaten Ganondorf, and then...rumble... a gigantic monster emerges from the rubble...the size of that thing! lol

I too am a Legend of Zelda fanatic, and have been since the NES/SNES days.

One of my all time favorite video games is Ocarina of Time, and The Windwaker is beyond superior in hours of exceptional gameplay.

Thank you TRB
Do you like my new avatar? ;)
I'm going to post some more new topics soon, when I have the time, but for now:
What was your fave boss battle in OOT? And which one did you find the hardest?
My fave was probably Volvagia, as I love dragons, and the ones I found hardest were Phantom Ganon and Morpha, though it's easy to beat them once you get the hang of it. I'll have to play through the game again, I have such fond memories of it...

Yeah your avatar's great.
My fave boss was probably Phantom Ganon, Twinrova or the Real Ganon at the end. Hardest was probably Morpha but again, that one is just frustrating.

Wind Waker is AMAZING!! Just got the boat and yes, sailing is great fun.

Thanks TRB!
I'm really looking forward to TWW... I made the stupid mistake of not pre-ordering it however, so I'll just have to hope that it's there when I go shopping tomorrow... fingers crossed!
What's the cel shading like? I've heard it's really good when you see it in action. I'm also looking forward to the game's epic sense of scale, i.e. when you approach an island in your boat, more details emerge etc.

The cel shading is incredible. Explosions of purple cloud animate soooo well. Fire and water animates great as well and it really is breathtaking sailing across the sea as the sun rises beside you. :hooray:

In Wind Waker, I'm in the Forbidden Woods but can't seem to find the Boss Key... it's been a long time since I've played Zelda after all... I must be getting rusty lol

May 8th,2003, 08:39 PM
awww I hope your game isn't erased. Its frustrating to play a small part over let alone the whole thing again! Oooo I've got 199 posts now...ooooooo

Good going on 200, Ig. ;) My game had better not have been erased - I spent so much time on it! If it has, I'm returning that memory card. At the moment I just put the pearls back into the statues and am inside that temple place.

well I guess this would be my 200th post...ooooo! Thanks for noticing YB! I guess I would do the same if I were you. Those pearls, I guess you mean those things from Valoo, The deku tree and that frog god. I hope that it'll be ok!

Well here goes.
I have been round a friends for the weekend and have basically spent the time playing both of our wind waker games. I completed it yesterday!!! I say completed, but I have still got treasure and heart stuff to get but I beat the end boss and saw the credits for the first time. And can I just say it is one of the BEST boss fights ever! Seriously, it comes very close to, if not better, than Ocarina of Time.

If you want to here about it PM me and I will gladly tell, seeing as there are some spoilers to be had. To those still approaching it, it is great ;) :hooray:

Oh wow, I remember back in the day when I was obsessed with these games... But only OOT and MM; I never got Wind Waker but I didn't like its style when I played it anyways.

I even actually came up with a cheat for OOT - when fighting Volvagia, when he comes out of the hole to drop rocks/breathe fire on you, just hang off the edge until he goes back in. He can't hit you, and you won't fall off unless you press A. It's kind of cheap, I know, but he's not that hard anyways. lol
