Hey WarRingers ...

Algy is down today ... you may be asking yourself why ...

Well, I have to set this up bu going back in time a couple of years. December 10, 2000, my wife (then girlfriend) Mary and I were returning home form work. It was midnight and there was little traffic on the road. A large truck was up ahead driving quite slow and eventually I was in a position to either reduce my speed far below the limit or pass. I decided to pass. Little did I know that the driver of the other vehicle was leaving the pub and quite intoxicated. As I was passing, the other driver cut over into my lane and I did nopt have time to react. I only remember seeing his rear bumper against my windshield and then a late night trip to the hospital. My wife suffered some slight injury but I was left with damage to my neck that will persist as a lifelong aggravation. Anway ... we went through a few years of litagation and only 2 months ago were successful in seeking financial damages. So, we took our money and bought a couple of automobiles and other essentials.

I ended up purchasing a 2000 GMC Sonoma 4x4. A very handsome truck with lots of power and all the extras. I've been driving this gem for a couple of months and its been heaven! So ... this afternoon, I had some friends over and we were playing our guitars and recording some tracks. We had been playing for maybe an hour and I realized that we needed some soda, so, I left my buddies here and went to the store to get something to drink. As I passed by a nearby liquor store, I noticed that there was a motorcycle show with all the noise and energy that sort of event attracts. I drove past and came to the straight stretch of highway that lies between my house and the store. Suddenly, one of the bikes that was at the show (the one that actually won best appearance) was closing fast on my truck. I figure he must have been travelling over 100 miles/hour . While attempting to pass me on the shoulder of the road, he lost control of the bike and slammed into the passenger side of my truck. The impact ripped gaps in the metal of my truck and punctured the front tire. The riders (there were two) were thrown over my hood and skidded quite a way along the shoulder ... eventually stopped by an intersecting guard rail. The driver was scatched up but his passenger, who was on the back of the bike and was his son, suffered some appearent head injury and I'm guessing some internal bleeding. Eventually, all the medical and police vehicles arrived at the scene and perofrmed their duties. The driver of the motorcycle was unable to produce any proof of insurance so they impounded his bike until such time that he can produce proof of an insurance carrier. I really hope that he is able to because I was carrying a simple liability policy since my truck was paid and full coverage insurance premiums are outrageous.

So ... Algy is down today ... mecry mecry mecry . I hate driving and I wish the automobile had never been invented! Give me horses anyday!

Hey there Algy my friend.

I'm very sorry and saddened as I sit here reading this. I can't imagine the pain and trauma that you must be going through, not only for yourself, but also for this man's son. I am very gratefull that the resulting impact did not take the life of either of the riders, and that you my friend were not injured in any way physically.

As Catz said, and from your story as you told it, this has brought up some serious pain and trauma associated with your previous accident. I only hope that holding your wife and son can bring you the relief and comfort that you need.

I'm not sure if you still have my home number, but please pm me with yours if you like. We can sit and talk a bit mate.

All the love in the world, from my family to yours.

Yes, take care. At least you are not at fault. It is a pity people cannot be more resposible on the roads, especially when they have children onboard. Hope all ends up well.

Hey that's awful - hope it's all sorted out soon.
take care of yourself - you have my sympathies.
No fault of yours - I can't believe some drivers. A friend of mine had something similar happen to her, just not nice.
Hope it works out OK for all envolved.
