i have to say that i have been on quite a few forums in the past but this one has loads of separate forums and i feel too many as you get overloaded and miss stuff

well. many people say that we need more forums as they don't know where certain things should go....

i think that at the moment we have just the right balance of forums, not too many, but also not so few that they all become really kinda vague and unfocussed. the way we have it i think it's easier to find what you are lookiung for if it's something specific.

Yup. Sometimes, it's better to have separate forums for separate stuff that we are discussing in detail, especially forums that deal with the nitty-gritty bits in LotR. That's what I feel. ;)

well id suggest that the first place you go is the Pony.........just have a read and get the feel of people........
then, its up to you.........go for your interests.........do you love the books deeply?.........head to the library where they have discussions on LOTR, the Sil, the Hobbit and other books by JRR as well as other books..........if you love the movies, head to Amon Hen, where each movie is discussed, as well as other movies and costume and makeup fo the LOTR movies......if youre just after a giggle, go to humour.........for the languages of ME, and to contribute to or just read the fan fics or to discuss music or art head for Bree and weapons and tactics and such are all in Dagorlad
i know it looks overwhelming at first........but it has a logic, and it wont take you long to get comfy...........and if your looking for something and you cant find it, dont forget you have a search function, and that the mods and admins are always around to help if you need it........just a PM away
hope you have fun:cool:

I like the forums here. Some places have only one for all the movies and it gets crowded and hard to find stuff. Having more forums makes it easier IMO

Ah don't worry about that. Just follow your heart ;) lol
You just have to look at the descriptions below the various forum names and you'll know where the discussions of the area of your interest lies and just pop over in there!

wow! i went to the fanfic section...and i read smething that seemed relatively short. it was so good!! (GG...your poem is what i'm talking bout if you ever come here!) lol

i still won't be going there very often though cos i have absolutely no attention span so i'd only ever read a few posts from each story and get bpored! lol

GG never seemed the poetic type.

I have certain forums I visit regularly, the rest I just pop in every now and then if I have extra time (and we all have that don't we lol )

Don't let him see this :nono: lol

Yup, I subscribe to the threads that I visit regularly. That really helps, you wouldn't have to go scanning the whole forum to look for a particular thread.

i have to be agree with this topic, i think there are too many thread in here

Too many threads? Well, normally, we merge threads of similar topics together. we usually leave a thread as it is if it is of some significance or isn't a repetition of topics. If there are too few forums/threads, it'll be rather difficult to discuss certain things in detail since everything's cluttered together and there'll be too many different discussions going on in the same area, and that'll be pretty confusing. People will not get answers to their questions since there'll be a higher chance that their posts will be missed.

In fact, new cafe/eatery threads in the Prancing Pony are being banned now as there are too many such similar threads there.

yes in the beginning mana everything seems very big and very overwhelming (i remember i only stayind in one forum for a long long time... untill i got used to it .. then i went to others gradually) it just takes a lot of getting used to ... i have to agree there are a lot of threads here... but like win said they are all specific tosomthing and make things easier

May 24th,2003, 04:32 PM
lol Cuz i did so too lol

This place is rather overwhelming, I agree, but isn't it great we get to discuss a vast variety of topics? ;) And it's not neccessary that you have to visit every single nook and corner of the forums. Just visit the threads that you have an interest in.

its really hard to keep up in heremecry

Winyaél Greenleaf
May 24th,2003, 07:05 PM
relax lol If you need any help, just PM the admins or the mods (click on the Forum Leaders to identify them) or just basically PM anyone. We'll all be glad to help. lol

I guess it's hard to keep up cuz there are so many members posting everyday. What I suggest is to subscribe to the threads you always frequent, so you can keep track of them easily. And when you come back to a thread click on 'go to first unread post' so you can continue reading all the posts from where you left off. Then you'll be able to keep up!
