Well I've read it... nice story, many hidden meanings as in all the Tolkien short stories... what do you have in mind?

I think what I had in mind was to accomplish a Tolkien reading. I love happy Hobbit stories and faeries and trolls amd magicl But I never finish a book during the academic year because I'm so friggin' busy - SWM is so short and so sweet, I figured it is one thing I can accomplish - three nights of attempted reading and I'm only on page 24 of 63. (but with 6 picture pages - so I'm half way. Is that not sad? But I find it very encouraging and I tackle Unfinished Taled next - having already been befuddled by the first three sentences.
I DO LOVE hidden meanings, though rarely see them without a little assistance. Give me the weekend, Mirkmouse, then let's analyze, pretty please!!! Yippee! Thanks for noticing my post!

I read this book quite a few times. It is a pleasant story and very enjoyable. :thumbs:

I'm a little more than half way - it's extremely pastoral. I see hints of underlying social commentary, but it's not clear. Have you hear that certain events in the story represent event in Tolkien's time or that the trees, characters, star represent something special. I've always stunk an analysis but LOVE finding out the intended/hidden meanings.
