Hey everybody! You know what would make RotK rated R? I think we all forgot about our little Orc friends throwing their own w/ Gondorian soldiers heads over the walls into Minas Tirith!:o mecry How will PJ deal with this? Will he even put it in there? Tell me your thoughts!

I hope he does.

I think it will show the ruthlessness of the enemy, the desperation of Gondor, and will really make the newbies cringe. ;)

I don't think this should push it to an r rating if its not in any bloody, gorey detail.....

He showed Aragorn beheading Lurtz so theres no reason why he wouldnt show that.

Oh, I dont care about it being rated R, because by the time ROTK comes out, my sister will be old enough to see R films without an adult (I always go with my sis)

What does R translate as in England? 12 or 15?

Translate? What do you mean?

Britain and the US have different rating systems, he's wondering what an R rating would qualify for in Britain.

By the way, I have no idea. :)

i think the ratings are based more on gory detail...so as long as there are no loving close ups of dead heads or buckets of blood we should be fine:rolleyes: lol
As to the US restrictions.....youve got me

American censors tend to be more concerned about sexual content than violence....(parents are, anyways), so unless they'll be something....unexpected :o ..... happening in TT, or there is extreme, Gladiator level violence, it should remain pg-13. That is, no one under 13 permitted without a guardian.

I honestly don't think the heads will be a problem, if its not too... in your face.

So a 12 then?

Pil

nah...i reckon its 15... *pil whispers to aragorn_isildur* I always wondered too...! I think i'm right though... ;)

This thread just shows the lack of people visiting the campaign trail...poor forum section... :(

I think that the whole of LOTR should have been a 15...could have made the most of the battles...(can tell i liked gladiator!) :battle:

"in your face"...nice one! lol roflmao lol

I agree that it wouldn't bump up the rating for that...they'll probably keep it on the subtle side...if it's included at all that is... :read:

They should totally show that.

I think they better show it in some way, because after Helms Deep they will need to make the Pellanor Fields somehow more climactic. (That and the Mumakils ramming the gates and maybe the trenches filled with fire.) So I think they will be OK if they don't show any close ups of heads. More dramatic would be to show the faces of the living people behind the walls when they look upon them. I remember the last scenes in 'SE7EN' how well they did the exposure of poor Gwenyth Paltrows head in that box, all we saw was - well, nothing - but it sure was powerful anyway. (I don't remember what that movie was rated).

Yeah ... decapitated heads aren't a plot necessity but it sure would be great if they adhered to the books throughout the battle. I agree with the opinion that the Pellenor Fields has to be larger and badder than Helm's Deep due to the climatic flow of the cinema (although Helm's is still my favorite!).

I don't think that decapitated Orc heads will prompt an "R" rating. How often do we see dismembered creatures in PG-13 flicks? No worries my comrades!

Nessa

Decapitated people heads, not orc heads........:)

But I still don't think it would push the rating to an R...

Peter Jackson is contracted to make all 3 films PG-13...so...I don't think we have to worry about ROTK being R.

Does anyone ELSE agree that they should have all been 12s or 15s? :battle:

In the U.K. the ratings go:

U - Universal, anyone can go watch.
PG - Parental Guidance, anyone can go watch but it is advised that small children see it with their parents.
12- You have to be 12 to go see it.
15- You have to be 15 to go see it.
18 - You have to be 18 to go see it.

FOTR was rated PG here...and i thought that if it was to have the same kind of spirit and...thrust, that the books provide, then it should have been made into a 12 at least...15 even.

Can someone do one of these rating explinations for the U.S. version? Cos us British get all confoosed over 'R' ratings etc... :duh: lol

Go here to see ratings. It wouldn't let me copy and paste.

While I was looking, I found this little review of the video:

BUT THAT MEANS IT WAS RATED HIGHER IN THE STATES! It was rated PG-13 right? That would be a 12 here....but it was only PG. :o

But if they make the movie a 15, then what about all the little kids who were sitting in front of me dressed up as hobbits for FotR, they'll miss out on seeing the rest until the DVD/VHS comes out. To be honest during the fellowship, I jumped more than those little kids did the whole way through, and im 15......

A! Elbereth
August 16th,2002, 08:32 PM
Can't they see it if a parent was with them?

Pil
August 18th,2002, 09:20 PM
No. In the U.K. an eight year old (for example) can not go to see a 15 rated film...even if they are with their parents.

I know it would be foolish to cut out some of their previous audience...i'm suggesting that maybe it should have been a 12 or 15 from the beginning...so the audience wouldn't have been there in the first place. :)

they should be allowed to see it if a parent goes with them, even if it's rated higher. that's kind of dumb
