I saw a figure being thrown against a tree in the darkness. I knew it was my brother, though in the fading light it looked only like a broken pile of nothing. But, no, this was my brother, Luthil, my only brother which I held dear to my heart. My brother let out a resounding scream, that last throw had broken his back.
I pulled against my bonds that held me to a nearby tree as I spit out as many curses as I could muster, but, of course, in Quenya they sounded like a river trickling and tripping in the early spring, or a lark singing in the early dawn. But, no, my captor turned to me with a snarl, HE knew Quenya!
"No matter how much evil you spout, my dear maid, it will not save him." that evil thing that could hardly be called an elf pointed to the heap by the side of the tree,
"No, because of your disobedience both he,you, and all of your family will be tortured and killed in the most painful ways known to Middle-Earth!"
I snarled, but could think of nothing to say, nothing that would save my brother, but only things that would make Xedim cause him more pain.
Xedim, self proclaimed "Lord of Dark". That putrid, ugly beast that could only be known as Xedim, he mingled in all things Morgoth had created, as if to contradict everthing he was. He had tried to change his apperance so that he might look diffrent from elves, but still fair. In the end his skin began turning green, until it looked almost blue. How he had done this was not known to Middle-Earth.
Xedim walked over to what must have been my brother and yelled,
"Do you hear that Luthil? Your family will be tortured, forever if possible, and there is not a single thing you can do!"

He walked off, leaving my brother and I alone. I hung my head, was there nothing to be done? I strugled with my ropes again, to no avail. I roared, "Xedim, payment is due, and your price is death by my hands!" I struggled and wriggled, and gritted my teeth. I remebered, hope! I smiled, I could be free! I might even be able to save my brother! I had a dagger attached to my arm, if only I could wriggle enough to make it slip out of it's sheath! I almost jumped up and down, despite the pain from the ropes, when it finally slipped out. I looked around and hoped that no evil force had been sent by Xedim to guard over us. I took the dagger in my tied hands and began slowly sawing. I gazed at my brother, was he breathing? Yes, barely breathing. The ropes finally snapped, and I flew to my brothers side. Ignoring the pain from being tied so long, I cradled my older brother's upper body in my lap as I stroked his head.
"Tiona, my sister." I heard him gasp. Tears rolled down my cheek as full relization hit me, this was my brother! "Luthil, my brother." I said as he relaxed in relization that he would not be hurt anymore. He cracked open his eyes, stared at me, put his hand to my face and whispered,
"Tiona, I am dead."
I put my brothers hand to my face,
"No! You will survive this ordeal!"
"I have failed you."
I shook my head,
"Not failed my brother! You have fought to the very last of your strength!"
"It was not enough, you are now our family's one defense."
I hung my head and wept openly, then looked up at him,
"You leave life with honor and valar. Rest assured, vengance will be ours!"
"No," smiled Luthil with his last breath, "Vengance is assured unto you."
His hand fell from my face, and so ended Luthil, only sone of Rathil, and my only brother.
Meanwhile, unknown to me, someone else was having thier sorrows...

A cloaked figure moved among the trees. Her eyes flashed red and she was muttering to herself.

'The idiot's going to get us all killed.' She thought to herself as she walked through the thinning forest.

She threw back her hood and moonlight illuminated her midnight black hair, pale face, and the scars that adorned it. She pulled her sleeve back, revealing words in black. Her instructions.

'I've finished this then.' She said mentally as she pulled her hood back over her head.

'I need to get back. Xedim hates it when I'm gone.' She thought as a high-pitched whistle emerged from her lips. A stallion come at her call.

She smiled and mounted the stallion.

'Come Morrandir. Let's go home.' She whispered into his ear. He snorted and took off into the east. The figure's cloak spread into the wind as her hood blew back.

She gave a loud triumphant yell into the plains and shook her head, liberating her hair from the bun it had been held in for so long.

"NO!!!!!!!!!!Don't hurt him, please! He's but a child!" I heard a woman scream. She was a mortal woman of about 30 years and she was not a rich woman. She had no affairs with the world around her, yet her husband's fate had doomed their family.
"SPEAK NO MORE, MORTAL! Shut you're mouth or you shall pay the consequences!" With that the orcs tied the woman to a tree next to her son and daughter. I wanted badly to help right at that moment but of course leaving my hiding place would foil our plot to save the whole of the village. I ran quickly to the bush where my brother was lying on the ground. He motioned for me to lie down and look through the bushes with him. Then he gave me the sign to get ready to start the plan. But, as he slowly got up and drew back his bow and fitted an arrow to the string, an orc turned and looked in his direction. Immeadiately my brother was shot in the chest. Not paying heed to myself I jumped up and shot the orc, being quicker than my brother. I threw my sword and hit another in the head. I shot the other two quickly and then dropped to my knees at my brother, Beriaden's, side. But to my dispair he was already gone. I wept for him and kissed his forehead but I heard more Orc devils coming towards the village. I ran my fingers through his fair hair one last time, closed his beautiful eyes, and ran to the villager's aide.
I quickly set them free and led them to a safe place until the Orcs passed. After I was sure the Orcs were gone, I went back for my brother and blade. I called my horse Ithilroch and put Beriaden's body on him and sent a young man with my horse to the nearest town to find my sister and tell her of all the events. I then took my brother's horse Mithiren and led the villagers to an encampent of other tragic families. Little did I know that the next day I would meet another she-elf, in my predicament!

(Sorry about this, but I can't just sit here and let Tiona do nothing!)

I flew through the forest, where I was and which direction I was heading quite a mystery. I was in a forest, which, of course, could have been anywhere! I brushed the hair from my face and put it behind my pointed ears, if I didn't find a village or city of somekind soon I would have to hunt.

I traveled for at least an hour, when I finally heard something. I hurried forward, dagger drawn in the case it was a foe. I came out of the forest, on a hill that overlooked a small village. I gasped, had Xedim continued on his rampage of death? The city was being devoured by scourching flames. I looked in the far, far distance and saw specks that could only have been survivers from Xedim's reign of terror. There was only one alternitive, to follow them.

Morrandir galloped on and the figure astride him scanned the plains surrounding her constantly. When she reached a wooded hill she dismounted and gave a low whistle.

The gate creaked open and she stole into the fortress.

'We were expecting you days ago Dawn.' The door warden said as he pushed the gate shut. His assistant cleared his throat and the door warden looked at her with panic in his eyes.

'Mistress, I mean.' He said quickly. Dawn laughed.

'I am no such thing. You may call me Dawn when we're alone Dulossch.' She said to the mortal. Dulossch nodded gratefully and Dawn walked to the stables.

She walked Morrandir to his stall and called for one of the stable hands to rub him down and feed him as she left.

A cloaked figure perched on a hillside watched a village burn. Green eyes flickered with the firelight far away, and screams of terror sent a message that all had been done.

A grim smile passed over the figure's face and she snickered.

With a silent command, her dark mount turned and fled down the hill back to the outpost. Time to regroup.

Dawn entered one of the low buildings that distinctly reminded her of something in her past.

She smiled evilly and then collapsed into a low wooden chair. A tall mortal brought her a goblet of wine and hastily retreated out of Dawn's hand range.

'Where's Mornie?' She asked after drinking a sip of the wine.

The mortal was silent. Dawn placed the goblet on the floor next to her feet and rested her chin on her index fingers, her ears faintly red in her annoyance.

'She's not here.' The mortal blurted out quickly. Dawn's eyes flashed red and she threw out her right hand. The mortal flew across the room and thudded against the wall, several sickening crunches were heard as he hit the floor.

'I gathered that.' Dawn said coolly as the other mortals in the room watched her fearfully. She bent over and retrived the goblet as she left the room and slammed the door behind her loudly.

The mortals in the room cringed in unison as the door shut and eventually went back to their business.

Though the group of, what I presumed to be survivers of the burned city, were at least two days away, I traveled faster than them, for they were a large group and moved slowly.

Of course, since the dark had accended, I had to stop not long after I began to follow them. The city was still quite near, and the flames continued to lick the flimsy, straw thatched homes. I decided not to build a fire, that would be too lengthy with not having anything but the trees to my left. I decided that insted of sleeping on the bare field that I would sleep on the outer edge of the forest.

When I reached the forest, I felt a presence. I did not know how, but somehow I knew that I was not alone. I drew my dagger and continued into the wood, hoping that there was not more than one of what lie in waiting.

I heard her before she saw her. Quietly, I drew a one of my daggers in my left hand, and backed into a tree. My Mirkwood cloak hid me from all eyes… especially in the dark.

When I heard the loud footsteps close to my hiding place, I waited until I saw who it was. Silently, I stepped behind them, and placed my hand over their mouth, my dagger going directly to their neck, ready to slice...

“Move, and I will kill you. Drop your weapon. Now.” I whispered quickly in her ear, my voice raspy and unrecognizable. When she did not move, “I will not hesitate… but I will make it as painful as possible.” Finally, she dropped her dagger, and I let go of her mouth. I opened my hand, and the dagger flew into it.

The girl spun around to look at me, her face filled with fear and anger. Her clothes were torn, and in worse condition than mine, which were almost two thousand years old. “Who are you?” She growled forcefully. “What are you doing in the forest?”

“I believe I should be asking you that… but I will answer.” I hesitated, trying to decide whether to use my real name… and rank. “I am Authwen Ranirel, wife of Gil-galad Ereinion.” I didn’t blame her for being scared, I must have come across as rather frightening.

“I can be your friend if you tell me who you are,” I tossed her dagger in the air, and made it hover in front of her. When she went to grab it, I moved it just out of her reach. “And if I believe you.” The girl jumped to retrieve it, and with a small wave, I held her immobile in the air also. “Speak. Quickly, as you never know who is a follower of Xedim.”

I looked around at the villagers. They all looked exhausted and confused. None of them knew whether to trust me or not, but were to tired and anguished from the loss of their homes and some of their family members. But there was one girl, who spoke openly about me.
"Who are you? How do we know that you are not a follower of Xedim?" she asked.
"I would ask the same question, if I were in your predicament. But there is no time for such answers. Just trust me and I will you answer you on a slightly later date." With that I sensed a prescence in the far woods behind me. I looked to see something moving. I told some of the stronger villagers to take over the camp and grabbed Mithiren and rode as fast as the horse could go to the edge of the forest. There I dismounted and sent the horse back to the camp. I ran for about an hour until I could see two figures about a half mile away from me. I hid behind a tree and unsheathed my sword. I listened in on their conversation but I couldn't here much.

A massive black horse strode heavily into the wood. Its rider dismounted and whistled under breath. As Mornie led Carandae through the hidden gate and to his stall, one of the attendents came to her and gently tugged her sleeve.

She cast her eyes to him and he bowed low, in fear. "The mistress is looking for you," he sputtered nervously. "She was in the main hall, last i heard."

Mornie gave a silent nod, and motioned the attendant to care for her horse. She proceeded in the direction of the hall, when Dawn strode angrilly up before her.

"Have you been killing servants again?" Mornie asked, a mocking and sarcastic tone taking her voice, "They seem particularly jumpy tonight." She stared coolly into the half-blood's mirky eyes, unafraid, and waiting for a reply.

"Fine." I said, drawing myself up to full height,
"I am Tiona, only," I stammered,
"Only living child of Rathil. I was, was taken captive by," I stammered again, not sure if I could trust this stranger, but I finally sighed, deciding that if she was a follower of Xedim that he should know sometime, and said,
"by Xedim himself. And," I lifted my hand and the dagger zipped through the air and back to my hand,
"You are not the only one who can surprise others."

I smiled. This could be no thing of evil, I felt the magic running through her veins when she took the dagger. "Good."

I resheathed my sword, turned and started to walk away, smirking as she yelled after me, "Hey, aren't you going to be kind enough to let me down?" The stammering and nerves all but disappeared.

I faced her. "Surely, if you can take the dagger, then you can let yourself down, young one. I am confident you do not need my help. And, I have been kind, you are alive, after all." Nonetheless, I waved my hand, and she fell unexpectedly to the ground. I walked back over and put my hand down to help her up, which she reluctantly took. I was careful not to let her spin me around and have that dagger at my throat.

"It is an honor to meet you, Tiona, daughter of Rathil." I put my hand to my heart, and a light flashed as a warning on my left wrist. "We are not alone." I whispered.

I nodded my head and smiled. She smiled back, and I quickly asked,
"Did you see it burn?" she looked at me,
"The city I mean. I was not here then, I have only been in the area of the town for less than a day," I said, "but I believe I have located some of the survivers,"
I turned in the direction of the large group I had been folowing,
"About a day's journey from here." I turned back to her and I was battling with myself over wether or not I should ask if she would like to come with me in folowing them, when she said...

"Would you mind if I tagged along? Walking through the woods alone at night is not a very intelligible thing to do. Both of us will be safer. I know my way around slightly." I replied when she seemed to be frustrated. "I was not here either, I have come from the East, seeking my people."

I nodded, and she ran off in the escapee's general direction. I felt a prescence watching us before I turned to follow.

I tried to get closer to the pair. They did not seem to know each other as they looked to be fighting. I crept up closer and closer until I was about 1/4 of a mile away. They seemed to be elves, like myself, so I didn't dare get any closer. I overheard them say something about Xedim but I was not sure what it was exactly what it was. Then I heard one of them say "we're not alone" Oh No! Have I been caught?!

Mornie looked at her with returned annoyance. "Thanks," she uttered, irritated under her breath. There was an array of throwing daggers on a table near the door. She picked up three and strode to the center of the room. Her body straightened and she held the dagger by the blade far out in front of her. As quick as slightning she pulled her arm back and snapped the small knife through the air. It clove into the target inches to the left of the bullseye.

She studied her hit and turned to Dawn. "What's next?"

Both Tiona and I turned, and I drew my sword. It met hers, and I spun my arm so that her sword flew out of her reach. Tiona waved her hand, and the sword flew into it, she in turn pointed the sword back at the girl. I gathered we worked well as a team.

"Careful..." Tiona said.

We both took a few steps forward, causing the intruder to back up into a tree. The girl put her hands up, and under her chin, showing she was giving up.

"Who are you, is a better question to ask." I said, calmly. "I'm not used to being snuck up on by one of my own people... she-elf." I put my sword down, but Tiona still held the girl's sword to the her neck. "It's all right, she's one of mine..."

Slowly, Tiona lowered her arm.

"Well, I guess that is a good thing you are an elf." I stated, and looked over at Tiona.

"We are not followers of Xedim either." Tiona spoke for herself. She tossed the sword to the she-elf standing in front of us, who nimbly caught the hilt. "It seems we all have lost loved ones in this battle."

I nodded in agreement, and resheathed my longsword, which had belonged to my husband, Gil-galad. He had been killed by Xedim in front of my eyes. "I am Authwen Randirel. It is an honor to meet another elf of Lórien." I put my hand out to shake.

She repeated the aiming process and hit the bulls-eye dead center. She walked to the target and pulled both of the kinves from it.

She then looked up at Mornie.

'We wait for Xedium to return, I suppose.' She answered.

"Tomorrow we should try and move the encampement elsewhere, before Xedim finds it. Do you know any safe havens we could flee to?" Just then I heard a rustling in the bushes. The three of us drew our swords and/or daggers and turned around. It was the girl from the encampment!
"What are you doing here?" I asked. "Well, I don't trust you and I wanted to see what you were up to. You could have been gathering orcs to slay all of us villagers," she replied.
"Well, if I was what were you going to do about it? Beat me with a stick?" I heard Tiona and Authwen chuckle and resheath their swords/daggers.
"I...ah..ah...I would have fought you by hand."
"And the orcs?" There was a silence. "What is your name child? Speak up!"
"I am Eruviél. At least that is what the elves called me. My mother died when I was very young and I never knew my father. My brother and I were held captive by orcs for a long time until Beriadil of Lorien saved us."
"BERIADIL?! Beriadil was my brother," Tears welled up in my eyes. There was a long silence. Then Tiona said "Well, let's start for the encampment now. It is getting late." All four of us ran through the forest as fast as our legs could carry us.......

I looked at the skinny child, and laughed at her cute and childish answers. You would have to give her credit for her bravery though. Mabye mortals weren't totally cowards these days.

suddenly, Amael was stopped in the middle of the forest by the girl. She seemed a bit lost. "Why are there never any signs around here?" the child murmured to Amael.

Tiona and I laughed at the elf's response.

"What would they say? 10 feet to tree, or 15 feet to bigger tree?"

The girl pouted and looked annoyed, but followed as the rest of us started running again.

When we reached the end of the wood, Turelie (I hope I spelled that right!) pointed out the camp. "We should be able to reach it soon enough." Authwen said, "You should take the girl on your horse with you while we away by foot."
Turelie did a whistle, and her horse came forth. She got upon it and I handed up the girl to her,

(In Xedium's outpost)

Mornie looked at Dawn with apparent disapproval. "Wait?" She questioned. "No good, waiting. Give that villiage of people a day and they'll all have fled to some elvish gathering, making up new defenses and plotting their own attacks. Whatever you may think of mortals, they're not so easily herded as sheep, and not so easy to tame." She let another dagger fly, a wide right hit. "No," she continued, aggitated, "it is best we hunt them down now, and do away with every last one. Let the world know that the reign of Xedum is unescapable and that resistance is futile." Again she paused, picking up another dagger. "I know my own kind, and as long as one stands against us, they will all stand. Men are not conquered one by one; they breed hope among eachother and in that way stand together. We must put them all down now, for good, and we shall see what hope they have left." A final throw and a knife twanged into the target. A perfect bullseye.

"We should go. Take a small scouting party and hunt them down- find out where they are hiding. If we wait for the master they will be miles from here by sunrise, and orcs are of no use during the day. Let us run, under cover of night, when the hearts of men are most uncertain, and find them, before it is too late."

Eruviél and I got off the horse. Immeadiately (sp?) her brother ran up to her and embraced her. He wasn't as young as Eruviél and not near as skinny. In fact, at first sight I was taken by him. He whispered to his sister for a few minutes and then let her run off. He walked up to me. "Thank you," he said.
"For what? You have no need to thank me yet. I have done little for the villagers. This place will be hunted down, very quickly. What is your name boy?"
"I am not a boy, in fact, by your looks I would say I was older than you!" I laughed.
"For not being a boy, you aren't very bright are you? If you look me over more closely you would see I am an elf! Anyone else would have known at first glance. Being an elf, I am much, much older than you, boy." By now I was almost rolling on the ground with laughter at this beautiful boy.
"I'm sorry milady." He was very red in the face, and he bowed down to me.
"Oh, stand up! Don't call me 'milady' and surely don't bow! I am no royalty. Now what is your name?"
"The elves called me Roheron."
"You love horses then? For that is the true meaning of that name."
"They are beautiful beasts."
"Well, Roheron, are you popular among these villagers?"
"They listen to what I have to say."
"Then tell them that we are moving. Tell them three elves, Turélië, Authwen Randirel, and Tiona daughter of Rathil, will lead them to a new place."

I raised my eyebrows, not understanding why exactly we were being called a 'them'. "It's nice to meet you too..." I said. Turelie, who is this? I asked the she-elf mentally.

A woman of pallor approached a glade. 'Twas dark, do she needn't fear being seen. Something, she knew, was happening. Something that would change the climate of the world for ever.

She knew not what this something was, but she knew that she wanted to play a role. A destructive role.

This woman of pallor was known simply and only as Morduniesse, a name encrusted with the gems of fear. Her broadsword always hit its mark, and her fighting was fierce. She knew not how to love. Only how to hate.

And hate she did, with a passion that would have made her a fond lover had this hate transmutated into love. But no.

And here she sat, alone in this dark glade, the woman of pallor. The woman in the iron corset and dress of dun. Here sat she sharpening her dear sword, and waiting.

Mornie scowled at the presumptuousness of her companion. With a savage twist she hurled three knives at the opposite ends of the room. They splattered into the target and she took off.

Through the hall and towards the gate, she rushed to the stables and snatched Carandae from his stall. Hurriedly she flung his saddle over his back and hoisted the cinch into place. The dark horse was slightly surprised at the agitation with which she completed her tasks, and stood frozen still so as not to be hurt.

She pulled the bridle over his ears and thrust the bit into his mouth. With a ferocious cry she leapt to his back, still within the stable, and spurred him towards the gates. Two frightened attendants pulled them open as fast as they humanly could, crying to the main-gate-keepers to do the same.

Her black cloak flying behind her, she sped off into the night, in the direction of the destroyed village.

"We shall crush them tonight..." she thought in a rage. THe wind swirled around her and Carandae's hoofbeats echoed through the silence of the night.

I heard another cry in the distance and I turned to Tiona and Authwen. Roheron was still talking to some of the villagers who did not trust the three of us elves. He was taking too long! I knew we must leave now, or otherwise fight the dark powers of Xedim. I heard Authwen's voice in my head again. Who is this Turelie?...His name is Roheron. He is Eruviél's brother. They were saved by my late brother Beriaden long ago from orcs. He is the only one who trusts us for now. But the hour is growing very late and we must move NOW! I need to speak to them myself. Can I trust you for support on my words? Tiona repliead immedeatley (sp?). "Yes."
"Villagers! Lasto!" I shouted above all the noise and talking. "I need your attention. You may not trust me, but for your own well being, I would. Tonight Xedim's forces will be pressing to find us all! If we do not leave this valley very soon and quickly, many of you shall be killed. I know that some of you are strong enough to fight, but this would not be reasonable. If you do not wish to trust me, then don't, but I assure you, you shall be killed or captured." At this many people started packing their things and gathering supplies. The rest started questioning Tiona, Authwen, Roheron, and I......

O.O.C.~ In the post of me talking to Eruviél for the first time, I said Turelie's brother's name was Beriadil...That's feminine for Defender....oops!

"Who are you? Why should we trust you?" One of the frightened villagers asked me. Many others were pressing in around us, all interrogating us pressingly.

I spoke for myself, thinking it better for Tiona's health. "I'm Authwen Randirel... wife of Gil-galad Ereinion..." I decided not to blab his (and my) titles just yet. "We're elves... you can always trust elves... Now do what Turelie told you..." <mostly... you can mostly trust elves...> I thought to myself.

I suddenly stopped, what was that? I turned in the direction of the hills behind us, I closed my eyes and listened, trying to block out all other sound.
"He's coming." I said quietly, almost to myself, I raised my head and yelled, "He's coming!"
I immediatly realized that I should not have done that, the camp went into immediate chaos. The villagers stampeaded (sp?), leaving some of the women, children, and elderly behind or being trampled. I felt a sudden overwhelming feeling of guilt,
"What have I done?" I said out loud. I hurried to help some of the villagers as much as possible, but how would we get them away in time? The horde I could hear was at least a half hour away, if they were walking, but I had a feeling that Xedim would never have any of his beasts walking.

Authwen looked over at Tiona with anger in her eyes. "Good question... do answer it for us." She said quite sarcastically and meanly. "I will hold them off as long as I can, you two.. three, clear the villagers!!" The Elven Queen whistled twice, and an eagle came soaring from the sky.

Sael The Wise was wearing a harness, and Authwen hopped onto his bronze back as he flew past. He quickly gained height, and took Authwen back to where the Followers were. She massaged a few feathers on his neck. "Thank you, possibly for the last time, my friend."

A few feet off of the ground (more like 30) she jumped off of the Eagle. Alone, she stood in front of the Xedimians (?) pulled out her sword, Meathorgalen.

"Keep moving!" I yelled, to where I was not sure. I ran ahead, faster and faster until I finally reached a small outcrop over a low valley,
"This will have to do until Authwen is done, whatever she plans to do." I thought, as I quickly ran back toward the villagers,
"This way! There is a valley we must go down, this way!" I pointed the way and the villagers hurriley (sp?) obeyed, though they did not entirely trust me. I went to the back and sped up the elderly, helping them along into the valley. When most were down I looked in the direction Authwen had flown,
"Why did she go? She can not possibly hold off the whole of Xedim's army single handedly!" I thought, but it was too late for why's, she had gone and I needed to help her, but with what army? Wait! I had seen her use telepathy with Turelie, perhaps, if I concentrated enough, I could also do it! It was not much of a chance, but it was the only way I could contact her! *Authwen, you cannot hold them yourself, what shall we do?* I sent that message over and over, hoping that the feeling that I felt was that I was using tetepathy, not that this was utterly and completly useless.

"Tiona! Tiona!" I cried. "I have an army! A fairly sized one....of my people. I sent for my sister three days ago. She should be...DOWN IN THE VALLEY! Let me go and see. You keep trying to get the elderly into the valley. I shall be back with help for the elders and an army to help us help Authwen!" I whistled and Mithiren came cantering up. I swung on to her back and urged her on. We ran down into the valley. On the other side I could make out my sister and what seemed about 80 elves. I urged more speed from Mithiren. She gave it to me. Soon we were cantering past all of the loose villager's horses. I saw Roheron and he waved for me to stop. I didn't stop,I just pressed on until I reached my sister. We jumped off our horses and had a quick embrace.
"Bessvanui! How I have missed you! I wish we had time to talk but there is much to be done. I have friends down there who need our help. I have re-met Authwen Randiril! She is fighting the Xedimians as we speak! Quickly!" I told her.
"I have brought some extra horses. Your friends may use them. The rest the children and elders can use. Now, let's go!"
We got back on our horses. We cantered back through the valley where people were settling. I saw Roheron again. I sent my horse Ithilroch for him to ride. He jumped on her back and rode to my side. We cantered up to Tiona and I sent her a horse. We stopped my sister orded 20 elves and 10 extra horses to take the elderly to catch up to the rest of the villagers. The rest of us rode and rode until we saw Authwen in the distance........

A great black horse stood in front of Authwen, its rider like a black shadow. The rider halted the Dark Army, and dismounted the horse. What Authwen recognized (barely) as a woman strode forward.

"Mornie... we meet again." Authwen said, her voice like ice. Authwen stared into the 'woman's' hood, and a bright blue light, as if from a star, started to grow on The Queen's left hand.

Dawn recieved several reports on the progress of the preparation of the scouting party before she realized Mornie was missing.

She walked back into one of the main rooms and called for wine. One of the mortals brought it to her and she stared into the mirky depths of the goblet for a moment before downing the glass.

'Must I ask it again?' She called loudly to everyone in the room. They all dropped their work and snapped their heads in her direction.

'Ask what again, Mistress?' One of the braver young men asked. Dawn threw the goblet at him and began pacing the room.

'Does anyone else know what I want to know?' She asked, her eyes red in anger and her ears red in annoyance. Silence permated the air as Dawn looked each mortal in the eyes.

'WHERE'S MORNIE?' She yelled loudly. Everyone in the room cringed and several dived beneath the tables. Dawn threw her hands out and several of the mortals went flying across the room, each contacting the wall with a satisfying 'crunch' as Dawn watched.

One of the young women Xedium had captured to do the cooking and cleaning stood.

'Mistress. Mornie left about an hour ago.' She said respectfully. Dawn looked at her and smiled as she walked to the maiden.

'What's your name girl?' She asked. The maiden swallowed quickly before answering.

'Xedium calls me Loressch.' She answered quietly. Dawn stepped back and ran her eyes down Loressch's body.

'You know how to fight girl?' She asked. Loressch nodded. Dawn smiled again and began pacing again.

'Does everyone understand now?' She called loudly. 'Yes!' Was heard from every corner and niche of the room. Dawn smiled and walked back to Loressch.

'You come with me.' She said to the young Rohirrim maiden. Loressch nodded slightly and followed Dawn out the door to the stables.

Sothing was happening to Authwen, or would happen if we did not hurry! I ran down into the valley, hoping to find Turelie as quickly as possible. I found her speaking with her sister. "Authwen, she needs our help! We must go, now!" They looked at eachother, then summoned thier army. I knew the fear that I had felt now would be, not was there now, but the urgency flooded my mind more than the fear, which I was still shaking from.

"I assume we should dispense with the... pleasantries." She said. In the distance, the Queen's sensitive ears picked out the sound of elven horse hoofbeats in the background. From Mornie's reaction, Authwen could tell their ears worked the same.

Suddenly, she stood up straight, her face showing none of her earlier jest.

Instead, she now wore much the look she had when she worked alongside Mornie, evil with a mix of much anger and terrible power. "It looks to me that the Great Mornie cannot even stand her own troops. How can you lead such a ragged bunch? I mean, look at them... they couldn't even shoot a bow at the broad side of a barn! I used to keep my orcs trained much better; in their perfect phalanxes they were deadly. Careless of you, Mornie. Careless. The scouting party errupted into cheers as they followed her into the rolling plains of Rohan. Loressch wrapped her arms around Dawn's waist to maintain her postion on Morrandir's back as the wind whipped Dawn's midnight black hair in her face.

As they neared the forest of Fangorn Dawn slowed Morrandir and turned to the scouting party.

'I will look ahead. Stay here, I will call you when needed.'

With those words Dawn melted into the trees, leaving almost no sign that she had ever exsisted.

Dawn was crawling through the undergrowth, one hand steadying herself, one hand on her sword, when she encountered the sentry.

I looked at my master. "But my Lord, shouldn't I challenge him to single combat. I know I am the better fighter." Xedim shook his head. "That is not the case. If King Aragorn is slain, and his wife and son with him, it will cause the men of Gondor, Arnor, and Rohan to war, not to mention the foolish Halflings. My kingdom is not yet ready for this. That is why you must do it in the dead of night where none can see you. Do you understand?" I nodded once more. Orcs had formed a tight circle about the elfqueen and the dark soldier. They threw their hands up and cheered and howled and rooted for the match to go on. Not in a long time had they seen a battle such- two women so alike yet so different and the spectacluar collision of light and dark in all their fantastic skill.

Mornie's soldiers roared with excitement and cruel calls as Authwen wearily stood forth again and drew her sword. Mornie again bowed low, a distinct smirk on her face and her sword pointing far out to the side, as Authwen nodded solemnly in return.

HOOOAH! Mornie screamed as she let her blade fall to Authwen. The clang of the Elven and the Numenorean swords rang through the night as Authwen caught Mornie's blow just before it rent her neck from her body. Orcs howled and cheered, and Mornie drew back and swung again. A ferocity was in her that would not die, and a flame burned in her eyes as she came at the Ancient Queen with all her might. Old jealousies and skirmishes and past rages and hates flamed up anew in her black heart, and the slow boil of ages was in them.

Perhaps it was that long simmering hate that fueled the Dark Lieutenant to victory, or the unceasing chants of orcs, or perhaps an outer will that drove her so mercilessly, but in the end, Authwen's energy was spent, and the queen blocked one final blow before slipping in a small divet in the ground and falling to her back. Instantly Mornie was on top of her, sitting on her chest with her feet at Authwen's wrists, grinning like a very evil Chesire cat down at her defeated sister.

"Tut tut tut, sister," she scolded with a sly grin as she leaned over and daintily plucked the Sword from Authwen's hand. "You're getting sloppy." Mornie rotated the elegant hilt in her hand and studied the moonbeams that flickered off of it this way and that. The orcs were all silent now.

"But what to do...what to do...I can't decide whether I want a hostage, or a trophy." She held Authwen's own sword sideways over her neck, the very edge of the blade floating barely a hair's width over her skin. Mornie leaned in close ,so that the two were face to face, and continued: "You are, after all, my sister."

There must be no one since I left... at least no one that could equal your.... skill...." Authwen kicked her knees up, and her foot caught on the blade of her sword. However, as she did one of the orcs placed her face and fell to the ground in respect. Dawn looked around furtively and roughly pulled the orc to his feet.

'Say nothing.' She threatened as she shoved him into a nieghboring orc and disappeared into the darkness of the forest.

Moments later she emerged from the forest and gave her party several whispered instructions.

'Loressch and I will go watch the fight. You,' She pointed her sword at one of the silver-haired Elves. 'Will take about five of your soldiers and infiltrate the group watching. You,' She pointed to another Elf. 'Will take the rest and set up sentrys on the edge of the group. Report to me.' She finished.

"You've never been more than a thorn in my side and a pebble in my boot. And the death of the great Authwen Randiriel would be quite the victory for Xedim and a devastating blow to the resistance he faces." Her mortal eyes were keen and sharpened in the night, and instantly she recognized the movements of elves mingled with humans. Authwen woke up to the familiar clapping of horse hooves on the hard sun-dried earth. Her hands were tied behind her back, and her feet were tied around the horse's stomach. She managed to look about her, and saw that there were four large orcs following the horse. When she turned around, she lost her balance, and she flipped over so that her feet were on his back and the top of her head was bouncing between the horse's legs inches from the ground.

The orcs had orders to take her to the Fortress, and were not to let her get hurt. So they stopped in the middle of a field. The 'leader' stupidly took out a knife thingy and cut her off of the horse's back instead of just picking her up and rotating her around so she was sitting on him again.

Authwen fell to the ground. In a matter of seconds, she crumpled into a ball, and her arms slipped over her legs, so that her hands were in front of her. She reached into her boot, pulled out a small knife that the elf missed in his search and hid it in her hand.

Roughly, one the orcs picked her up, and tossed her over his shoulder to start running again. Quietly, she cut the ropes from her hands, and slit the orc's throat. It fell to the ground, and thankfully, it was the last orc in the group of four. The other three orcs didn't notice that she (or the other orc) was gone. The idiots. Authwen shook her head as she watched them fade into black dots in the distance. They really were poorly trained!

Still somewhat fatigued from her earlier battle, Authwen whistled and an eagle soared from the sky. Sael returned, and Authwen rode him over the fields and his wings cast a shadow over the party of orcs and elves headed by two figures riding on one horse.

Authwen smirked as she saw her sister riding back among the orcs (she knew that Mornie wouldn't be happy not leading). The Elven Queen dropped the bit of rope `that previously bound her hands and it landed in Mornie's face.

A small bit of rope had hit her across the nose, and angrily she turned around and scanned the ranks looking for the unlucky party that threw it. Dawn was quite far ahead at the lead, and the woman riding with her clung desperately to her back, so it could not have been them. No orc would have dared such a foolish trifle, and none other could have hit her face from that angle. She scanned the area quickly and pursued a final thought. Her eyes leaned skyward in time to watch the great passing form of an eagle overhead.

A whistle like a hyperactive tea-kettle pierced the air and Dawn halted Morrandir and angrily glared in Mornie's direction. With a cocky chin gesture, Mornie pointed to the gliding eagle over head and mouthed the word, "Authwen," with a smile.

Dawn smiled and looked at the position of the moon.

'Took her a little longer then usual this time.' Dawn remarked to Mornie as her eyes faded to a calm green.

'Why do you think I sent the orcs with her instead of my Elves?' Dawn asked Mornie and then laughed. Loressch yawned again and Dawn reached to her side and pulled a canteen from her belt.

'Drink half of this.' Dawn commanded Loressch as she reached over her shoulder and handed the she-mortal the metal flask.

"You are impossible!" Mornie rode up beside her Captain and chided. "Did you want her to escape or did you want to take her prisoner? What was the point of even bothering? Why didn't you just let me kill her when I had the chance?" Dawn just looked back at her expressionless. "Why don't you quit playing around and make a useful decision for once, instead of these merry-go-round games. You are wasting precious time and effort, and the Master will not be happy."

'The Master is happy with anything I do.' Dawn replied tersely, her eyes red.

'As for the killing, Xedium would certainly be glad she's still alive, even if she is on the loose again.' Dawn said with fake sweetness and joy.

Dawn nodded to Mornie and looked down into the valley.

"Mmm hm," Mornie replied dryly; she had scored a point.

Their eyes drifted to the valley below them, where far off in the distance, a band of moving figures could be spotted. The villiagers were not far away and they were closing in. Mornie shot one more rebellious look at Dawn and spurred Carandae down the hill with a cry.

(Sorry for not posting for so long! Anyway, I've decided to change my perspective to third person, and I've got to admit, this is from a while back. Just try to fit it in in the middle of the sidter-sister fight. I'll try to make up from there. I might be able to come back on, but I'll be gone on vacation for a week or two. I'll check back when I return.)

Tiona waited for an answer to her question, when she had a sudden voice appear in her head, with the plain answer,
"No."
Was this Authwen? She sent another message, just to be certain,
"Are you sure?"
Suddenly, Authwen (who she could see through the leaves of her hiding place) stared directly at Tiona. That was enough for her, she signaled for the others to retreat.
As soon as Tiona had explained to the others why she had issued a retreat, questions needed to be debated.
"We are away from his army, but that won't keep the villagers safe. Where could we bring them? I still have a sense of fear within me," Tiona said, "but now that I have had time to think of it, it was not only Authwen that I felt was in danger. Though nothing that happened there will indeed be the cause of it, this horror I feel is something that is coming! We must set forth for the nearest friendly residence, but I don't know of any. I was hoping you two," she lifted her hand to Turelie and her sister, "could help with this."
They gazed at eachother, obviously trying to read eachothers expresions, when they smiled.
"We know of one." muttered Turelie, "But the distance is one that is chalanging from here. Though it would take us long, we should be able to make it."
"Good." muttered Tiona, "Let us return to the villagers with the news, I feal that Authwen can take care of herself for a time."
As they flew from the trees, which, amazingly, no enemy had followed them from, they heard a few exclimations from behind them. Though the Turelie and her kin continued without turning, Tiona turned and gazed up the hillside and gasped. A being of horrific fire stood between the two sisters, a sight that made Tiona's breath hold back. She knew this one, she had seen it in the presence of Xedim! But this could not be true, her eyes must have been decieving her! For none of the enemy seemed frightened, nor dazzled in any way. This thing of terrifying, multicolored flame that seemed in a way terrible yet beautiful. She finally turned away, the terror inside seemed to want her to stay with that thing, but she continued on with the others to the villagers.

They began traveling almost as soon as they had returned, the sisters seemed to know the way, so Tiona decided to let them direct as she helped and herded the villagers toward the direction, which proved to be much more hard than she had predicted. Moving went so slowly that Tiona was sure that they would be caught, it was only a matter of time. She often stayed in the back, helping straglers and children who seemed to have not felt the danger, for some where playing as if it had been day.
The sky began to get light, and as Tiona turned her head to watch the blazing sun, someone screamed.
"Someone, help us!" a woman screamed as everyone slowed and halted. Tiona ran to the sound of the sobbing voice and found an elderly woman lying upon the ground.
"Help us, please!" a younger woman cried as she tried to lift the lady. Tiona ran to the woman, she had fainted. It dawned on Tiona that they had been traveling almost all night with no rest, but rest was not an option.
"Water... we need water!" cried Tiona as a child ran forward with a skin of water. Tiona tipped the container to the lips of the woman, and she awoke. Tiona called over a man and asked him to take care of her, then she headed back once more.
"This is hopeless," she thought, "We'll be found soon." But what could be done? They could only keep moving.
"Keep moving!" yelled a voice from the front, and they began moving once more. Tiona turned her head to the sun once more, but this time she noticed a new flame within the rays of the light. What was it? She stopped moving, she realized that the fear strick her heart once more. This could not be Xedim himself, not now, he would be far from here. Her eyes grew wide, she drew her sword and began stepping back. It was moving away from the sun, and it rode upon the back of a beast of lightning. With sword drawn it flew across the fields, following in it's wake was at least a thousand more dark figures strode, or did they ride? Either way, they seemed to fly on the air rather than ride upon the ground, and though they were distances away, they came closer rapidly. Tiona couldn't breath, she couldn't alert them. Was this the servant of Xedim, or did Xedim's servatude perhaps belong to this creature? After what seemed like an eternity, a villager cried out and pointed to the army of death,
"Run! An army approaches!"
Tiona turned breathlessly toward the man, did he not see death looking back at him? Did he not see that this army was more? Tiona could hear the villagers retreating across the opposite field, many feet pounding against grass and rock, then she heard nothing. She could not even hear her breath, only the distant feet and the four hooves that sounded death upon the world. Then, she heard a voice.
"Death will meet this morning."
She knew it to be true, but she also knew that these words, wether thoughts or words spoken, came from the flame beast. But she would not let this be, she would not die this day, and niether would these people. Her own thoughts seemed to suddenly meet the air,
"I will not die."
The beast had heard her, for laughter filled her ears as the fire and storm rode closer. Tiona turned, she had to get them out, she could not let the laughter reverbarate, but how? The laughter echoed inside of her as she ran toward Turelie and her sister, perhaps they could save them all.

(Ok, this wasn't short, but I haven't posted in a while! mecry Hope you can do alot with this new piece of material! See you all soon! )

Dawn looked into the valley and sighed. She turned to Mornie and smiled.

'Are we ready? Xedium tells me he'll be here soon.' Dawn said as she replaced her metal flask and nudged Morrandir over the edge of the steep embankment.

(BTW, the last bit , if you haven't figured it out yet, is a little in the future, plus... Dawn is the firery figure, and nobody else sees Dawn the way Tiona does, why you guys should say, :-)
I'm leaving in a few hours and won't be back for a week or two, so you guys are going to have to take care of the story for me. I regret leaving at such a tense moment, but I've been waiting for vacation all year! Bye!)

"...and willing." Mornie replied, swinging her knives in her hands over Carandae's neck. The beast snorted and stomped in its eagerness.

Dawn smiled twistedly as she noticed the villagers in the distance.

She slapped Morrandir with her sword and the stallion responded with speed.

She easily caught the villagers and sliced the mortal that had tried to warn them from head to waist.

'Death will be met this morning!' She said as she threw her head back and laughed.

The villagers paniced and Dawn rode amongst them, beheading several of the men as they tried to defend their wives and children.

'Attack!' She yelled after a moment while she turned and faced her dark army.

The orcs and Elves responded with a throaty yell and went about their duties.

IC: Meith kicked his horse, as he galloped along the steep slope, overlooking a field. He reached the top, and ran his fingers through his black shoulderlength hair. His breath was heavy, thought it stopped once he saw a stream of people, and, as he looked the other way, horror hit him. an army. an army someone had told him would come. He must do his best to help these people, if it meant his life. He saw the army charge towards the innocent villagers. He kicked his black stallion, and urged him forwards. With a shout of rage, his unsheathed his sword, and galloped down the slope to meet his possible doom.
