This is the elvish blade that Celeborn presented to Aragorn in the 'Gift Scene' in the extended FotR dvd. The elvish script on the blade is very detailed and clear

I love it although I would have preferred Celeborn giving him a scabbard for Narsil (which he didn't have in the movie at that time so this present was a good compansation...)
I like this knife very much though...

Very cool knife! Though why did the elvish weaponry have to be curved? Not that it's not beautiful, but it was the orcs who had curved swords. *shrug*
I was really happy when we found out where he got the knife. It popped up during the orc battle out of "nowhere". And then came the Ext and I was "Oh! That's where he got it!"
But what is that? "Foe of the Morgoths"? There was only one Morgoth and a Sauron. But it does make sense, in a way.

You can find here (http://www.elvish.org/gwaith/movie.htm) a very interesting website about the elvish (and other) languages have been used in the LOTR movie.
I've read there the translation of the inscription of Aragorn's knife:
Gûd daedheloth
'Foe [of the] great-fear' [intended to mean: 'Foe of the Morgoth's Realm']

There's a great contradiction there, these blades were made by the Noldor, I think Galadriel makes the mention of it, and here another fellow linguist might be able to prove me wrong or prove me right, but I don't think Noldor smiths would have used Sindarin for their inscriptions, what do you say?
as for the shape of the blade I still prefer the knives given to Merry and Pippin, but the workmanship is still amazing and the cutting power o fit must be really amazing, much more than a bowie styled blade.

I'd really like a replica of that (http://bladesbybrown.com/catalog.htm?item=795&ret=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.bladesbybrown.com%2Fcatalog.h tm%3Fpage%3D1%26category%3DAuthorized%2Band%2BOffi cially%2BLicensed%2BLord%2BOf%2BThe%2BRings%2BSwor ds) for my Aragorn costume, but it's too expensive. (And nobody (http://search.ebay.com/search/search.dll?cgiurl=http%3A%2F%2Fcgi.ebay.com%2Fws%2 F&krd=1&from=R8&MfcISAPICommand=GetResult&ht=1&SortProperty=MetaEndSort&query=Elven+Knife+) seems to be selling knock-offs yet :( )

Nilion:
Could you be thinking of the knives that she gave to M&P. She said they were daggers of the Noldorin and said they had already seen service. But I don't remember her saying anything about Aragorn's knife.
Also, even in the 1st Age, the Noldor and Sindar were fairly mixed, the Sindar being the majority. I believe only Gondolin was a strictly Noldo enclave. Being insulated from the outside world for hundreds of years and having a Noldo lord, that would be the only place that I think would be strictly Quenya. 2nd Age elves were thouroughly mixed. To answer your question, I don't think it would be out of the question for a Noldo to use Sindarin, I think it would be probable. The Noldor were a minority especially after the War of Wrath.

its Foe of Morgoth's Realm actually (atleast countless places say so)
The reason that the elven stuff is so curvey, is because during design, Weta wanted to create alternative cultures, so they drew from all over the place, japanese and oriental designs went into the elven stuff, like all the curves and lines you see in the elven stuff, but they never wanted it to be like bam, hey their japanese! (which would honestly be pretty weird)
I love that knife!
