Gil-Galad?

In fear of sounding dumb but will ask this anyway :p

I've seen pics of Gil-Galad around the net but which movie does he actually appear in? Or is he just one of those pics you see to drool over :D

He appears in FOTR during the Prologue. He's the guy without a helmet, and the spear.

Mmm. Yes, Gil-galad - played by Mark Ferguson, a Kiwi actor.

As Lady Ashley say, he appears briefly in the prologue, spearing an Orc, no less! Also, in the brief scene when the Elvish Rings are mentioned, you see Galadriel, Cirdan and Gil-galad wearing their rings...

Mark Ferguson has also appeared in Xena (apparently) and I think he starred in Shortland Street for a while. I'm not entirely sure, seeing as I don't watch either...

Unfortunately, a great deal of stuff never made the film... Including a scene that Mark Ferguson refers to as the 'Flaming Gil-galad'... Ah well, we can appreciate the many photos on the net! ;) :p

Say, would you have guessed that I'm a Gil-galad/Mark Ferguson fangirl?? :blush: :grin: :blush:

Actually, that's true! *nods* I remember someone pointing it out - he's not seen with a helmet, despite the line in the 'Fall of Gil-galad' - His shining helm afar was seen or some such...

Really? I didn't see Gil-Galad and was wondering where he was! Thanks for the information! ;) Gil-Galad should come out as much as Elrond does, since Elrond is the herald of Gil-Galad.

There's also a scene in the extended FOTR DVD where Gil-galad stabs an orc with his spear.....

Yes. I know that scene... I have my own phrase for that scene which I shall not repeat here!!! Ahem... Let's just say that he appears to be enjoying the orc-spearing greatly...

I have a load of pics of Gil-galad around the place... Hmmm. I'll see what I can do about putting them into the photo forum here...

Yeah when I read the book I imagined a whole different character. lol
He doesn't look as gracious and mythical as the other elves... but that's also becouse of his battle armour. He looks too broad and boxy which doesn't make him look as gracefull and elagant. More like a human warrior. Or a guy who throws annoying people out of the disco. lol
But at least they did some Gil Galad into the movie.

Yeah - it is utterly the character, but the guy himself is awfully sound. I'm on a (closed) mailing list that he occasionally posts on - funny man - and if anyone has ever seen anything from last year's RingCon...

I'm a Gil-galad gal first and foremost (He's in almost all of my fanfictions) but I do like Mark all the same! ;)
