Simply stated, she is a beautiful and intelligent woman. as well as a brave, stong-willed/minded warrior.

She is an all-around wonderful LOTR woman :loveyou:

Need I say more? :)

Well, because you invited me: lol roflmao lol

But really I think you've made a good choice. One of my favorate characters, not a title usually reserved for the big folk. ;)

How do you feel about Miranda Otto? Or should I not ask.......

Sindarin
August 17th,2002, 07:30 AM
I like Miranda just fine.

Although I prefer the character Eowyn, Miranda is her portrayer. Let's just say I like them both. :loveyou:

ah yes, the divine miss Otto, porttraying the divine (though albeit emotionally disturbed) miss Eowyn.
I can't tink of a better choice for the role of Eowyn....well maybe Naomi Watts.

Sindarin
September 10th,2002, 07:42 PM
I don't quite picture Watts as Eowyn.

Miranda Otto is the perfect choice for Ewoyn is you ask me

I really wanna see Eowyn!! Like really, not just trailers &c.

She's one of my fav characters too (though to be polite I won't say anything about Otto)

Maybe slightly disturbed, but she fixes it fine in RofK :)

Loravarnion Darkstone
September 11th,2002, 10:05 AM
I think Watts is a bit too pretty for Eowyn but basically, if they ruffed her up a bit she'd be a fine Eowyn.
Miranda's better though.

Pil
September 11th,2002, 02:13 PM
I think Eowyn needs that kind of.....ruffledness....or she would look too pretty and aragorn would have chosen HER over arwen! lol

Liv Tyler AT LEAST looked the part... I mean, flawless dark beauty and all  But still... Eowyn is the best...!!! Girl power!!! roflmao

Right, miranda was wonderfully cast, liv... eh they could've done better, maybe gweneth paltrow (who is always unbelievably elegant). But i have a feeling that in the TT jackson is going to make it seem as though Aragorn also had feelings for Eowyn, just for fun. I'll bet anyone that that's what's going to happen.

p.s even though it's not tolkien's vision (that's happing a bunch in the movies), i think it would enhance the movie, who doesn't love a love triangle?

Gwyneth as Arwen? besides the fact that she's blonde, she wouldn't make a good elf, she's too old and isn't especially attractive. I mean, she's quite pretty, but has no presence she's just there, and doesn't stand out from any other pretty girl you'd pass on the street.

Gatsby
September 15th,2002, 06:12 PM
i've seen her with black hair and she looks really pretty, and liv isn't particularly attractive either. but i can see your point

Exactly my point...i mean....SURE....enhance arwen's role in the first one if you're desperate...but give eowyn her kick-butt girl-power thing...arwen will mess it up with her prissy ways...we want rough and tough...but still feminine and attractive...really cool eowyn!

Loravarnion Darkstone
October 4th,2002, 04:00 PM
I think it's quite evident that by this stage Arwen will have a larger role than Eowyn.
perhaps not, but from what I've seen it looks that way.
has anyone seen dead letter office? Miranda was greta in that and oooooooooooooh so sexy!

Gatsby
October 4th,2002, 04:04 PM
well i think that they really needed to have two really distinct characters in order to have a love triangle that worked. Arwen is beautiful, graceful and wise (sh's got to be, she's wicked old!) but she's not a warrior and (in my opinion) lacks passion. eowyn is a warrior, she's passionate, brave, and beautiful, but she is kind of reckless and is desperate need of some prozac (the poor thing). The love triangle wouldnt work if arwen was also a warrior, because aragorn would have no reason to be interested in eowyn because arwen would be everything he wanted. But since both characters have something that the other lacks, the love triangle will be that much more interesting and suspenceful. we know who he chooses and we know it's for the best because the other will fall in love with someone who matches her perfectly *sigh*

Gatsby
October 5th,2002, 05:15 PM
i know!! some people don't want that to happen becuase that's not how it went down in the book (aragorn's aditude was 'get away from me') but i think that the triangle will make the movie sooooooo much better and more promotes a more well rounded audience. with all the battle scenes and male testosterone (did i spell that right?) you gotta have something for the ladies!

I didn't want it to happen. I do take offence at the 'something for the ladies' thing though! Not all women want soppy love stories. i like films with battle scenes just as much as any bloke. I don't mind love storys but its rare I see a movie for that reason. just me though I guess...

Gatsby
October 5th,2002, 10:20 PM
i'm not saying that you don't eowyn!! i know that there are a kabajillion girls out there who absolutley love battle scenes (myself included) but there are also another kabajillion girls who don't really care for them and will enjoy the romance. i didn't mean to offend anyone.

I think that movie's Eowyn is warm, she has feelings but in the book she's different she's cold as a stone.

Aranel
June 16th,2003, 01:42 PM
No, I don't think she's cold, she's just trapped. She's not free to show her emotions because she is restricted by her role in society - she can't show how she feels because she has to care for Theoden. And she wants to appear cold to Wormtongue so the creep will get the hint and realise she's not interested!

Winyaél Greenleaf
June 16th,2003, 04:23 PM
i agree with Aranel. Ladies of ancient eras aren't really regarded as significant. (With exceptions in the elven kingdom of course) They aren't really free to show theur emotions.

Where should I post pictures from?

Winyaél Greenleaf
June 23rd,2003, 11:14 AM
Well, if you post pics directly onto the post without using a url link, that's hot-linking, and it eats up bandwidth from the site that you've linked the pic from, and also deprives that site of traffic, so it's not very ethical. You can post your pics this way:
http://maidenfair.net/miranda/eowyn14.jpg

The pic can still be viewed when you click on the link. ;)

You can only post pics using the IMG code if the pic is from WotR itself.

I really like the character of eowyn! She can do fightscenes without anyone complaining about it.
Yes, I liked arwen as a "warrior princess", though i'm nearly the only one. And i can't see why there couldn't have been two women with swords. Someone's mentioned that it steals eowyns speciality, but i think miranda otto would have been strong enough to prevent her character from bubbling under.

Nevertheless, can't wait to see her kicking the witchking's *** in ROTK!

Most people really like Eowyn and I can see why. She's a strong character and very much like ladies of old as Win said earlier they were not supposed to show their feelings.

I agree though I can't wait to see her fight the witch king! and I think Miranda Otto has done a good job with the character. Feelings are easier to explain when written down than when acted out so you will always feel for book characters more.

Miranda Otto (http://miranda.maidenfair.net/) is a great Éowyn, and I think faithfully brings the book character to the big screen, unlike some other women characters I could mention. ...

In her big scene with the witch king, why change already perfect lines? ok I admit they can cut a few bits (eg. the "daughter of Eomund" bit) but why change the rest mecry they made her lines sound cheesy! :(

Well the title sums the discussion up...I saw that there was a Faramir and Eowyn thread but as much as I like Faramir I think that Eowyn deserves her own thread.

Eowyn is a character around which much debate has sprung up. Should she have left Rohan and gone to battle? or should she have stayed home to watch over the Rohanian lands?

Personally I have placed Eowyn on the lofty pedestal of my favorite character. Yes I know there are so many characters and how can you choose Eowyn over the always loveable Sam. But really I love Eowyn so much because of her blend of faults and strengths, and because in her character Tolkien did what so many other authors are struggling to do today. Write a strong female character who is still feminine.

Anyhow this is a thread in which I hope we can entertain a wide variety of discussion on Eowyn in all her aspects, the good and the bad....

Eomund
July 23rd,2004, 09:49 AM
and the bad....

okay...i cant remember a thing...

but she should have stayed at home...

i think she was the second or first femine character...

Rhianon
July 24th,2004, 12:10 AM
pfbbt How typical of a man! If she had stayed at home, the Witch-King of Angmar would have destroyed Gondor and Middlearth would have had to endure untold years of darkness. It was fate or destiny for her to gone to Gondor and she would never have met Faramir.

Lalaith of Rohan
July 25th,2004, 01:06 AM
Easy there, Rhianon. ;) Look at it this way. Pretend that events hadn't happened to fall into place like they did. What if the Witch King had killed Eowyn? Or what if she had never encountered him? One soldier's not gonna kill that many orcs, and in the meantime Rohan is left without a leader, and no one to protect them if Minas Tirith falls and the war is lost. It was impulsive of her, although her heart was in the right place, and she certainly showed those men what for, now, didn't she? But the fact of the matter remains: She left her people to do what SHE wanted to do. No, it wasn't fair that she always had to be left behind, but it was an irresponsible move. Still, things worked out, she kicked butt, fell in love, and lived happily ever after.

I agree with LoR, that was irresponsible. But she would have died if Merry hadn't saved her, but she WAS suicidal, so, there you go.........she's too deppressive for me. Arwen speshul! But NO, don't say "well, I don't see her killing thw Witch-king." cause people don't have to kill him to be totally-kewl. eowyn needed serious therapy.

I have to say that it was the book character, just as with Faramir, that I fell in love with as well.

Probably because both were much more well developed (and in Faramir's case helpful) in the books. But I found that Eowyn was well played for the small ammount of background and developement she was allowed. I would, however have liked to see more developement of Eowyn with a sacrifice of some of Arwen's time (both because I'm a huge fan of Eowyn and because it would have been more true to the book)

I agree Eowyn did act irresponsibly...but that's one thing that endeared me to her she was a character who was not acting purely as duty dictates and acted instead as her developement, history, and character dictated. Can you imagine her doing anything else given those factors?

And yes I've heard from many people that they think that Eowyn was too depressed/dark for them...and, of course, that is a purely personal preference. But with the shadow of Sauron falling upon the lands, with Wormtongue whispering in her ear as well as the king, with her cousin and heir to the throne dead, and with the only family she has left going off to war where they will likely die who wouldn't be a wee bit depressed?

These little details where Eowyn's character reacts and acts in situations as you have been led to believe she will by her previous developement flesh out her character for me and make her more accessable and easy to relate to.

I've also heard people say that she endangered Merry by bringing him along... now I don't think that's entirely true as Merry made the choice to come. Yes, I admit Eowyn did facilitate his accompanying them...but could she have done any differently without becoming extremely hypocritical... no I think Merry knowingly endangered himself...

Anyhow...enough for now

Oh I agree, but with the time constraints put on her character I imagine it would be extremely difficult to get her character spot on. But I do think that given the constraints of the movie they didn't do too poorly a job at characterizing her.

I think Eowyn played a large role in the book. You certianly see her more then you see Arwen, or even Galadriel. I know that the other two women have large parts behind the scenes, but Eowyn is the one who speaks out. Half of the Stewart and the King focuses back on Eowyn, and her desire to leave and fight, but then she falls in love with Faramir.

And yes, she was a bit over played in the movies, but who wasn't? Plus, I think that she was needed, because of the way the role of women have changed in society from the time the books were written.

I am right there with you! I was watching and waiting, she kills the fell beast and witchking and the next time we see her she's fine! And I was like, what a minute, we're missing something here!

I think if she was a little suicidal she was justified at least in the sense that she wanted to die for what she believed in, not because some guy didn't like her, which I think is totally wrong - she just wanted renown and honour - who can't relate!

Hope of the Evenstar
November 18th,2004, 02:58 AM
She would rather die. I think it's a little foolish to want to die for glory. She already had honor. She just didn't see it. I wouldn't abandon my people so that I could die admist the slaughter of Pelannor, just for renown. I mean, if the people of Rohan would be ok without me, and if I had some plan, to help someone or whatever, I'd definitely do it. It's strange that I never liked Eowyn, because I'm very pro-woman warrior. Artemis, Athena, Diana, they rock. Not Eowyn.

A lot of it had to do with the fact that we were all upset that they had cut the HoH out of the theartrical - I mean, you get to see Sam and Rosie kiss and we don't get an ounce of face time for E/F! So there was some commentary against our beloved shieldmaiden - but I think we've scared them off! Besides - the EE doesn't have any extra Arwen scenes so now they know what it's like lol! I'm just kidding - it is unfortunate there weren't more scenes overall! As for the dress, I think I'll make a fair pic during the Christmas holidays and I'll post it right after Leia! ;)

Charmander
December 20th,2004, 02:51 PM
I have to admit I've stayed away from the fanfic too - there's so much to read from Tolkien that I haven't quite felt the need, yet lol

Eowyn of Rohan - I think I'd want the starry mantle more than anything else - as an E/F fan it symbolises so much :)

Aletheia
December 20th,2004, 11:54 PM
ohhhh i agree Char!!!!! I was so sorry they didnt show him giving it to her in the movie....... :(

I was going through some fan fic last nite but i couldnt really find what i was hoping for......oh well. maybe that is a sort of severe mercy, since that way there is nothing to mar the beauty of the original story

cant wait to c the dress, EoR, is it the green velvet one she first wears, you said????(i have a couple of medival dresses, but no lotr ones-lucky u! :) )

Well Leia..just not to have you too disappointed when you'll see the dress..it's not a copy of the gorgeous first gown Eowyn had in TT..I'd better say it's a mix between it and the refugee one...but you'll see it, don't worry!! ;)

As for the mantle..awww...I know what you mean Charm! it's so romantic!

Charmander
December 21st,2004, 02:57 PM
I mean - if we weren't going to see the kiss we should have at least seen that! Aw - starry mantle :loveyou: makes me swoon! Faramir is such a sweetheart in those scenes :loveyou:

sounds pretty, eowyn!!! r u wearing it to an event or madrigals or something?

Starry Mantel......i luv that part very much in the bks!!!!! so sorry it didnt make it in....glad that they included it as a costume, though! i cant seem to find much more than a head shot as far as pics go for it.........wish they would release a full shot of it or 2....I would lik to c all of it :)
I luv E's clothes....i found a very good costume sight dedicated to lotr clothes alone:
www.alleycatscratch.com/lotr/
hope that worked....... ;)
I want a lotr dress soooooo bad!!!! & (dont make fun of me) i want the arwen coronation barbie.....hehehe....im such a chick!!& i luv it lol

I wish I had one of her costumes too, thet're so elegant royal and gorgeous!
I'm not wearing it at parties..Since this year I'll go to Paris I won't dare to bring it with me..I don't want to spoil it! ;)
We should start a petition: " We know you have filmed E/F wedding scenes and a lot of backgroud situation about them, so why don't you make a single DVD for us poor E/F addicted? Sincerly, Eowyn of Rohan and the Obsessed E/F club!"
What do you think?! I want to see a KISS!!

Aletheia
December 22nd,2004, 10:04 AM
Im totally joining that club!!!!!
*sighs* i luv E&F!!!!

I really want an Eowyn dress, & I would totally buy one (I am no good @ sewing) but, yeah, where the heck would I wear it???
Im out of high school so there r no fun madrigals for me to be in anymore, & between colleges, so I guess I would hafta wear it around the living room or something..... :p

Oh u r going to Paris??? VERY sweet!!!
My dream is to go to Oxford, some day....I would liv to c Paris though, too, but who wouldn't? :)

Welcome to the club then!!
That's exactly the point Leia! In which occasion would I wear it? It would be such a shame to lock it into the wardrobe! :(
My dream is to be at the steps of Meduseld wearing the white gown and just look at the mountains!! Awww, I'm an desperate dreamer!
Yes I'll finally see Paris! I'm leaving this sunday and I'll be back on jan 2nd! unfortunately I won't have access at my pc untill jan 9...But I'll tell you everything!
Are you going somewhere?

Aletheia
December 22nd,2004, 10:41 AM
I really wish there were more occasions to wear pretty dresses to......

Hope you have a great time in Paris!!!! I cant wait to hear about it!!!!! :)

Nope, I am not going anywhere anytime soon, unless it would be to bed, which would be a good idea ;) but i am in-between colleges @ the moment, & i am applying for a Honors program where I would get to spend a few semesters studying in Eng @ Oxford (Tolkiens school  )
i cant decide which school though.....

I'm not a skirt girl generally, but I'd love to show a nice Eowyn like dress around for a change!!
Ahah I'd go back to bed too, but I think I'm never completely awake!
Wow you could go at Tolkien's school!! That would be exciting!! Which subjects are you keen to learn?

Charmander
December 22nd,2004, 02:32 PM
You two are too funny! I think we should add that to our sigs - 'Obssesed E/F club'! I'm doing it! There's an A/A group too - Lady Arwen and Lady Galadriel are in it - or maybe 'Card-carrying member of E/F club' - we should probably decide on a name before adding it to our sigs lol!

That's a good point though - where would you wear it? I can't even think of any events that it would be appropriate to do that lol!

Paris - sounds nice Eowyn! My sister has been and says its nice. One of my cousins studied there for a year and loved it! Lethia - I've been to Oxford and it is pretty awesome! Of course - I love the UK - I wish I were there right now - excpet it would probably be colder than where I am now. I'm actually going to Florida for the holidays - so I probably won't be on-line for a few days - but ti's the season. Eowyn! I excpet a full report on Paris!!

I am planning to go to Paris some day.Especially after I graduate from college. I want to put my French to good use. My sister has a friend that she graduated from high school with that has been over in Europe for a couple of years.

Aletheia
December 22nd,2004, 09:23 PM
Oppps! Already put it in my sig-just decide on a name though & I will change it to fit asap ;)

To answer your ? EoR, I am a (planned...between colleges so nothin till later)
English/Eng. Comm. major w/ an emphasis in pre-rennasance & medieval lit.
I want to be a writer...*sigh*....someday maybe......
Untill then the Eng Comm is the practiacal part that will get me a "real" job, as my friends & parents call it :p
Char u have been? Lucky, indeed!

If I get a lotr dress Im gonna just make up an event & wear it!!! lol

Charmander
December 22nd,2004, 09:40 PM
I saw it in your sig and was most amused lol! I wish we knew more Old English - I would have said we could go with something like that - or not make it complicated...I don't know - any ideas? 'Obssesed E/F club' is fairly descriptive ;) Or maybe we could put something about join the cause to lobby for more E/F scenes in the E/F thread - I don't think I'm speaking very clearly lol

I want all her dresses - but I don't have anywhere to wear them :( They have a reinassance festival near us...

Aletheia
December 22nd,2004, 09:46 PM
Ohhhh, a renisance fest-now y didnt i think of that?? the Bristol ren faire is not to far away.....i need to trick a friend into dressing up too though or i will feel silly all by myself :p

hmmmm...something of a more creative name? I do have a dictionary of the languages of Tolkiens ME so maybe i will find something there.....any ideas??

Ok girls great news! I got the EE yesterday! i saw the movie and I loved it (I already knew that) but the E/F scenes are REALLY short!! :(
I wish I hadn't seen the comic con trailer!! they put there all the Hoh scene..
and I totally miss the kiss..I knew we couldn't have it all but still I hoped for something more!
this afternoon I'll watch the simphony DVD, and tonight cameras in ME.
sorry tho because I'll leave tomorrow and I probably won't have the time to add my review (I'll try anyway ;) ), so I wish to the whole E/F obsessed club a very merry Christmas and a Faramir new year!!! :faramir:  :cuddles:

Thats true . He is truly too cute for words. I may have to use a picture of him to make a LJ icon with Faramir and Eowyn. Since we got to see Eldarion, I am going to have him be Elboron.

Aletheia
January 2nd,2005, 02:17 AM
Wait...is Elboron their son??? I havent made it throuhg HoME yet so forgive my unlearnedness

I did flip through "the war of the ring" book though, & did u guys know Tolkien originally wrote Eowyn to die!!!!! (u prob knew this, i just had to get that out since i just found out... lol )So glad he changed his mind!! I luv Eowyn!!& what would Far do w/out his lady-love? lol

:( That would have been a very depressing thing if Tolkien had killed Eowyn off. mecry I really couldn't see our dear :faramir: with another woman. I was almost tempted to write a fan fiction about who Faramir would have married if Eowyn would have been killled off. Thankfully, I changed my mind.

Aletheia
January 2nd,2005, 10:04 PM
I know, they are perfect for each other...but Tolkien figured that out ;)

Actually, I have been seriously considering starting a fan-fic about our dear Prince & Princess of Ithilien......by going of the info we have from the books & attempting to keep it as tru to the original style & all.......haven't decided if I am up for the challenge yet though

I've heard, maybe on this thread or the Faramir one - that Professor Tolkien stumbled onto Faramir - I think I have to read his letters to get the full story. I try not to even think about LotR without both of them - there'd be little reason to enjoy it!

Rhianon
January 3rd,2005, 03:04 PM
 I once felt that I couldn't write a fan fiction. I have written two so far and they are both works in progress. One is called THE LADY AND THE STEWARD and the other is A FINE AND PRIVATE PLACE. They are both romances, though the later is more adult in tone. I have been able to post them on Livejournal.com.

Aletheia
January 5th,2005, 04:33 AM
Oh! :) I would like to read them!I will check that out, thanx!

Yeah, I read that too somewhere, Char.....maybe in some commentarie in HoME or somethin.....
I luv our dear Far & Wyn though so I cannot imagine LotR w/ out them

~Leia:rose:~

Charmander
January 5th,2005, 02:30 PM
I don't think we should even try :nono:! LotR without those two would be totally incomplete! Plus, who would have killed the Witchking? Well, I feel like I also heard that there was some talk about killing Eowyn on the battlefield - I am so glad that made it to the cutting room floor!!

Rhianon
January 5th,2005, 08:59 PM
 Kill off Eowyn in the movie! That would have been very unforgivable!I found the scene where Eomer finds her on the battlefield very touching. It made me want to cry. mecry

Charmander
January 5th,2005, 09:03 PM
That scene was sad - but I almost felt like it was a little overplayed - I mean, I knew they were close and all, but all the other scenes where they were together were so underplayed that this one almost seemed out of place. What really got me was the look on Eomer's face in the HoH! So much concern for Eowyn - that was a very sweet :eomer:!

Aletheia
January 6th,2005, 07:47 AM
That scene was sweet beyond words! It always makes me think of one of my friends & her brother b/c they are very much that close....
I wish there had been more scenes w/ the two of them, now that i think of it!
they had a really cool bro/sis relationship....I want a big bro like Eomer!

Oh, you are right Char!( about there being talk of killing poor Eowyn off in the movie)
I heard that mentioned somewhere on the EE & I was about ready to send New Line some very nasty letters!

~Leia:rose:~

Charmander
January 7th,2005, 05:27 PM
You know what though, their relationship isn't that prominent in the book though - I mean, Eomer is really upset when he finds her on the fields and then not with Theoden - but we never really got that interaction - did Professor Tolkien have any siblings?

Nereid
January 7th,2005, 05:41 PM
Eomer and Theoden isn't relatives...
Personly i would have react more to see my brother or sister dead/dying, like Eomer.
And Eomer is the older one, i guess..

That was confusing, right? lol

Charmander
January 7th,2005, 06:48 PM
I meant she wasn't with Theoden - in the funeral pyre when they return from Pelennor fields - sorry - now that I read it again I am a little confusing lol

It was probably a hard scene to emulate - for Karl Urban, I mean, an actor draws from their own experiences and to try to find a piece of you for that can't possibly be easy - that was really random lol

Nereid
January 7th,2005, 07:21 PM
hehe, now that i read it myself, i'm confused too! lol
But If Eomer is her big brother he probaly feel like he has failed her mayby... wild guess :)
I should quit this roflmao

Charmander
January 7th,2005, 07:27 PM
Don't quit! Then I'll be talking to myself lol! Well, if you look at the scene before that, when Eomer is like, war is men's work - he's telling her not to get any bad ideas - I think he knew that she had done this before - dressed up as a man. I can't even begin to imagine what he was thinking. In the book he wwas forced to fight through all the forces of Mordor to find Aragorn - he was at least able to get himself together for that.

Nereid
January 7th,2005, 08:12 PM
Well, it's hard do figure out what Eomer is thinking when he finds her dying.
Can be many things... it might be blaming him self cause he didn't stop her if he now knew that she could do things like that...
Mayby he's just sad about finding here dying... mecry

Hmm, this subject should mayby be moved to Eomers thread lol

Charmander
January 7th,2005, 08:30 PM
lol you're right, we could be talking in circles for hours about this lol

I thought the scene was well played

Nereid
January 7th,2005, 08:35 PM
yeah, i think that to.. he looked really upset and that kind of emotion is hard to act... personly i would have started to laugh trying to act serieus or sad... i can't do that lol

Great actor :hooray:

Hm, i always say personly roflmao

Rhianon
January 8th,2005, 03:05 PM
:read: I think that you are confusing the death of Theoden with the death of Denethor. Denethor was the one who tried to burn Faramir alive and died in the funeral pyre and Theoden died in the Battle of the Pelennor Fields.Eomer found Eowyn near their uncle and he assumed that she was dead. I hope that this clears everything up.

Eowyn of Rohan
January 10th,2005, 12:57 PM
Hi girls, I'm finally back! Congrats to Charmader, you kept the level of the thread preatty high!
I agree with you regarding the Eomer over-acting issue, not that I didn't like the scene, but I still have to find out how could he spot her in the middle of the battle field!! ;) then just two words... TOO SHORT!!! the HoH are not slightly as long as I hoped! (and I didn't have great expectations!!)
But hey, we can ask for an extra DVD on E/F!!
It was just me or any of you has heard on the ROTK EE extra DVD that they burnt the parts of the movie which are not in the EE?? :o

Rhianon
January 10th,2005, 02:56 PM
 That would be a good idea! They really should release a DVD of deleted scenes that didn't make the cut.

Charmander
January 10th,2005, 03:43 PM
No, I heard that too - about the burning - so I'm not sure what we can do now? I guess we could try to kidnap both Miranda and David - but that might get a little wierd  lol

Aletheia
January 11th,2005, 03:37 AM
Ah, the shortness factor, I am still sad about that... :( I really had high hopes for those scenes!:mecry:still!!

To answer a previous ?:Tolkien had one brother, i think, but i do not know how long that sibling lived...

lol that would be a good start!! I was just wondering...where did they put their'r wedding scene?? on Emyn Arnen.net there was a report of someone witnessing that scene!!! I want it!

Charmander
January 11th,2005, 02:53 PM
Didn't one of them confirm it in an interview? I feel like I've read somewhere that Miranda or David said that it was filmed - don't we have any insiders who are E/F fans?

Eowyn of Rohan
January 11th,2005, 03:31 PM
I don't know if there have been any official confirmation, I only read it on the web..I was really hoping that Philippa Boyens would have pressured to put the wedding in... :(

Charmander
January 11th,2005, 04:03 PM
Of all the people involved I was counting on her! PJ was always the :battle: type - but Fran and Phillipa should have insisted on all the wedding scenes!

Nereid
January 11th,2005, 09:39 PM
There is already a weeding in ROTK... mayby they thought two was too much... :(

Aletheia
January 12th,2005, 12:22 AM
Oh, a wedding would have been nice......

Eowyn of Rohan
January 12th,2005, 08:57 AM
Fran was the one following Arwen/Elrond/Aragorn's line, Peter as Charm said was all for the battles and Philippa wanted to bring back to life Boromir (O_O) so I hoped the she would have done everithing in her power to put E/F wedding at least in the EE... :(
So sad she didn't make it!

Charmander
January 12th,2005, 05:51 PM
I guess PJ just didn't see it's importance in the big picture :( To be fair, the A/A story is the more important of the two - but some equal representation might have been nice - we can dream :)

In other somewhat related news Tom Cruise was at an awards show recently and was hyping War of the Worlds - which is directed by Spielberg, but also stars our favourite sheildmaiden ;)

Rhianon

well PJ pretty much made up A/A story, don't want to start another discussion about this but that's the way it is! We would have deserved at least 10 minutes of E/F and what do we get? less than 2 minutes in which they barely talk to each other! well better stop now.. :p
Yay for Miranda and her finally rising career :hooray: :hooray:
