Which 1st Age weapon do you prefer?
Would it be Narsil, sword of Elendil, Anglachel (later reforged into Gurthang) , which was bourne by Beleg Strongbow and Turin, Angrist, bourne by Curufin and then Beren, Orcrist, sword of Thorin, Ringil, Sword of Fingolfin, Grond, Morgoth's Mace or any others?
My favourite would be Angrist, because it was bourne by a hero of the 1st age, and was used for a significant cause-- to cut free a silmaril from Morgoth's crown.

Well, I'd have to agree with Win... but I'd also say Anglachel. I liked it because Beleg knew it wouldn't stay with him long, and he didn't listen. Anglachel seemed cool... didn't Turin commit suicide with it? **thinks back to the Silm**

Finrod, is the part about Tuor's axe in the Lost Tales part 2? I love axes... especially when they are powerful.
For some non appearant reason I like Glamdring and Orcrist the best.
I love the way they glow when orcs are close. Did all the elvenweapons of the first age had that ability or were only the weapons of Gondolin able to do that? I've often wondered that.
I also think Belthronding, the bow of Beleg Strongbow is very cool. It's the only bow with a name amung all the swords, and it's often used and very feared.

I think Id have to say Narsil (the John Howe incarnation). Just something about that sword that I really like. Gurthang has too dark a history for me!

Hobbit, yes it appears in LT II
There has been some discussion about the Glow of 1st Age swords and there is no consensus. It would appear that only those three (Sting, Glamdring and Orcrist) did. There is some indirect references to other swords glowing but nothing that specifically says that they shone as a show of inherent power. Ringil glittered like crystal I believe when Fingonlfin dueled w/ Morgoth, Gurthang's edges shone, there is a reference to Narsil shining too but JRR does not specifically say that the emitted light as a result of inherent magic like the Sting, Glamdring and Orcrist

did anyone notice that in the movie Glamdring didn't glow? I suppose that it would only take emphasis and attention off of Sting (by the way, they missed a few glow-scenes with Sting too, like when Frodo is about to "get skewered [like] a wild boar" by the cave troll).
I still like Gurthang/ Anglachel.... (to stay on topic...)

Oops, just read some stuff about Narsil, it appears that it did shine by itself, so...

Narsil was forged by Telchar, I believe, and he was only around in the First Age
