I noticed I am about 300 posts shy of where I was last time I logged on. What happened to them? Did you delete some of the old threads?

I noticed it, too. At least it was only about a hundred... but where are they? mecry Are they the posts from Games section?

apparently, instead of just not letting anyone get any more points from games the ones people already had from games have been taken away as well. explaining the little mystery!

Hey Folks.......
I'll be posting this as an addition to the Sticky: Post Count Accrual and Top Ten Posters Display thread in the Announcements forum, but I suppose a little explanation here as well couldn't hurt.
I suppose I should have done this straight away when I disabled post acount accrual for the Gaming forum,, but yesterday after altering a member's username I had need to be in the Admin panel in order update forum and thread info. While there.....I got to thinking that things might not be reflecting accuratly due to the database errors that we received last month. (A couple of these errors were severe enough for us to have complete threads disappear even! :o) So it seemed logical to me to go to the Update Counters area and go through them to ensure everything is reflecting as it should.
One of the counters just happens to be "Update User Post Counts, which goes out to the database and verifies all post counts for accuracy and resets them as needed. Like I said, I probably should have done this straight away when I turned off the post count accrual for the Gaming forum. I did not think it would, but it makes sense now, that if the posts within that forum do not count that it would need to adjust accordingly.
My apologies for the surprise and any mental trauma that this may have caused. :p Just know that there is not a problem with the database and that the current totals are accurate.

I still haven't got back to where I was before some of our posts disappeared. That was about 2 wks ago. At approx 300 posts lost, that means I have been posting less than 150 per week (<21 a day). I guess Illu and Fatty should be happy. That means I am not spamming.
Adunauriel
June 21st,2003, 06:58 PM
Or you keep your spamming to a minimum....;)

Well she didn't get them all by keeping it at a minimum. ;)

Yea, but now, I'm not spamming that much anymore.. It's gonna take me awhile to get back to where I was before...;)

yeah, maybe that's my problem... i don't spam enough ;) hehe i just feel like it's not worth posting unless you've really got something to say  That's why i never really posted in any eateries or cafes or inns... it's like "Hey, i'll have a drink!" with no real important dialog in between... so my post count isn't as high as it could be lol but as we stated before: quality, not quantity ;)

I didn't post in the eateries when I first joined for the same reason, HobbitFriend. But I eventually wandered in to one and found some great new friends in the process.

yeah, true.... but i'm not very sociable like that... even online, i'm not the kind of person to just "walk" in and be like "hey! May I join you, Las?" I'm shy, what can I say ;) But really, War of the Ring has helped me a lot with that! I'm not as shy as I used to be! I mean before, i wouldn't even post on threads! Then I joined War of the Ring, before it even officially opened when there were very few people here. Even then, i didn't plan on posting a whole lot, but the people were just so friendly and i began posting more and more... now i'm not even as shy in public!... prancing around in my LotR freak shirt and thinking nothing of it! :p lol so... thumbs up to WotR! I'll have to stop by Ru's some time :chef: ;)
