I was looking at all the names on this forum and the variation in names is impressive. But then I wondered who here has the most original name. Who do you think has the most original name?

Tolkien uses Rumil a couple of times ... he is the brother of Hladir in Lord of the Rings and he is the elf that first invents writing in The Silmarillion - i think i prefer the Ru from the Sil if it's all the same ;)

I think the idea of collecting the best and having a poll is a great idea. Maybe people could write their suggestions or something for those who should be in the poll.

I also think explaination of weird names could be cool.
Here I'll start with mine. I belive that my name is quite Orginal as I can use it anywhere and no one else has it. I made the name up not for me but for my made up creature, that I drew. The species of creature which are Igtica helped me get a cool GCSE grade too!

I don't know if I'd consider mine as original, but I did look up some quenya websites and finally pieced a reasonably nice-sounding name. Winyaél means Evening Star in quenyan. Greenleaf... you guys should know lol

I translated my name on one of those websites and it came up as Pil-Gang for elvish....so i shortened it to Pil to make it easier to remember (and to login with!) :)

I think Wilwarin is original...doesn't it mean butterfly? :p

Ummm who are you asking BG. As I said before mine is my own made up creature's name. That name was made up by splicing two words together. I feel bad that no one here knows what I mean by an Igtica so I've put one of my awful pics on here.

That was not me being too nice, I'm not known to dish out flatter. :nono: I suppose in return I could claim that you're critisising my artistic sense...:( but I won't...cuz I'm not that touchy...! And I could have just said nothing about your drawing, which I didn't...so take the compliment and bow, cuz I liked it!;) I like pictures like yours, everything doesn't have to be naturalistic in order for people to enjoy! Ummm sorry! It wasn't suppose to be anything against you. In fact now that you've said that I curious to what your art is like. I bet it's amazing if you've an artistic sense! Amazing? Hardly. I haven't drawn for years, and not after getting a pc- and my scanner is broke, can't put anything anywhere. Nevertheless being interested in art doesn't mean that one has to be an artist...but I'm a decorator and I love everything design and art!

Well I did explain it right at the beginning of the thread, but as you asked, basically Igtica is a creature that I made up (for full story see first page) I saw it in a dream and made the name according to the creature. I did draw lots of pics of it but most are on paper, and I have no scanner. Yet I did draw a few on the awful MSPaint like this one: Igtica piccy (http://www.strike9.com/file.aspx?path=/igtica/fullsize/Icebeam3.jpg) . I hope to draw some better pics of it soon on PSP once I'm used to it. I know that that pic is pretty bad.

Thanks for the update though Meneldor, I have to say that I like your name! It is true about the Arwens but again, Arwen is a nice name so no wonder.
