What are your views on this issue? I think it is ridiculous to hurt somebody over such a materialistic matter. Has anyone ever had an experience of this or has known someone who has? I remember people in our school bullying a younger kid into giving away some rare cards, and I thought it was unfair (they were tricking him into thinking the common cards were worth more). verymad
The true fun of collecting and playing cards is playing fairly - I just wish everyone would understand that!

I remeber seeing this on the news! I remember think it was unfair that schools were banning cards all because of a few minor squabbles with little kids after hearing some of the harsher stuff! As every card collector knows, your cards become rather precious items, but sometimes kids can take things too far or can't understand properly. It's a real same really :(

My belief is that parents don't bother to teach their kids about right from wrong anymore. Everyone seems too afraid of wanting their children to be their best friends and avoiding confrontation that reprimand has gone the way of the 8-track player. Its a shame that trading card games have to suffer.

True, Las, and it's not only TCGs which do, unfortunately. Collectibles in general suffer from this... those bullies won't seem to stop at anything to aquire "what's hot"... do you know anyone who has been victim to this?

I am not in school anymore, but I hear this type of story on the news. One I heard was a kid who got Charizard holographic card taken from him by a bully and got beat up. I think it was in Chicago, but I can't remember.

 holo charizard! I love that Pokemon card. But I've heard similar tales to that one Las and thats why they were band in playgrounds in the UK. I can actually recall my brother coming back from school after taking his holo Aerodactyl, and it had been bent and creased in a fight. It's a real shame, as he gave up on all TCGs and now I have that card, I wish it wasn't ruined :(

Why do people have to be that way? Its stuff like that that makes me want to go to the "Poll: Our modern world? Or the world of the Elves? " thread in FotR forum and answer the world of the Elves.

p.s. I did a google search and found out some info about that holo Charizard info (my curiosity got the better of me). The kids parents were very unhappy and they sued (and won) the parents of the kid that stole the card. That kid ended up expelled (I suspect more because he beat up the younger kid than because he stole a card) and the younger kid got his Charizard back.

Well at least the kid got his holo Charizard back. I can see why the victim won though! Well done to Law for helping retrieve that card!

I have no idea why people are so selfish sometimes. It's weird, I'd never even dream of doing anything like that. It's morally wrong and stupid. I sometimes wonder if I am human if there are so many people out there calling themselves human, when they go around doing this stuff.

Yes i was on the street with some guys and one guy had Charizard glitter(from pokemon cards) Then other guys apperared and one guy began to fight with him because he wanted that card, really ridicilous. How can you be so agressive for a simple paper card :S

I agree, Neilpryde. Here's another story about a holo Charizard! At a Pokemon event, a boy had a set of cards that he was really pleased with, and he was showing them to some people there. He put them in his backpack and they were stolen by an older boy. One of the people there had an edition 1 Charizard (worth about $200) and gave it to the boy who was crying because he'd had his cards stolen. That's a tale of kindness. :)

Aww thats so cute mecry ! That is truely beyond kindness! Why is it always holo Charizard? Looks like Pokemon cards are the main reason so far, I guess it's because of the big 'fad', it's a shame as most people have forgotten now what a great game it was and continues to be.

To be honest though I think the cards are more than just 'paper' they have so much meaning. I mean getting a holo like Charizard makes you feel so lucky and happy. i think it's these feelings that cause the jealousy, not just the cards.

Charizard was always desired because it was seen to be the "rarest and best" of all the Base Set - where in reality it was no rarer than any of the other rares. Kids were impressed by its ability to do 120 damage, and so it earned its reputation as a valuable card. The cool card picture helped. Still, that's no reason to try and steal that card...
