the rabbit stew sam and frodo had, it must have been superb considering they hadn't eaten very well at all since Lothlorien. :)

The lembas sounds really good...tho I'm a bit puzzled by the authors mentioning krum-kake-iron...cuz I thought that was a purely norwegian gadget, and it seems like its not! :elfeek: Is this common to find in kitchens all over the world? I can clearly see how the bread would come out utterly beautiful from it!

i've never heard of one...but quite a lot of the stuff there i havemn't heard of and most of them are in english!

I found my great- grandmothers krumkake- jern in the back of my closet! BG, I suppose oz/ounces are the same in England as in America. One cup is, according to my dictionary, supposed to be 8 oz in America, and 10 oz in England. Anybody know what nationality the cups in question are?:p

Cups and oz were a complete mystery to me when I first tried to follow an american recipy, we don't use that at all! Decilitres and litres, grams and kilos only! Well we have teaspoons...!

February 27th,2003, 03:30 PM
Well. I tried the lembas, with the krumkake- iron and all, and when it comes to appearance, they came out very beautiful! For you guys who don't know this gadget, its used to make a special norwegian cookie, (maybe they make this in Sweden as well for all I know!), which when done baking is shaped to a cornet. The iron itself has a beautiful pattern of swirls and spirals, I guess you could say almost elvishlike! The lembas tasted quite good, the consistency was biscuitlike, the taste is semisweet, but fresh because of the orange peel. By the way, I couldn't find the orangeflower- water, so I used a little orangejuice instead. It was allright, saving my hurrahs for something else, though. The looks were better than the taste!
