I think Sindarin is spoken in the movie.
From what I know, Quenya is more complete, since Sindarin developped from Quenya.
Quenya is also more difficult than Sindarin, with more grammar rules and such.
At least.. I think so :) since I've forgotten most of what I found in the appendix E, ... you could try to read some threads here to find out, and of course there's a lot in appendix E.

I think it is the Sindarin which is used frequently, too. It was the language of the Grey Elves, and I think they were spoken the most in Middle Earth.

That is correct...to go to the deeper end, Quenya was the language the Noldorin elves spoke from old. When they returned to Middle Earth from Valinor, they stayed for a while with the Grey- elves, who never went to Valinor...Sindarin was their language, had evolved from Quenya. It was then banned by the Noldor due to the differences between some of them and the Valar, and fell out of use. It finally became a seremonial language.
Quenya is to Sindarin what Latin is to Italian, so to speak. And even if both languages were used in the movies, Sindarin is the language you hear the elves speak...Gandalf and Saruman had some Quenya lines...fighting eachother when the fellowship tried to cross the Caradhras f. ex. Sindarin is the everyday tounge. It is less complete than Quenya, that means for one thing less words...but they are both beautiful languages!

I would be flattered, even if it wasn't ment as a compliment! You did quite a good job explaining it Cuiel. I wasn't doing it because I just didn't have the time. I figured someone else would eventually. Besides, you explained it much better than I would have *cheers*

>>Valinor...Sindarin was their language, had evolved from Quenya>>
Not precisely. Sindarin developed from Common Eldarin the branching point of _both_ Quenya and Sindarin. The Elves that crossed the sea developed quenya while the dark elves developed nandorin, sindarin and a slew of other dialectal varieties.
