Does anyone here read Shakespeare? He is my favorite author :) My favorite play by him is Romeo and Juliet, or Hamlet, and my favorite sonnet is #116. :read:

I love Romeo and Juliet, but by no means is he my favorite author.

The story of Romeo and Juliet is something a lot of us can relate to, although not in every detail... I tend to really enjoy stories that I can sit back and say "I know exactly how he is feeling because I've been in the exact same situation." I "become one" with the book, for lack of a better way of putting it. Now that I'm completely off topic, I now return you to your regularly schedualed program.

I've only read Romeo and Juliet and A Midsummer Night's Dream.... I enjoyed both of them very much, although I read neither of them by my own choice (school assignments). I believe we're reading Julius Ceasar next year and I'm looking forward to it.

I like reading his works, but find it rather exhausting... I tend to analze every line and try and delve into its symbolism and deeper meanings instead of just reading along, you know? So I don't exactly read him for leisure. lol

Polanskis Macbeth? Never heard of it ;) I tried to read MacBeth once, but I never finished it.

Yes, A Midsummer Night's Dream is a very good play! Wonderfully hilarious! Especially when one of the players gets his head turned into an donkey's head! lol

Shakespeare is deffinitely a very good author, although in my school i seem to be the only person who thinks so...
i dont normally like gushy mushy romantic stories about *love* but R&J was very good.

Don't know if I'd qualify him as my favorite author, but definately up there. I rather enjoy his tradgedies where everyone dies! Probably Hamlet or McBeth are my favorites there. Also like his comedies, though would be hard pressed to choose a favorite amoung them

I love Shakespeare, too! My faves are Twelfth Night and King Lear. A couple of years ago I was a regular volunteer at the local Shakespeare Festival. Unfortunately, work and evening classes have kept me from signing up again. :(

I love King Lear, Macbeth and Hamlet. I saw a production of King Lear once with Ian Holm, he was great as the title character. Of the films, I really like the Kenneth Branaugh version of Hamlet, the Mel Gibson one isn't that greatIMO (though I love Mel). I assume you mean the Kenneth Brannaugh/Denzel Washington Much Ado About Nothing and yes that is quite humerous. Does anyone like any of the modern versions of Shakepeare works? Romeo and Juliet with Leo Dicaprio is breathtaking. I have not yet seen "O" or Ethan Hawke's modern Hamlet, but I also like 10 Things I Hate About You because it is very well done and much more than a silly "teen" movie IMO.

Yes, I've seen the modern version of Romeo and Juliet. Many a time, actually ;) I even have the special edition DVD

Ethan Hawke's Hamlet is pretty good, though my favorite one is the one with Mel Gibson in it.

I've watched 10 things I hate about you a few times, and it was interesting, definitly not my favorite, but interesting nontheless.
