I've been toying around with wargames for a few years now and I've found something interesting, while flipping through an article in Dragon magazine I found the advertisment for "Fields of Blood: The Book of War" which is a d20 (for those of you who don't know, d20 is basically the rules for Dungeons and Dragons) supplement designed around mass combat for table top battles. If you've played D&D 3rd edition then you know how well designed those rules are for combat. We've currently agreed in my role playing game sessions to include one off day where we use the FoB to interact with our campaign as to also effect the outcome of the nation we're in, but lets get to what is important, has anyone out there considered using a d20 system in order to attempt to recreate the historic battles of LotR? Or perhaps at least a small skirmish? I think it would be a wonderfully grand thing to play out, especially using miniatures from GW's LotR ranges or Black Tree Design Limited's Lords of the Realm miniatures (ever notice that Lords of the Realm is remarkable similar to the forces in Lord of the Rings? They even share the same abbreviation).
