I would like to aquire a weapon from the lotr movie. I would like to ask some questions first, and hopefully someone could answer me thanks.
Are the weapons life size?
Do the weapons come as if i could actually use it? and is it usable for say pratising or just fun with my brother? Don't worry, we both have a black belt in katate, no need to worry about choped off limbs... hopefully. :)
Also, where would the best place to buy it from be? i'm talking about those ones that appear all over the web.
I was hoping to get the sword arwen carries, it looks great, if not then most likely the sword aragorn carries... Narsil is it not?
Thank you for all the help you could provide, it will be much appreciated.

Yes they are. Each of the weapons produced by UC is directly modled off a prop, with as much detail is feasable.

Unfortunately the answer is a resounding NO. There are two manufacturers of LOTR weapons - United Cutlery and The Noble Collection. Both make weapons from stainless for ease of handling and as wall hangers, not as combat blades. I wouldn't trust any of the blades for any contact as they are not designed for that.

In the movie, Aragorn carries what is refered to as the "ranger sword" or "strider's sword". Narsil has yet to be reforged - though there is a replica of both.

My place of choice would be
Arms of Valor (http://www.armsofvalour.com/). I have personally delt with the owner and he is a great guy with excellent knowledge of swords and even carries several combat ready varaitions of the LOTR swords.
For more information on LOTR replica swords you might want to check the following sources:

I have also peronally handled two of the LotR swords, and you can find my reviews on the following links:

Thank you very much Orc, unfortuntely i was really looking for a combat ready sword, as I'm not really into shoving something on my wall to look at... oh well, what a shame, thanks anyway. BTW: i have 2 sih's (spelling) , it's such a cool weapon :)

Fortunately there are some 'inspired by' combat ready weapons out there. They do not look exactly like those in the movie for the obvious copyright reasons. Arms of Valor has both a Ranger Sword (Strider's) and Elven Fighting knives (Legolas') available. I've seen a couple other swords out there as well, but don't remember who made them.
