I know this was sort of posted before, but I wanted to bring up the subject once again...

Who do you think portrayed their characters to the most believable and most accurate? (And why - maybe give a good example/scene from the movies which you particularly liked that Actor's portrayal in).

I really liked all of the Actor's portrayals. But I really liked Ian McKellen's Gandalf because he was sooo incredibaly convincing as a Wizard - exactly how I pictured him when I'd imagine as a child. A specific scene that shows Ian McKellen's portrayal is when they are in the mines of Moria and Gandalf "fights" the Balrog.
And I really really liked Cate Blanchette's Galadriel. I think that she was very convincing as the Lady of Light. Her scene was easily the part when she shows Frodo the mirror.
I also really liked Sean Astin's Samwise Gamgee, and Elijah Wood's Frodo. I also really liked Orlando Bloom's Legolas.

I agree, Lobelia Celebrian. With all you mentioned.

I personally really liked Elijah Wood portraying Frodo. In the books, as he gets closer to Mordor, he gave me the feeling that he is "silent", in a way. He hides his feelings, towards Sam and the Ring. He doesn't "complain". That's the exact feeling I got from him in The Two Towers. And his face is very "expressionable". Which comes in handy when such matters are at hand, ;).

I also like Dominic Monaghan and Billy Boyd as Merry and Pippin. They seem like they truely have had a close friendship for a long time. I think Billy Boyd (Pippin) does especially good. In the beginning, he seems like just a regular Hobbit, content and happy, (and causing mischief, :p ). But, as the movies progress, he shows his "maturity", and courage. He shows that he's more than he seems. Billy Boyd does that very well, I think, :) .

I like ALL the actors for these movies, and I think that no other actors could have done a better job, .

I agree with both of you. I also think that Boromir did a terrific job in his role, he was destined to be the character that everyone loved to hate up until his death, where he shows true bravery in defending the hobbits, well, to the best of his ability! But, I think, overall, the movie definately captured the essence and spirit of the book, and I think that Tolkien would have been rather proud of Peter Jackson's interpretation of his books. I'm getting off subject a bit, :), but I agree with you, Lobelia, about Gandalf's role. Its almost exactly as I had pictured him when I first read the books!
