Has anyone read this book? I thought it was really cute, much like the Hobbit in a way because it is written for children. It's about a dog who goes on adventures as a toy. It's got wizards and dragons and all that, too. I loved it. :grin:

It was translated last year and I bought it when it came out, but never read... actually I read the irst couple of pages but it doesn't really count... I should get to it sometime soon

Tolkien wrote it for his son Michael. Michael (who at the time was a young boy) had a toy that he loved: a little spotted dog. He lost the toy at the beach one day. To comfort his son, he wrote the story about a dog that was turned into a toy and goes on adventures.

When I read this book I can tell that Tolkien really loved his family. :)
