Every once in a while, I read an article on the Special Edition DVDs for the LotRs. I hear criticism of the fact that they are releasing two different editions of each movie. Apparently, they think that this is pure corporate greed on the movie maker's part. Reguardless of the motives, the extended editions are a wonderful idea. Just seeing the deleted scenes on other DVD's in the special features are a poor substitute for having those scenes cut back in the movie. I intend to but both DVDs for all three movies. What do you think?

That's what I'm going to do, too, for all of them.
At least with the Fellowship, sometimes I want to just watch the theater length one, other times I want the more complete story. There are good and bad points about both versions.

And I understand that the movie makers wanted to give us the longer version, but had to cut a shorter version to get it into theaters, not the other way around. And the comentaries and extras are different for each set. I hardly think they would have worked so hard for so many years just out of greed. If so they could have made the Blair Witch Project or something else with a big return for very little work. Those people who talk about it being for greed are obviously just jealous of anyone's success.
I know people like that.

You know what??!! i also think its a good idea... and i would agree which those who bad mouth that they would hide the fact that an extended would go out!

they just give you the choice...either you wait for the extended as i will... or you buy the theater release now... simple..

I think they are a god idea becasue New Line could only let the films be a certain length they had to cut important bits out. With the extended ones it explains things a lot more so it is easier for the audience to understand what is happening so they should stop dissing thempfbbt
