I usually don't really go for Christian shows and bands and whatnot, but I think Veggie Tales is cute. *starts singing* Everybody's got a water buffalo! Your's is fast, but my is slow! Everybody's got a water buffalooooooo!!
Perhaps that is why I like it- not everything is Bible related..... I mean, find me a water buffalo in the Bible. ;)
I think it's great for young kids to learn about the Bible's teachings- they would rather watch Veggie Tales than read the Bible.
I can't really participate in the poll, because I've only seen a couple episodes (and that was a while ago too). I think the cucumber is though (but I don't remember his name)..... Oh, where is my hairbrush? Ooooh where is my hairbrush? ah.... fun stuff.

I LOVE Veggie Tales! I really, really do!! I love all the important characters, and the Christian teaching in it is pretty good for kids. But though I'm not a "kid" anymore, I still love watching them. They're not that childish at all. :)
Some of my favorites are: Ultimate Silly Song Countdown, King George and the Ducky, and Larry Boy and the Fib from Outer Space. I haven't watched Jonah yet, but I'd very much like to.

Brr...Christian shows. Sounds like something I wouldn't watch if they put a gun to my head. Let's say that I 'm not in favor of Christian things or anything to do with religion at all. But that's just my opinion.

You like RK? I met the dudes! I love the Pirates who Don't do anything! Especially when they burp in the song! lol lol
I grew up with Veggie Tales. I started watching them when I was five, and now I am 14. I mean, I still have them. I watch them when I feel bad. My favorite would have to be between Esther (the queen got thrown out because she wouldn't make a sandwich, I was laughing at that) or the Lyle musical. Jr. is so CUTE!
*singing off key* I have to go to the BAAATHRROOOOOM!!!!
lol lol

Well, I wouldn't go as far as to say they are a Christian version of Monty Python, but they are very funny. ;) People in doubt of Veggie Tales' hilarity should at least listen to the Silly Songs.... they're sure to win anyone over.

I have just watched Jonah today. It was pretty fun, and it included the hyped up remix version of The Pirates who don't do Anything! The CG quality was pretty good, too!
Did you know that Phil Vischer, the president of Big Idea, does the voice of about 10 characters in VT? It's really amazing.

Our whole family is into the Veggies. My 19 yr old is in love with the French Peas, Jean-Claude & Phillipe. When they did the French guards from Holy Grail in Josh & the Big Wall... SSOOOOOOOOOOOOO funny! Python should be proud of the comparison!
No one has mentioned that they are top quality COMPUTER ANIMATED vegetables. They are billed as Sunday morning values with Saturday morning FUN! Larry Boy, the super-hero is not to be missed.
DON'T let the Bible themes get in your way.
:trout: = A flash from Jonah? lol Flash back to Monty Python's fish-slapping dance?

My fav song (not including Silly Songs) would have to be "I love my duck", or "Oh no!".
"We could throw him in the Tigris, let him float awhile, then we'll all sit back and watch him meet a hungry crocodile. We could put him on a camel's back and send him off to Ur, with a cowboy hat without a brim, a boot without a spur...."

I am 18 now, and I still looove VTs! I have 2 of the "Veggie Tunes" CDs, and 4 Veggie videos. For Christmas, I bought the "Ultimate Silly Song Countdown". It cracks me up!!! (Especially "Do the Moo Shoo".:jester: :Larry and Jean Claude are my 2 fav. characters.
One of my ultimate favorite songs is: "Oh Santa!" I don't know why...I never even BELIEVED in Santa, but I luv that song!(and "Oh where is my hairbrush?")

To the Raspberry Forest.
From the peaceful Flobbiton,
To the Land of Woe.
They’ve been seeking it…..
An army of Sporks sent to find one thing……
THE BEAN OF POWER!
But the Bean has been given to a most unlikely Flobbit ,
Named Toto Baggypants.
With the help of his friends,
Toto must make the journey through Center-Earth,
To discover what his gift is for.
Every gift is given for a reason.
Each person must chose what to do with the ones they are given.
Coming this November from the studios of Big Idea:

Awe, that's so sad. I've been out of the VT's loop for so long now...I hardly know anything that's going on with it:( But my fave songs are...The Pirates Who Don't Do Anything...and Where Is my Hairbrush? <---I get that one stuck in my head a lot...I just stick different words to it.lol I love RK's version of the Pirates..that's awesome.
Here's the sad part...I used to work with someone who's super into VT's...he's got probably their whole collection or something like that...and he's 29?? So, when I was bored...and we were both not working...we'd watch some VT...it was awesome..lol...that shows true dedication...to something:lmao:

All must see "Lord of the Beans"! It's so funny! In my opinion, it's the best Veggietales they've come up with yet. But, of course, you'll only get the humour if you've seen Lord of the Rings... And I assume all of you have.... *suspicious glare*

OMIGOSH!!! GUYS, I LOVE VeggieTales!!!! Ok, Lord of the Beans was AWESOME, lemme just say that. I was chuckling through the whole thing. *thinks of Ear of Corn with his big yellow cloak* o man!! :lmao:
Jonah has the Pirates who don't do anything in the whole thing, and it's my favorite movie! They're sooooo funny!!!! roflmao Anyone see Ballad of Little Joe??? That has the best silly song!! (you've gotta see it to understand what I mean) and the silly song on Minnesota Cuke and the Search for Samson's hairbrush was great too.
and speaking of the pirates who don't do anything, I was humming that all day at work today. my coworker was like "WHAT are you singing?????"
Frodo's Pearl
July 10th,2007, 02:04 AM
Hahaha!!! Yeah, I love "Little Joe." The ones I haven't seen yet are "Minnesota Cuke", "Gideon", and some new one.
SamwiseAtHeart
July 10th,2007, 03:22 PM
I haven't seen several of the new ones. My favorites are the old ones though, the classics. Josh and the Big wall is always a good one.
I have seen Little Joe and the Jonah movie.

Heheh, now whenever we get Keebler Cookies, we point to Ernie the Elf and say, "There's Legolas' (Legolamb's) brother, The Other Elf!" And yeah, I love it when Ear o Corn saying, "Ya gotta dress for the weather!" :elf::lmao:

July 11th,2007, 04:37 PM
Yeah, that's great!!!! lol I just love the silly song on Little Joe! Boyz in the Sink hafta be my favorite band! ;) The kids in my carpool would replay that song over and over when we watched the movie. I haven't seen Gideon, or the Bad Apple, but I'm going to see Mo and the big Exit soon.
I agree SaH, the older ones are good. Especially Josh with the Cebu song!
Frodo's Pearl
July 11th,2007, 05:33 PM
Madame Blueberry is funny too, with the treehouse and everything.
BTW, you did you feel when Larry said in "Beans", "I hope we didn't offend anyone"?
BelovedCaptain
July 11th,2007, 05:50 PM
You mean, was I offended? Nah, the whole thing was just too dang funny!!!! If we ever meet the cast of LotR, Pearl, we should sit them down and have them watch "Beans", whaddaya think o'that?
Frodo's Pearl
July 11th,2007, 07:44 PM
Ha, that would be SO great! (I guess it's something Dom Billy and Elijah would like lol ) Yeah, I wasn't offended either; I knew that it was strictly parody, and something that was just plain fun.

Another great silly song is the "Dance of the Cucumber" where Larry is singing in Spanish and Bob is translating. I've always loved that one lol
Frodo's Pearl
July 13th,2007, 04:36 PM
Oh, and I really like the one "Lyle the Kindly Viking", when the first half of it is a performance of Shakespeare's "Omlette" (Hamlet.) That was so funny.
In "Larry Boy and the Bad Apple" they also manage to have a "Willy Wonka" theme in one part. lol What'll they think of next!?
BelovedCaptain
July 14th,2007, 03:34 AM
Dance of the Cucumber is a classic, SaH! ;)
I love the Lyle one. Omelette was so crazy!
I haven't seen bad apple yet!! :-/ *pouts*
I saw Moe and the Big Exit. That one's cute, guys! It is so much like the real story, almost truer to the Bible than Prince of Egypt.
They're coming out with a new one called Pirates who Don't do anything. I was hoping for some Pirates spoofs, but the preview for it didn't seem to promise much. :(

I can quote that whole part. The peas in the backround are the best!! and at the end of that one, where the peas are looking like Bob and Larry....lol :lmao: I love the silly song on Minnesota Cuke.
Frodo's Pearl
July 16th,2007, 11:11 PM
Another funny one was "Sheerluck Holmes", where the other story in it was a takeoff on Don Quiote (I don't know how to spell that) where Archie and Mr. Lunt are the two heroes. They own a nice little cafe in Mexico, until a huge resturant moves in across the street...
SamwiseAtHeart
July 18th,2007, 03:50 AM
For the longest time I used to thing Archibald was a girl. It was because of "the Water Buffalo Song" silly song where he burst in on Larry when he was singing and started blabbering on and telling Larry off for being so silly in this higher pitched voice. And he was waering a bowtieish thing that I thought looked more like a dress or necklace or something...
I know better now lol
Annawen
July 18th,2007, 06:18 AM
LOL, that's funny! lol
So, do any of you have a particular favorite quote?
I love Larry's quote in 'Dave and the Giant Pickle':
"Hey, look! I'm a Larry-Go-Round!" lol
BelovedCaptain
July 18th,2007, 09:33 PM
Sheerluck holmes was great!!! (but the Don Quixote thing was kinda weird )
And that's quite understandable, SaH, at least he's upgraded since then. ;)
That's a great quote, I almost forgot about that one!
But sheesh!! I dunno if I have just one fave quote.... hmm, well, I do like in Sheerluck holmes the fish'n'chips guys. Everytime one of them says "Move along" the other says "nothing to see here!"
I like Ear of Corn: "If you're clever, you can keep your nose warm!!" lol
Ok, here's a question, how many of them have you seen??? :p
Frodo's Pearl
July 19th,2007, 01:41 AM
It's funny in "Sheerluck Holmes" when they're trying to understand the accent of the Scottish carrot, and the maid says, "I speak Scottish!" lol
I have seen most of them, except for the ones I've mentioned earlier.

Oh, I think my favorite quote and the one I quote in real life most often is Larry saying "I'm wet" When he had fallen in the sink and Bob turned on the faucet. I forget what episode that was... but I think Larry fell in teh sink because he was wearing a sock on his head.
Frodo's Pearl

That's one of the funniest veggietales, SaH. It's on Rack, Shack and Benny and he was wearing an oven mitt. Luv that one! :lmao:
I haven't seen the bad apple, easter carol, a snoodle's tale, sumo of the opera, or gideon the tuba warrior.
they play veggie tales on tv now, but they skip the silly songs! What's up with that???!! :nono:

July 21st,2007, 12:11 AM
:o That's no good. :( I did not know that. You would think that they would keep those in there.
SamwiseAtHeart
July 21st,2007, 04:19 AM
The Silly songs are the best! I can't imagine why they'd skip those.
Have you guys seen the silly song music video. It's the one where the pirates who don't do anything first appeared with their song. I'm just thinking about "The New and Improved Bunny Song" since Rack Shack and Benny was mentioned. Both versions of the song were pretty funny. and I think Nezzer has a great voice. It's fun to listen to anyways.
Frodo's Pearl
July 21st,2007, 09:32 PM
"Easter Carol" is great. It features the voice of Rebecca St. James, a really good Christian singer. I didn't see the "Snoodle's Tale" either. I heard the "New and Improved Bunny Song" on a cassette. I'll never stop loving it! :D Did I hear that on the TV show, all the moral stuff is omitted also? If that's true, what a bummer! :(
Annawen
July 22nd,2007, 12:14 AM

I have a question, guys. Which one is the Pirates Who Don't do anything song appear on???
Frodo's Pearl
July 22nd,2007, 09:34 PM
I think it's on the first sing-along Silly-Song video. I've actually never seen that one either; I think the sing-along videos aren't as good as the regular ones. But still...
On the "Jonah" soundtrack there's a version of that song done by the band Reliant K. It's rock, but it's quite funny too.
BelovedCaptain
July 23rd,2007, 08:16 PM

SamwiseAtHeart

I looove the Bellybutton song.
You've probably noticed this, but that song in "Lord of the Beans" sung by the "Umbrella Boy" has some parts in it that are in the drinking song in FotR. lol

I don't know the whole thing, but part of it goes something along the lines of..
I'm a lucky fellow
I'm a lucky boy
I've got a new umbrella
And it's me pride and joy.
The rain may fall
And the wind may blow
And I'll be dry from head to toe...
Oh, I'm a lucky fellow...

Actually, that's where it's different. There's a blonde scallion girl, but she's a princess and they have to help her save a prince. That much I know. She thinks they're heroes. ;)
