Oh Boy! This movie was pretty dumb - redeemed only by the funny character Depp plays and Antonio Banderas' eyes. It was so ridiculous and slapstick that it was a bit funny - but only a bit. There is one very LOTR scene with Antonio skateboarding (grinding) down the staircase on his guitar case - do you think they were poking fun?
Who else has seen this? What did you think - does Johnny do justice as a blind agent? mecry

Hey RingBearer - long time no parley, since before you were MoM.
This flic is workable if seen totally as a comedy. I'm sure it's ridiculousness is quite intended. Depp had his sister in Florida pick out the crazy t-shirts & hats. He brought his own mustache collection from home and his actions as a blind man are not the least bit believable. What I liked best were the awful American accent and lines they gave Johnny. It was completely out of context with the Mexican background.
Was Desperado as silly? I haven't seen it.

This makes me kinda sad- I was looking forward to seeing it. But now, I don't know if I'll spend $6 to see it.
Desperado isn't silly.... lots of blood, guts, and explosions from what I remember (a really gorey part when they show a man getting his leg broken). Plus, Steve Bushemi (sp?) is in it.... I love him.

Hello my Floridian Friend!
Sorry to be the bearer of sad tidings. Once....Mexico is more along the lines of the other Indie films Depp does. It's pretty funny that he plays the part of the ayehole American considering his recent remarks in the media. But he can do almost no wrong in my current frame of mind. What's $6 ? - just plan on a laugh rather than a thought or a cry.

Hello my Pennslyvanian friend!
$6 for a two hour movie that has only decent ratings isn't my idea of a good bargain. $6 is a lot of money in my little jobless world. ;) I can wait a couple of months to see it in the dollar theater.

Oooo Ooooo, You got a dollar theater? I want one of those!!!

Well, it's a $1.50 at night, and a dollar for the matinee. It's just easier to say 'dollar theater' than '$1.50 theater'. ;)

Is that with or without tax? And how much is the popcorn?

Um... no tax. We don't have to pay tax (unless it's already built in). The sign says $1.50, they ask for $1.50 and we pay $1.50.
And I never get popcorn, being the cheap person I am. I would guess somewhere around $2.50-3.00 for a medium or large. I'm not really sure.

I'm not one to take charity......
But, on second thought..... I'll send you my address in PM. ;)
You know, I do pay $6 for movies that I want to see (like LOTR), but if I can wait, I wait (Once Upon... is one of the ones I can wait for). Frugal, perhaps.... but not entirely too stupid.

Ok, frugal is fair. Next, I wanna talk about Identity. I'll start a new thread.

I loved it. Silly throughout and plainly too complicated but very entertaining. Thought it was very violent for a 15 though. Should have just been like its predessecors, especially at the 'knee' moment ;)

I don't know why I liked the section with Depp blind - it was so funny and I love him in black. For some reason I was also humored by the "guitar village" closer to the beginning of the flic. I don't think the place had running water, but it had 3 million guitars!
