Ordered the soundtrack as well, which is meant to be great as well as having one or two trailers on the disc cut by QT himself!!

I sooooooooooooo hope that this will be a great movie, but it might be a bit overhyped. Tarantino is brilliant and all but I think that the anticipations are enormous for this movie. When is part 2 released?
Cool trailer btw
EDIT, a friend gave the 'reservoir dogs' script as a present for my birthday. Soooooo cool

I got the soundtrack in the post today and it rocks big time. Some great classical stuff as well as many disco style tracks and, of course, the infamous trailer music ;)
Gonna be the second best film of the film ;)

I just saw the trailer today (I hate downloading stuff.... it takes so freakin' long on my computer). I am very excited!! Not a huge fan of Uma Thurman, but I think I'll be able to get over it.

I saw the trailer for this a few days ago and I'll say that I'll be watching it. I quite like Tarantino's style and while I'll admit to not being a fan of Uma Thurman this could possibly be the movie that will change my opinion of her (at least from what I can make out in the trailer) [I still shudder at those old rumours of Thurman being cast as Eowyn.....*shudder*]

For all the Tarantino fans- all next week at 7pm (eastern time) on Trio, Quentin Tarantino will be showing all his favorite movies (not his movies, but just his favorite in general). I think it'll be interesting to watch- try to get into his head a bit.

I just saw "Kill Bill" today, and it's a pretty good film. Violent, but good.
Throughout the film, Tarantino brilliantly incorporates several different film types into the movie - most noticable is Quentin's capturing the style of those amazing samurai/kung-fu movies of the 60s and 70s.
The acting is fairly good; the action is pulse-driven in pure Tarantino-esqe style; the settings, cinematography and choreography are brilliant; and the soundtrack is extremely well-done.
Overall, I recommend this film, and I can't wait for Volume 2 next year.

I heard something about that Uma Thurman was totally tired after shooting each day and actually cried from the tiredness. (I wouldn't blame her, all that fighting!)
Not that I'm going to see this film, but the trailer looked interesting. (I did wonder what the movie was about exactly until I went to the Yahoo Movies page and found out!)

Could someone who has seen the other tarantino movies and would call himself a fan, compare this movie to the previous movies.

I just saw it this afternoon. I didn't like Pulp Fiction, so I didn't expect to like this one, but I really did. I must say that it was the most blood that I have ever seen in any movie. I laughed through much of it and the film work was beautiful. I give it 4 1/2 out of 5 stars.;)

*HERE BE MILD SPOILERS*
Well I dragged myself to see Kill Bill. The initial high, I have to admit, was that I finally got to see the RotK trailer on the big-screen, and BY GOLLY it was flipping amazing stuff
Anyway, the film itself. I have to admit it was like nothing I'd ever seen before. I was under the impression it was a kind of homage to 70's chock-socky action. There are elements of that, but it's also a whole lot more (it would be futile of me to try and list references. Those of you well versed in film will appreciate them, those who are not, like myself to an extent, will be awed by the spectacle of it all).
Like Pulp Fiction and Reservoir Dogs, the plot of Kill Bill (revenge, revenge, and more revenge) is presented in a fragmented, non-linear fashion. However, further to how he has used this in his other work, QT plays around with how the segments themselves are presented. For example, one of the 'chapters' (the back-story of one of the characters childhood and ascension) is actually animated (and I have to say, the animation and the way it was used was truly amazing).
It's also a film that careens about wildy at an emotional level. Much of the violence and gore is classic chop-socky, or almost live action anime. Yet elsewhere it seem very realistic, and all the more brutally sadistic for it. At times the characters are more iconic than fleshed out, yet elsewhere the privations of some carry a genuine emotional impact. These extremes are often juxtaposed, and it was an effective technique I felt.
So, the action. The combat scenes are *amazingly* well done. Fantastic wire-work, gritty one-on-ones, fights with grace and poise, and fights without. Great unarmed choreography, stunning sword-play - as a fan of Hong Kong cinema, I was not dissappointed. Make no mistake though, whether it is played for laughs, is is hyper-real, the fighting is very blood-thirsty. Limbs fly, blood gouts from severed stumps. bones break, and when played for grit, and not satire, people *don't* just die at the first hit, but generally roll about the place, screaming as they die slowly from their wounds.
This sadistic streak doesn't just permeate the fights, but also the characters and the plot itself. Kill Bill is a film populated by some of the most unsympathetic characters you're ever likely to see, and a lot of the expostion that elaborates on The Bride's (Uma Thurman) reasons for her actions is truly shocking. But then, I guess it has to be. She kills without remorse, but we are supposed to root for her - therefore to ensure this support, what was done to her must far outweigh what she ends up doing to others (believe me, the people she is going after most definitely deserve to die for their actions :o )
I think the cast was uniformaly great, but I'll just wax lyrical about Uma Thurman for a while (and why not!). I can't say I'm familiar with her work, but in this she is *brilliant*. She really pulls off the fighting with aplomb, and makes it all looks very convincing. With her great costumes (often references to previous films) and sharp dialogue I reckon she'll have helped create one of those strong female characters that tend to stick around in the popular conscience. There is a lot of heart to her performance as well though. First some backstory: when The Bride was attacked by her assassin buddies, she was heavily pregnant. She was beaten, shot and left for dead (along with her fiance, their families, and the staff of the church the marriage was to happen in). The Bride, however, did not die. She lay in a coma for 4 years. When she wakens she remembers the attack, and what happened to her. Becoming frantic, in her confused state, she puts her hands on her belly - no bump. No kicking baby; no small heartbeat. Realising the attack cost her the life of her unborn child she becomes wrought with sadness. Uma's performance at that point in particular really was gut-wrenching, and she carries the scene herself (no music, no mush, no cuts - just her grief-stricken face on screen).
So, all in all I rate this film very highly. Indeed, I intend to see it again - and for me (not much of a cinema goer), that is high compliment indeed.
*edited to correct typos I'd somehow missed on repeated rounds of proof-reading*

Great review, agree with you entirly Daeron!
I went into this with just as much anticipation as TTT (and yeah, I managed to get in, easy stuff ;) ).
Having already owned the soundtrack, I knew the music rocked but I love the way it was used in the actual film. Timing was everything.
Favourite part was probably The Bride's fight with Go Go! That ball and chain is used so well.
