Not a problem....gotcha covered! :p

And LT was interesting as well as UT, the only prob I had was that I was always bouncing back to the Sil to try and pick up the pieces! hehe

I had no problems whatsoever with Lost Tales I. I love stories of the Valar and how Arda was made. But I do think that many people might not be able to finish it. It is a bit difficult.

.. ah before I put the rest of this in.. if you have not read the Sil or Lost tales.. there are
S
P
O
I
L
E
R
S
HERE!!!

does appear in the Lost tales and the Sil....
At Gondolin he dies defeating a balrog, to allow some of the Gondothlim, to escape the sack of the city (First Age)
...He may be one of very few characters allowed to live again, as an Elf called Glorfindel appears both in LOTR as a member of Elrond's court at Rivendell (Third Age) and also earlier at the side of one of Aragorn's ancestors (Earnur) when the Witch King was defeated at the Battle of Fornost.(Second Age).
As Elves do not take the names of kin who have passed, believing them to be in the keeping of Namo in Mandos where lie the Halls of The Dead... it is thought that Glorfindel was allowed to return to Arda, owing to his love for the land and his great sacrifice for his people

I'm reading the Lost tales right now, but i think I should start with the Sil because there is a lot of stuff I have no clue about. I do enjoy the LT, I love all the references made and all the background and redundancy. LOL

I, too, think that it is better to read the Sil first. The Lost Tales is a more detailed (and slightly different) version of the tales in the Sil. I really enjoyed reading the Lost Tales because it made the characters that I knew from the Sil really come to life.

I started the Lost Tales Book 1 but I stopped to re-read LOTR. Now I am just beginning again. Yippie! I look forward to more details.

that's why i thought it was boring. i kept thinking, "i already read this."
Me to at one point - but that was because I actually had - I placed my bookmark about 50 pages before where I was reading, and I didn't notice, so I read about 30 pages anew. Really annoying, especially since it's so hard to read. But I'm almost done with part one now, and last week I bought part two. But that's after I've read Letters, and probably Humphrey Carpenter's biography as well...
