As we all know, the beginning of ROTK could have many beginnings. One being Merry and Pippin at Orthanc, Frodo and Sam Climbing Cirith Ungol, or Gandalf, Aragorn, Legolas and Gimil "recooperating" after Helms Deep. But maybe it would be the transfiguration of Smeagol to Gollum, Here's where you can find some screen shots Let me know what you thinkHere's where you can find some screen shots (http://www.warofthering.net/photos/rotkgollum/) You probably have already scene these. :ring:

I think that it will be a flash back of TT, probably Gandalf saying "The battle for Middle Earth is about to begin," or something like that.

Thats a good question.. I know how the movie ends... Phillipha Boyens revealed it in the Audio commentary in FOTR.. I wont tell it its to big a spoiler... but if you want to know PM me then I will tell you..
I have to say.. Im a bit sad that I found out I did'nt want to know until I sat in the Cinema.

I think that it will begin with some kind of huge action sequence. FOTR had the Last Alliance and TTT had the Balrog. I think ROTK will begin in the same manner. I just can't think of what it could be.

SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER

I dont think you have read the books or read them for a long time because having Frodo and Sam climbing Cirith Ungol as a begining is way off. That wouldnt be like until 2hours into the movie.

I have read the books first of all, and i know it would be really long, but it is in the movie already, you can even see it in the trailer, they wouldnt climb the whole thing and they wouldnt climb it in real time either,

I hope we see Gollum transformed as well! I think we are going to see Smeagol and Deagol in a flashback scene.

It's likely that they'll have a flash back like before just to remind people what happened, or they may even have a 'flash forward' of something that happens later in the film to add suspence in the climax

At this point I don't care how it starts as long as it starts...I hate the waiting...its killing me....

At this point, I'm sorta just trying to survive the weeks till it comes out, if you know what I mean. But, Dedodido had a point there about maybe a flashback before the reforging that we've all heard was the beginning. It seems like they would continue the whole flashback thing they've been doing -- but then maybe not. We'll just have to wait......... *dying gasp*

I don't think it should be a flashback too much like the way they started TTT. It would be too similar. I can't wait to see how they're going to do the talk with Saruman! not to mention the Palantir.

After hearing the clip of track 1, I'm pretty sure that the movie is going to begin with Deagol and Smeagol as hobbits and the discovery of the ring. As for the palantir, I'm sure the writers will find a very logical way to fit it into the plot line.

Who cares how it starts now. From the trailers and the rumors, it's near impossible to predict anything any more. The movie will just be bits and pieces and references and misplaced dialog, all collaged together - just like the last two. No Halberad and Co., no Sauruman or Grima, no Ghan Buri Ghan, no Imrahil, no Bergil, Probably no ships from Harad, no Houses of Healing, probably no Butteries, Maybe they will even leave out the palantir of Orthanc altogether and focus on the Stone of Minas Anor instead. That would fit their logic of streamlining the details.
(Gee -- was that me? I'm starting to sound bitter now, instead of just angry. I suppose it will be a fun movie, just like the other two. I just can't see bothering to have any kind of expectations.)

If you expect too much, you are bound to be disappointed. I have high expectations, only with reguard to a high quality movie, not how closly related it is to the book.

I have been clinging on to the hope that the film will begin with the line "Well, I'm back," so that I can be out of there and get back down to the pub as quickly as possible. I have a feeling that I'll be disappointed in that respect...
As for the ending, I rather think that they should conclude with a scene summing up what the whole trilm has been about: a big close-up of Peter Jackson's, Bob Shaye's, and Mark Ordesky's wallets. (I know I've forgotten a few...)

That is a really cruel comment. Why are you blaming Jackson and his team for making good movies that were popular enough to gross so much money. Thinking that Jackson did this for financial gain is a very cynical point of view. I'm sure he could have found a much better way to make money for himself instead of devoting his life to these movies for the past five to six years. If you don't like the movies, just say so. Don't put down a man who really cares about he does.

Richard and Miruvor: What's with the anger? These are the best movies ever made and Peter Jackson poured his heart and soul into making this movie. (plus, over 5 years of his life). I think we should be extremely grateful and not make rude comments to these men and women that have worked so hard. These movies are just that, movies. They are not visual representations of the book, they are movies based on the book.

"If you don't like the movies, just say so."
On the contrary, I think that there is much to admire in them. And, being ever inclined to give people the benefit of the doubt, I do not believe that increasing his bank-balance is Jackson's primary motive in making the film, even when suspicions are raised by his continual tendency to put cheap thrills very near the top of his list of priorities in the movie. So perhaps we'll leave Jackson's wallet out of the money shot. But as for the executives I mentioned, well, making piles of cash is their (and, ultimately, the film's) raison d'être...
Snakes and adders! I'm dreadfully sorry if I appeared angry, kylesmile! I am, in fact, quite jolly this evening, not least because I expect to have the opportunity - early tomorrow morning - of adding to my DVD collection the extended edition of The Two Towers which is indeed, as you said, one of the best films ever made. Cheap thrills aside.

Didn't I say I had already downgraded my feelings from 'Angry' to 'Bitter'?
And you should be glad to know that since my last post they have again been downgraded to --
'Occasional Twitches of Mild Indignation'.
:p
Didn't you like my smilie sequence of Gollum following the ring into the fire? I do still have a lighter side.

According to Newsweek ROTK will begin with Smeagol's transformation into Gollum.
Faramir
November 27th,2003, 06:26 PM
Here's my prediction:
You know how TTT started with a scene that we've already seen before and then shifted to something new (the Balrog scene where Gandalf fights him and falls, then instead of following the Fellowship out, we follow Gandalf down)
well, i think ROTK may do the same thing. Show the shot of the ring at the bottom of the river and the hand coming down and grasping it (like in the Prologue of FOTR) and this time we see Deagol and Smeagol in the boat with the new found ring. Probably won't happen, but felt like saying it in case it does.

I'm inclined to go with the Newsweek account since it's based on a more recent interview with PJ - Deagol and Smeagol at the opening. Then some kind of action sequence in the first few minutes.
I totally agree with Radagast's comment on the ending and would be amazed if it didn't happen that way. Also, there is the Into The West song, which I think will come after the last dialogue, cover the last scene (use your imagination) and go into the credits.

Yes I saw the movie the 9 (press screening)
The opening scene is a flashback with Gollum/Smeagol and the river side.... its really great!!!..
Boromir III
December 14th,2003, 09:04 PM
But it's not Christopher Lee. ;)
I'm sure the opening scene is great anyway.

SPOILER
I can also confirm the beginning, it will begin with Sméagol and Déagol sitting in a boat and fishing.
Ensuing this will be the fight between Sméagol and Déagol where Sméagol murders his friend, thus referencing to the line spoken by Gollum in tTT where he accuses himself of murder.
After this we will be treated to the complete transformation of Sméagol into Gollum.
MEGASPOILER!
Concering the end of Return of the King, there will not be any form of Galadriel voice-over. Although Frodo does have one small, very small, voice-over at the end.
The song "Into the West" will be credit music ONLY. Nothing more, "The Grey Havens" will be right before ITW.
Not so big of a SPOILER
It just felt as if this was the SHORTEST THREE AND A HALF HOUR MOVIE EVER! This really proves that if someone would make movies taking almost everything from LotR it would be sooooo very long.
Well, that covers most of it ;) cant wait until everyone has seen the movie!
