You'd have to be a subscriber of WotR (see http://www.warofthering.net/subscri...scription.shtml (http://) for details), a staff member of WotR, nominated for member of the month, or post 20000 posts in order to have a custom avatar
I found this in answer to someone else who had the same question
(sometimes you can just use the search engine with a keyword, it works really well. But then, this answer was found in a thread named "avator" lol)

As Amithrellas said, the choice of avatars available to members increases the more that you post.. however there is still a limited number. If you subscribe to the site, or become a member of staff, you are allowed to have a custom avatar, as well as (for subscribers) a ring symbol

where can I get a custom avatar if that doesn't sound to dense (I've got a cold - forgive me) Cos I just subscribed (birthday present, very nice!) and want my own avatar but don't know how to create one or drag one up from the abyss (maybe not)

There are wide variety of Avatars at Cadfael's Avatar's (http://www.e-cadfael.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/Avatars.htm) , all different sizes. That's where I got my Avatar from. There is a range there to suit about every taste. Go and have a look. :grin:
I warn you though, you look through those and you'll find it difficult to choose just one ;)

Hello Túrinqualië,

Well, as crazy as it may sound, in a forum environment there are only so many ways that one can compensate a user for subscribing or reqard them for things like being part of staff, or recieving the Member of the Month award.

Hope this makes us seem a little less crazy.

want to put it that bluntly, then yes you are correct. Please read Terry's link from last post and the rest of the posts in this thread, and you might get a greater understanding of the way that we set this up.

Yes there is, but you'll have to reach 20,000 posts to get it...;) So don't worry about it so much, you'll get there eventually...;)
