Just wondering what your all time favourite film would be.
Mine would be ummm let me see... The Fellowship of the Ring  followed by Aliens. That rocks.

I thought a lot about this, but the honest truth is I've never enjoyed a movie as much as I enjoy Fotr. :)

I agree with Nessa. I've seen movies that i've liked a lot and have watched more than once and still am not bored to see it again. Although, i've never really been so into a movie that i would have posters and am always talking about it, etc.

Then the FotR came out. I hadn't read any of Tolkien's books, and wasn't quite sure if i would like the movie, but saw it anyway. I was immediately hooked and had to go read The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings.

I now have posters of the movie in my room, pictures, and the movie and am going to get the extended version when it comes out. Now if that's not enough... this is the first time ever that i've joined any online forums - and i would never join one about a movie or a book thinking that's "strange" (no offense) - uh oh! i guess i'm a Tolkien Freak now!!! :elfeek: roflmao
(i even watced the movie 2 nights in a row - my dad said he's thinking of sending me to the doctors! lol)

August 9th,2002, 01:40 AM
Two nights in a row? Thats nothing, Hobbitfriend. I watch my copy in a continuous cycle.... that is when I'm not reading the books or hanging around here.... lol

I mean.... I've probably seen better movies... ones that were done better etc., but I have never taken so much joy in a movie as in this one, flaws and all. :)

FOTR will and most likely will always be my favorite movie of all time. I try not torture myself thinking about it when I can't watch it, but I cant stop. *sighs and looks off into the distance thinking about FOTR*

hehe they were playing FOTR at a store i went to, and my parents couldnt tear me away from it. My blank smiles at the screen attracted a crowd.... and soon 6 people were all around the TV watching. My sister laughed at me lol lol:blush:

TheRingBearer
August 9th,2002, 05:47 PM
Knowing how amazing FOTR was you can only wonder at how down right Brilliant the others should be. I've got a feeling that this time 2004 all three will be in the top three spots of every fan's favourite film list. :) :) :)

Hmmmm. Favourite movie of all time. Difficult to pick just one. Of course, of course, LOTR is up there, that's a given. But besides LOTR, I guess I have a few. Hard to pick just one.

E.T. (Spielburg = genius)
The Godfather (beautiful and tragic)
To Kill A Mockingbird (w/out a doubt, one best best movies ever made!)
It's a Wonderful Life (The ending makes up for the talking planets
 )
Casablanca (Most romantic love story ever. Period.)

I have so many favorite films! It's certainly very difficult to choose only one!

Well, besides FOTR, :) my favorite film would have to be Kenneth Branagh's 1996 version of Hamlet.

In my opinion, the single most best William Shakespeare adaptation ever!!!

Although FOTR is amazing i would have to say that Die Hard is one of my favourite films of all time.

TheRingBearer
August 10th,2002, 04:34 PM
I agree. Die Hard is one of the best action flicks ever.
Other favourites of mine include The Usual Suspects, The Godfather and The Empire Strikes back!!

August 10th,2002, 08:54 PM
Godfather II (love the history flashbacks)
Gone With the Wind (great on a rainy winter day)
Top Gun (NOT for Tom Cruise....love all the flying scenes...and Val Kilmer...hehehehe)
Braveheart (FREEDOM!!!)
Ever After (and most of Drew Barrymore's other movies)
Buck Privates (an old Abbott and Costello movie with some great big band/dance scenes...and one of the "Who's on First" sketches...classic comedy!!)
Mrs. Doubtfire (no explanation needed)
Point Break (yeah, well....just 'cause)....

Of course there are tons of others....but these are always in heavy rotation, and if one of them shows up on cable, I have a hard time changing the channel.....OH...and Legend....and....geez....why did I ever START this?

Sindarin
August 11th,2002, 07:45 AM
"Immortal Beloved" is an extremely wonderful film.

I also enjoy alot of Steven Spielberg movies. "Empire of the Sun," "Schindler's List," and "Saving Private Ryan" to name a few.

Coppola's "Apocalypse Now" is another favorite. The director's cut is excellent.

Not to mention "The Godfather" 1 & 2.

Okay I'm in.....

Of course being a Tolkien FREAK!! I now have a new favourites....FOTR...and all TTT and ROTK...when they come out! lol
And off course they are on the tippy-top of the list!
But I do have several that are on top of the list as well:

Shawshank Redemption (watched it last night)
Close Encounters (I wanna go!!)
Hellraiser (One of Clive's Best)
Nightbreed (another great Clive)
Dances with Wolves (worth it for the buffalo scene alone!)
The Green Mile (OUTSTANDING!)
Blade Runner and Braveheart to round out the list that could go on and on!! hehehe

But I suppose that covers my Top-Ten list..

Had to do ten since I couldn't narrow it down to just one:p

i'm more into Comedy so i'd say....

Happy Gilmore, lead character was hilarious
Theres something about Mary, scary with all the stalker men but funny all the same
The Mask, i loved it when it first came out but it seems a bit blah now.
and Dogma, i thought it was fantastic.

TheRingBearer
August 11th,2002, 10:41 PM
Yeah I love The Mask but one of my new favourite comedies has to be Austin Powers in Goldmember. That is HILARIOUS lol roflmao lol

Nessa
August 11th,2002, 11:32 PM
Comedies! I prefer them low-brow and stupid, thank you. ;) Anything with Adam Sandler, Jim Carrey, or Jay and Silent Bob makes it funny, in my opinion. Dogma is brilliant, watched it about an hour ago.

Well picking only one Film a my All-Time favorite is easy.

The Seven Samuri.

It is a truly amazing film. The Hollywood copy The Magnifcent Seven is such a poor copy that I am serprised they had the gall to release it let alone make sequals.

Dark City was a great film.
