Isn't it unfair?
An actor can get all dressed up in makeup and wigs, he or she can have stunt performers performing in their stead, can even employ various special effects to aid them, and they're allowed a nomination for Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role while Andy Serkis' Gollum in Lord of the Rings is not?
Welcome to the 21st Century, Academy, where computer animation and photoshop are the new paint and powder!

I agree with you. I mean Andy/Gollum even won an MTV movie award, so why can't he be nominated to the Oscar. I think his performance as Gollum was great!!!

I think it really pains Andy how he doesn't get given much credit for the absolutely OUTSTANDING performance as an actor which he gave to the role of gollum. I mean....people always bang on about the amazing digital effects etc. of the gollum scenes, which i agree are brilliant, but people dont seem to remember that the heart and soul of the gollum we see on our screens is andy serkis and that if gollum is indeed such a fabulous character then it is andy serkis which should be recieveing an award. :gollum: :p

I think the reason that Gollum isn't getting any nominations is probably because of his nasty acceptance speech at the MTV movie awards...I mean dropping the F-bomb repeatedly is okay on MTV, but can you imagine the Academy's faces when Gollum spurts out "You F***ing HACKS!" Perhaps isf Serkis can learn to control that potty mouth in public, he'd have a better shot at an Oscar nod, ya know? lol

I hope they will give every little bit of this trilogie an oscar, every single 'department' that was involved in making the trilogie should have one.
