View Full Version : Any Novelists?
Sindarin

After spending alot of time at the Fan Fiction forum, I was just wondering if anyone at War of the Ring is a storywritter full/part time.
If so, what do you write about?
For over one year now, I've been working on my first novel, which I intend to make into a trilogy written in the respected Tolkien style of storytelling.
I don't know at this point when I'll finish, or if I'll even get published.
At any rate, I hope I do.

I used to write my own stories, based on a Middle-earth like fictional world, but it's been months since I wrote anything. I still have many plots and ideas in my mind, but I can't seem to find the time to put them down.

I thought the summer would bring extra time for this...but i was so wrong. I've been continuing with my archery and it's taking up a lot of the day. :archer: I love it though so... :p
Sindarin! How cool! A novel!? I always knew you had a talent, your writing is beautiful. :loveyou:

I've written a few Spec Scripts. Haven't tried to get them seen, or anything. I know they're complete ****. It is SO hard writing film! Learning the format alone makes you want to chuck the whole thing in the rubbish bin.
Since then, I have been writing down every idea I have. I'm currently working on two novels. I'm a gemini, so I have to be working on multiple projects at once. When they are complete, I am planning on attempting to get them published. Bold, and ambitious of me, I know; but when you want something in this world, you gotta just go out there and get it, 'cause it's not going to come to you. Am I right?

I too write Middle Earth related stories. Star Wars also.

I'm writing a silly Middle Earth story right now. I'm not posting it on this site, 'cause it's so long, but I'm proud of it. It's hell to write after such a master, though. You certainly can learn a lot from him, though.notworthy

It's just difficult to read with the gold lettering, and the dark background. I just submitted chapter 1 the other day, but when it gets posted, I'll let you know. There's already some really good stories up. Check it out.

The one called 'Son of the Sindarin' is quite good.

Haha. I'm a gemini too, and I always find myself having a hard time to decide what storyline I'll follow. I already have some 4 or 5 basic plots in my mind, but never seem to decide which is is the best to actually write and develop.

Try developing them all in point form. That way, you'll decided which one excites you the most, has the best character angles, pace, twists, etc. just write a brief story outline from beginning to end (or the reverse, in some cases), and not only will you use those when you go to write, you will have a clearly laid out plot for yourself.
I'm not the kind of person who can just sit down, and write and not know where it's going. For me, to produce the best possible story, I try to examine all angles. It's a good idea to be skeptical, and not just write down the first thing that pops into your head. Hey, you can always change it later. :)
