Favourite LOTR theme 1

I have had to split this up into more than one thread.
There are many different music themes in the movies. By themes I mean tunes which occur in accordance to certain characters or places.

Fellowship: This is most prominent at the beginning of 'The Bridge of Khazad Dum'. Basically, it is played to reflect the Fellowship's journey.

Hobbiton: This is played in, well, Hobbiton. The track it is in is 'Concerning Hobbits'. There are variations of it when Sam makes his speech.

Rohan: This is played in the track, 'the King of the Golden Hall' (I think).

Mordor: One of my favourite themes, this can be heard during our first glimpse of Barad 'dur, and at the Black Gate.

You can vote for more than one, but don't vote for more than two.

Gondor: This noble theme has only been played a little. I think it is at the Argonath.

There will be another thread with other themes.

I voted Rohan cause it is so proud and noble. They're all great though. The Hobbiton theme is very countryish lol the fellowship is really couragous and the Mordor theme is very clearly evil and forboding.

I voted for the "Fellowship" theme. I nearly fell out of my seat in the theatre when I heard the strains of this theme at the beginning of TTT (when we see the three hunters again). I so love that they chose to put it back into the beginning of TT. It's so exciting and adventurous!

Mordor for me, I love how it plays In TT when we see a full Barad-Dur.

The music from Rohan is so powerfully emotional; and can be played with different styles and instruments, making it sound like a different song with each different insturmental theme.

I vote Fellowship theme - it's just so dramatic! Can't get enough of it. It also reminds me of Boromir mecry

I love the theme of Rohan, because it is so perfect for a strong nation that has slowly decayed. It's tune is sweet and sorrowful reminisent of the days past.

Right on Celebrian. "Fellowship theme" rules! My brother has football practice today, when he goes, I'm going to put the Rohan theme on very loud, so listen out for it lol I think sometimes, it has to be played loud to be appreciated.

I know what you mean, shieldmaiden. You know music is excellent when you can't describe it in words. The music simply speaks for itself. All of the LOTR soundtrack is like that for me, but especially the fellowship theme. It is sad, mournful, noble..... the list goes on and on........

So many great songs to choose from...I voted for The Fellowship - the songs are inspiring and moving and make you "feel" throughout the movie - Howard Shore wanted to accomplish this in all his themes! Did a great job, by the way...some to bring you to tears mecry

Here's a strange thing, though...
I was listening to my TTT soundtrack yesterday (very loudly) lol and the Fellowship Theme came on. But it was weird, that time, it sounded kind of...empty ...I think that the Fellowship theme, for me, symbolises all nine of the Fellowship, rather than just three of them. It just doesn't seem the same once you know that not all of them remain...
Just to be sure, I played the FOTR soundtrack and the Fellowship theme sounded just as good as ever...could it have something to do with Boromir? ;) lol

Oh my god...I cry everytime that music comes on (Track 16 -) I know the tracks by heart from Track 8 on...I still cry in the movie when I see him defending Merry and Pippin and still, amazing to me to this day, with his injuries, fighting to the death.

The Lord of the Rings: Fellowship is a better soundtrack to me, overall now...than The Two Towers. I only like 3 or 4 songs total off the Two Towers soundtrack.

Sorry, I made a mistake..so apparently, I don't know them by heart...but I was close. It's track 17 - the Breaking of the Fellowship. I stand corrected.

My favorites off of The Two Towers are: Evenstar, The Leave Taking, andFaarewell to Lorein. I cannot listen to Gollum's song...sorry. Very irritating...going to get some feedback on that one, probably! Just can't wait to hear the new music though and what is in store for us with The Return of the King!

I know you were kidding when you said that, but I think there's some truth to what you said. The first time the fellowsip theme really is established is when all of the Nine Walkers are shown passing over the mountain, and as the movie is drawing to a close, the theme is played in a more mournful way, making me think of those lost and that things are not the same without them... anyway, yes, totally love the fellowship theme! :thumbs:

There is some truth to it, yes. ;) The mournful version of the Fellowship theme in "The Breaking of the Fellowship" is so sad, it makes me want to cry every time :( because I know that the Fellowship will never be complete again... mecry

I particularly find the "mournful" version of the Fellowship Theme at the end of The Breaking of the Fellowship. I love the way, after Gandalf falls, the Fellowship theme changes to a more ominous tone, never the grand theme it was before, and after Bori dies mecry it is but a tiny echo of its former brilliance... so moving...

the whole thing is so good that I just listen to FOTR followed by TTT but the track that haunts me is the Rohan theme. It brings tears to my eyes every single time I hear it and I listen to it a LOT. :grin:
