I like a bit of everything really. I could be listening to Linkin Park and the Offspring one minute then Daft Punk or catchy pop tunes the next.
How bout you guys?

Well, I'm more of a person who has favorite songs, but not favorite artists.... see, I like a few of Linkin Park, Michelle Branch etc. songs... but not all of them. And I like Kissed by a Rose by Seal.... but i personally don't like any of Seal's other songs.... yes, I know its strange - but its me!

I've been listening to alot of underground dj Paul Okenfold lately. There's something about that pulse driven techno I just enjoy listening too.

I also listen to alot of Moby, as well as the Sneaker Pimps.

For me, the greatest band of all time is The Dave Matthews Band! Each member is an amazing musician in their own right, and that collaboration and mixture of such talent makes something really incredible.

But I'm a huge music fan in general. I like just about everything as long as the artist writes or composes his own music and lyrics. Right now I'm listening to some Godspeed You Black Emperor, Tim Reynolds, Apex Twins, and a little Willie Nelson.

I listen to most types of music!

Recently it's been mostly The Ark, The Mo (both Swedish bands), Travis, Dido, musicals, LOTR soundtrack, other movie soundtracks.. and the radio. Sometimes I like to listen to Westlife and the Backstreet Boys. Sometimes I like to listen to Metallica. I also like Linkin Park, The Corrs, and just about everything else. It depends on my mood and the season of the year. :)

I even like "Bilbo's ballad"!! :elfeek:

I listen to just about anything, too. With the exception of most country music and rap. I really can't stand country music. It sets my teeth on edge.

Oh, I love this question. Since music is the probably the biggest part of my life, it made me light up when I saw this , and even more so when I saw some of your responses. No one mentioned The Beatles, who are my personal favorite (especially John Lennon- with them and seperate). Then, Led Zeppelin. You cannot beat 'Ramble On' -as we are all fans of LotR, I'm sure many of us know this song because of it's content; this song got me into Led Zeppelin- don't you just love how LotR introduces you to so many new things? (lol). Then, as I have seen on here previously, Dave Matthews Band. Hello, Dave is amazing (and gorgeous), and frankly, I would marry Boyd because he is so talented. (Boyd Tinsley and Billy Boyd....coincedence? I think not.) Finally, on a completly different note, I love love love Linda Eder, though not a lot of people have heard of her- she's a fabulous talent. Of course, there are many more artists I adore, but that would be my personal top four. (Ooh, that rhymes!)

I would say I'm an eclectic listener. I like music from the Legends of the Fall Soundtrack, which is completely instrumental. All the way to Drounding Pool & Rod Zombie. When I'm sitting at the Computer I have my Walkman on, and I skip around the stations whenever I get the urge to hear somthing different.

i think you need diversity in your music taste. I mean I love Nirvana, but if i was depressed i wouldnt stick a Nirvana album on, it would be a bit too much. Something like Daft Punk is better then. And then if I'm in a good mood i wanna listen to my fave tracks. Or if i want fantastic guitar riffs i stick some Muse on. etc

-The Beatles (esp. their earlier ones)
-Paul McCartney
-Alan Parsons (I'm recently in on this stuff)
-Pink Floyds

i am obsessed with coldplay's new album: 'rush of the blood to the head'. i'm a HUGE fan of trance but not the cheesy chart stuff - bleeeugh!

i love paul van dyk's music and his 'politics of dancing' album is quite simply stunning. tiesto is pretty good too, although his latest stuff is verging on the cheesy line. i also enjoy listening to dido, garbage, sarah mclachlan and lotr soundtracks.

Bonos-Girl

Has anybody here heard of Nickel Creek? They're so cool! They are also LOTR fans, which makes them twice as cool! On their first CD, (they have two out now and their latest one just won a Grammy) they have an instrumental entitled, "In the House of Tom Bombadil". One of the band members also has a solo CD out entitled, "Not All Who Wander Are Lost", and on that actual CD their is a track named, "Riddles in the Dark". I thought it was so cool that they named so many things after LOTR. Very cool! Anyway, I like them, Alison Krauss, James Taylor, Celine Dion, and I'm a big fan of movie soudtracks. I also love classical music, especially Handel and Bach. Anyway, that's what I like! :)

Do you get into the rest of the 'The' bands too? I've got some stuff by like, The Strokes and the Walkmen. Pretty not bad!

But I gotta go with Incubus! Their music is philosophical and metaphorical but retains its edge. It's alternative/metal and actually musical at the same time. (By musical I mean more than just guitar slamming and deep throated screaming. I like metal too, but I'm all the more impressed with a hard song that you can pick a melody out of.) I went and saw them in concert not too long ago and was positively amazed. Brandon Boyd has the most enchanting voice- strange to hear that classification in the genre, but true none-the-less.

I think that some of the best tunes you'll ever hear come from those sorta unknown bands. The music (as dumb as this sounds) is less corrupt. I can't think of a better word for it...not too long ago I got into this band from Texas called Greenwheel. I saw them in concert with, I think, Sevendust and they just blew me away. I got their CD for $6 at a Target and havce the entire thing memorized. Nothin like that garage band sound!

Right now, I'm into the Strokes. Their lead singer is just so cool. He doesn't seem to care about anything...

They Might Be Giants

EEEEK! I love TMBG!! They're my second favorite bad, my first being Pearl Jam. And any respectable daughter of people that grew up in the 70's/LOTR fan has to be a Led Zep fan. I am no exception ;)

WAHOO!! ANOTHER TMBG FAN! I LOVE YOU! No one else has ever heard of them!

Have you ever heard of the Aquabats (http://www.theaquabats.com)? They're really similar to TMBG, except better in my humble opinion. If you're gonna listen to any of their songs, listen to Pool Party or Pizza Day or Captain Hampton and the Midget Pirates.

MAN, they ROCK! They think they're superheroes.

hehe, it is nice to find another TMBG fan, isn't it? I saw them two years ago with my two best friends in a 500-person ballroom. We were about three yards away from them....oh it was sa-weet.

I've never heard of the Aquabats, but they look like they're a ball :) I'll have to check 'em out!

The Aquabats are so cool!!! I love the drummer

Telchar the Smith
February 2nd,2004, 04:05 PM
Do you mean Ricky Fitness? He's so rad!

A kinda funny story, in 1995 the drummer for the Aquabats was named Baron Von Tito (Travis Parker was his real name) and in the middle of the 1995 Warped Tour Blink182's drummer quit on them so they convinced Baron(Travis) to quit the 'bats and join their band instead. That is why I have a mad loathing for Blink 182. They stole Baron.

BOTH I love them both to think about it!!! :) I like Travis in Blink-182 also though.

Aragorn
February 13th,2004, 08:23 PM
I think U2 have now been around long enough and have been relevent long enough to be included in the very short list of best rock and roll bands ever. Beatles, Stones, U2, Zepplin...throw in a couple others if you wish, but U2 belongs in that group.

Amithrellas
February 13th,2004, 11:15 PM
I agree.

And then there's a band like Blind Faith, who were together for a moment, but the music is still incredible. Can't Find My Way Home....

Very cool Keverzwijn! Thanks for the link. I like them. :)

I have an ecclectic taste in music. I like everything from Bach and Beethoven to Metallica, Korn, Shakira, Crystal Method, Lasgo, Moby, Offspring, Audio Slave... my only exception would be Country Western. I don't like it very much. lol
