Eh, they took it down apparently. Found this (http://w1.455.telia.com/~u45500842/Bilder/townsend.jpg) once, which is definitely creepy enough to put me off.

Ouch! The new pic is even scarier than the previous one... Must be too used to seeing Viggo as Aragorn lol

I've seen that pic too, he was just too young to fit the part I think, after all Aragorn has spent years wandering the wild and sleeping in ditches, he's supposed to look the way Viggo made him look.:aragorn:
Anyway, we're all so used to the fact that Viggo IS Aragorn, no one else would look right in the part!

I agree, to young, Viggo was perfect!

Watching the Globes last nite, everytime they showed Stuart Townsend, I thought how wrong he was for Aragorn. Way too young, and not nearly rugged enough for our Ranger.
Adunauriel
January 26th,2004, 09:37 PM
Nope not nearly rugged enough.. Altho he did make a fine Lestat...;)

January 27th,2004, 04:01 AM
I agree!! omgsh if he was aragorn goodness... lol... it wouldnt be good... Viggo is a perfect fit! and so was everyone else... but i like Cate Blanchett but i dont think (dont get mad) she was fair enough for it... you know what i mean?.... Liv Tyler also... but this is off topic but yea.... everyone else was good... heehee... but anywho.... Viggo is PERFECT!! (like ORlando bloom as Legolas :))

Adunauriel said earlier that he was fired... does anyone know why? was it because they knew that Viggo was destined to play aragorn lol ?
Adunauriel
January 30th,2004, 12:44 AM
Well it is said that Peter eventually felt that Stuart was too young for the role.. So the day before he was supposed to start filming they fired him.. That's why there was such a rush to hire Viggo..;)
Tar-Ancalimë
January 30th,2004, 10:33 PM
He left because of "compatibility differences" or some such junk.
Adunauriel
January 30th,2004, 11:56 PM
Yea that was the official reason...;)
Laurelin
February 6th,2004, 12:19 AM
Its just as well. Stuart looked like a vampire anyway. Viggo looks like a Ranger/King. ;)
Adunauriel
February 6th,2004, 12:35 AM
Yes Viggo Definately fit the Ranger/King part much better...;)
And Stuart made a deliciouse looking Vampire...;)

I might draw a bit of flak because of my next statement, but here it is anyway:
I think Stuart Townsend would make a good Prince (a young one)... but not a King... yet.
Laurelin
February 6th,2004, 11:20 PM
Yeah... I could see him in that role. I dunno. Stuart just seems to "dark" to be Aragorn IMHO. *shrugs shoulders*
Adunauriel
February 6th,2004, 11:49 PM
Yea he would have been good as a younger Aragorn.. But sadly there was no need of that for the movies...;)

I shudder to think of what LotR would be like without Viggo...uggh.
Viggo is the ultimate best person for the role! No one could do it better.

Stuart would have made a beautiful Imrahil. I'm pretty sure he (Imrahil) is supposed to be older, and, well ... he wasn't in the movie anyway. But if he had been, Stuart would have looked smashing there (ofc just my opinion) ...

The League of Xtraordinary gents was really wierd. But i loved Stuart in it! i agree he wouldn't really have made the part of Aragorn because he's too young, his face is too perfect, and he's not rugged enough, which is why i reckon he would've made an absolutely fantastic elf. What do you think? In fact, i think i might just draw another pic of him as one... gotta run! paper calls!!! :shhh:

He might have made a good elf, but there's no way I would have watched if he had a major part! It wouldn't have worked at all, since he's so extremely popular. Did you notice that most of the actors from LotR except maybe Cate Blanchette, Ian MaKellan (totally spelled that wrong) Liv Tyler weren't half as popular as they are now that LotR has been released?! Imagine if someone like Brad Pitt had played Aragorn. Or Tom Cruise. It would have ruined the entire movie!

I remember reading that PJ deliberately stayed away from "big name" stars, so as to avoid that very issue- seeing 'Brad Pitt' instead of 'Aragorn'. Just a little touch to make it all the more real (if you can call anything in a fantasy genre 'real' )

Yurrgh! Brad Pitt or Tom Cruise as Aragorn. Either of them in any leading role would have ruined it! Not that they aren't wonderful, but they just wouldn't work in LotR.
I saw some pics of Stuart, and I think he may have been ok in a very minor role, like an elf in the background, or something. But by the look of things, this movie wasn't exactly the kind of thing he's used to. He just doesn't seem to fit.... a little too creepy, or modern, or something

would have set the film up in flames!!! lol
No, I agree, Stuart is too popular. But even so, he'd still look good as an elf! Don't you think?
