I posted a photo of a new figure from Applause, on the main page. TORN found it. Personally I hope it is not what the Ents will look like.

A bit too goony for me. Not very organic.

What do you think?

I can't believe what they made it look like! It looks like a haunted tree come to life... What is up with the hands. I do not like it at all. *ahem* Where is its darn face?

I really hope they make it look more like the drawings I have seen.

But to be fair it will probably (hopefully) look better in the film.... with proper lighting, animation, etc.

I really hope that's not what the Ents are going to look like! but i don't think they will... PJ is so set on making everything seem so real, that i don't think he's going to mess up Treebeard. Anyway, i only caught a short glimpse in the Trailer of Treebeard's eyes, but from what i could see... i thought it looked pretty good - made me look forward to see how the Ents are really going to look. :)

Well it looks very toyish in that lighting, although I suspect it will be the Fangorn they use in the movie. I noted the toy Merry and Pippin figures upon it, so my guess is that that is an early peek at the mechandisers version. My hopes of it being better in the film however are not great. I guess if the right actor plays the voice it might make the image less "haunted". Oh well, as I said about the LotR animated version, "It's all we got, can't complain."

John Ryes-Davies (Gimli) is doing the voice of Treebeard. As long as he refrains from using the odd Gimli accent I think he should be good. :) I read something about the technical team trying to incorporate 'tree sounds' into the voice... creaking branches and blowing leaves and what not. Should be interesting.

As for the looks.... *sighs* it could definately be worse. I'm not sure if anyone is familiar with Bakshi :o :o :o Its not really fair of me to say its bad when I've never had a good image in my head. Its an extremely difficult character to create, and I'm sure Weta Digital has done and will do all they can.

I really wouldn't judge Treebeard by a crappy, badly made, badly lit and undetailed toy. My feelings are that they'll make him look really good in the movie once they finalise all the CG stuff.

I've seen Treebeard!! In the old TT preview you see Pippin holding onto a tree, he looks at it and eyes open revealing a face, he turns away then his eyes light up as he realises what he just saw.

Hasn't anyone else seen this, it was quite near the end I think of the full 4 minute version :huh:

Yes Ringbearer we have, but the thing is this is the first time we have seen his whole self. Personally I reckon that we might need to wait for the action figures to coe out. They are pretty accurate. But if he has big muppet hands I will be disappointed. I mean Weta do ok, but they do mess up too. I mean why was the balrog so big etc.

There are number of bits in FOTR when they let slip, particularly with painted backdrops, the beginning of the Moria scene and others. So I don't trust them completly. But here is hoping, was PJ not going on about creepy wild Ents. Now that would be something.

The ent pic IS scary though...reminds me of the trees in snow white... mecry That scared the hell outta me when i was small! :o

I think he looks amazing. I can't believe so many of you don't like him. He looks scary(which he should), he looks wise, and he looks like he could wreack havoc on Isengard. I'm impressed and thankful they avoided something like the atrocious one in Bashki's movie.

He does look like he could wreck Isengard...but the power of the ents is not in scary nmuscle building trees...it's from an inner strength...nature's strength. :cool:

People, it's the TOY version, of course it looks rather weird but it'll look way better in the movie

You can only form a rough idea of what Treebeard will look like with that picture and the glimpse you get in the TTT preview

We know its a toy Tieno, people have mentioned that with better lighting and the appropriate atmosphere it wouldn't be so bad. But the toy does have the rough form, and I happent to hold the opinion that it doesn't look too promising. All opinions here. :)

Yeah what is with that accent???? I mean it's not like that is JRD's actual accent!

I really dont like that pic at all but as a lot of ppl have sed it's only a model. I really hope WETA will make it look better than that. I thought all the other stuff they've done has been excellent.

Treebeard is waaaay tooooo important! He can put a car in the background, that's ok to me, but he'll definetely NOT mess up on Treebeard or the other Ents!!
This is very simple u know, PJ is very rich now, he has a wonderful life. So I don't think he'll ruin everything and risk his neck! Everyone has a very clear idea how many people will wait in line to kill him if he messed up on Ents!! :naughty:

I got an itty bitty glimpse of him in the trailer released with the theatrical version of the Lord of the Rings: fellowship of the ring. From that itty bitty glimpse, I'm not sure what to expect in the movie. I'm not even sure what I expected in reading the book.

Maybe the new trailers will have more detail...

i saw the pic a mmonth or 2 ago and i have been scarred for life...how can they even think of making treebeard look like that.....in the still he looks considerably better but you can't see that much of him.......
