Lord of the rings seems to be everywhre these days, now even a hobbits rule the musical scene. Norwegian Idol Kurt Nilsen has been elected as The Worldidol by almost every country. Woohoo! Revenge of the less fortunate in the looks-departement. In my opinion it's the way it should be, he has the best voice. What are your opinions?

PS, I also liked Peter Ofcourse, he's from my country!

Naturally I'm very pleased with this...but not only cuz he's from Norway! It just shows that you don't have to look like a Barbie-doll to be an idol...and that quality wins!

I was also VERY pleased to hear Peter stand up for himself against the stupid judges in the contest, and that he got such high marks just shows that a lot of listeners need some variation. Even if f.eks the american idol was a VERY good artist she's somehow a lot like other singinggirls out there!

GO KURT AND PETER!

oh and in case someones interested...go look here:

I'm not really into the whole American / World Idol thing, but I did happen to watch part of the last episode of World Idol when the results from each country was coming in.

First of all, I was very glad that Kelly Clarkson did not win..... her voice makes me want to tear off my ears and throw them to some ravanous dogs.

Second of all, I really enjoyed watching the look on Kelly Clarkson's face when she realized that she wasn't winning. She looked so p*ssed off.... it was hilarious, really.

Thirdly, I really wish I was able to hear Kurt Nilsen.... every result from the different countries had him as number one. I think it would have been refreshing to hear someone who can actually sing (coughKellyClarksoncough).

while i love the fact that the winner ws someone who isnt movie star pretty........the fact remains that no FEMALE who isnt pretty in a movie star way would get that far.......the standard is still very different for a woman than a man.........males can still get by on talent........women still have to have the looks too
that said......its a start:thumbs:
lol and lets be honest.........NO one takes that simon guy(one of the judges) seriously any more........hes turned himself into a caricature of himself which is pretty tragic ;)....a little TOO fond of his own image methinks ;) lol

I think that Kurt had 10 out of the 11 countries votes. But I can't remember who didn't vote him as number 1.
I actually missed the 2nd Brit Idols. Is she really, really good?
Our second idol is a women as well.
Oh, and the look on Kelly's face was priceless!
Will Young also looked disbelieving as well

there are some here

http://worldidol.mediazone.com/

if you haven't looked already! Norwegian sites no good to you guys. Will look some more tomorrow, and if I can manage to make some soundfiles I will...I've got some cd's of his.

It was the arabian countries that didn't give Kurt top votes. And what little I've seen/heard of Michelle cerainly is good!

Facial expressions yea well they looked like they'd missed the last boat but I didn't want to gloat too much .

I was disappointed with World Idol. The Canadian guy sucked. (Of course that was the only reason.) I thought Kelly Clarkson had the best voice, but I didn't really want her to win because Americans win everything, so I was glad that Kurt won. And speaking of facial expressions... Did you see all of them after the Arab vote? They were so surprised! Of course, so was I. The Arabs acutally gave Ryan Malcolm a good vote. lol

I didn't even know about this contest until I read about the winner in the paper yesterday. And it was just a tiny tiny thing in a corner too. Probably because Sweden wasn't in the contest. The only ones I've heard of the contestants are Alexander from Germany and Will Young from the UK.. so I won't say anything about the others.

But congrats to Norway! It said in the paper that he's Norways version of Samwise Gamgee. ;)

One of the judges said that if it was middle earth idols he would be a cert for winner.
In the end he was a cert anyway!!!!lol
Oh, and by the way, has anyone seen Scary Movie 3? it is supposed to have Simon Cowell in it being his usual charming self!

I dunno anything about Sam Gamgees singing abilities....this hobbit sings U2 and Aha and Saybia like something else tho! And his own music is good too!

Those judges were pretty horrible tho...how come they didn't see they were embarrasing themselves?

Just thought I'd say that Kurt is now in Kenya due to Plan International having a great sponsorchild event on norwegian TV soon....in case any of you guys are somewhere near!
