I have just read The book of lost tales v1 and v2!
The stories of Turin and Luthien were really awsome! They almost made me cry!!! Such poewrfull, emotional stories! they made the stories of Turin and Luthien in Silmarillion look like a summary. Has anyone else read them? Any opinions?

Hello... since this thread is about The Book of Lost Tales, I am moving it to Tolkien's Other Works. ;) It is a little different from the version in the Sil.
The stories of Beren & Luthien and Turin Turambar in the Sil do not tell much of the details, since the book is about the entire Quenta Silmarillion.
I loved the story of Turin in Lost Tales... It was so tragic that it made me cry.
Beren and Luthien's story was quite different from the version in the Sil. The evil character that I liked was Tevildo the Cat. It was interesting to read how the cats lost their former power and glory because of the battle between Tevildo and Huan.

Yes, those lays are really great. The stories sound more beautiful than when they are narrated. It is amazing how Tolkien made such long poems in which all lines rhyme.

Yes, I was amazed at the Ryhming and how even though it was a long poem, it was beautfiul all the way through.
