When I leave the site, I want to log out to indicate that I am no longer active on the site. But when I do that, it wipes out my cookies makes me log in again the next time I access the site. Is there a way to logout (show me not being active on the site) without having to log back in next time? Just curious. Not a big deal, but if it can be changed, that would be cool.

Well I think when you go offline, it takes you off the active list.. Or if you've been inactive for long enough you disappear as well.. I know at other sites you can disappear after about 15 minutes of inactivity.. I'm not sure about here tho...;)

Yea...Adun...you are correct! :p
The "unser online" indicators are cookies based and expire after 60 minutes of non-activity. The 60 minutes was decided upon so that you could open your browser, view the boards, and if you had to close it for some reason , it would take an hour for your cookies to reset and mark all the forums as read.
Aragorn, unfortunately, no...when you log off, it clears ALL of your cookies imediately, and then of course you would have to log back in. If you just close your browser and walk away...then you will be shown as inactive about 1 hour from that time, and of course you would not have to log back in.
Hope this helps!

Cheers for the answer. I realize that who is logged in does not need to be that accurate as this is not a chat site, but like many who have chatted, I do appreciate the real time status that it provides. Thanks for the detailed reply, it is much appreciated.
