View Full Version : What part you wished they had showed
Galadriel
August 16th,2002, 06:53 PM
I really wished that they has showed more of Lorien. I mean I wished that they had showed the party on the Lake with Galadriel on the swan boat and how every one got there gifts from her. i also wished they had showed in bree where frodo had sang that silly song and the singing in Rivendell

Heck, I wish they'd shown everything! Sure, it would be another half-hour long, but it would be worth it...however, that's what the Nov edition is for...
I'd like to have seen either Tom Bombadil in there, or the Gift-giving scene.

I wished they showed Frodo making an *** out of himself at Bree. hehehe! lol I love that part in the book!

There are loadsa things i wish they'd shown, but here's the biggest ones:
1. The Old Forest and the Barrow Downs coz they were scary. Plus I thought it was really stupid when Strider just produces those swords and sez "these are for you". Where the hell did he get them or does he just carry mini swords with him for fun? (I mean i love Strider but that was just stupid)
2. I wish they had made The Prancing Pony friendly and had more of Butterbur and the bit with Gandalf's letter (though i suppose that wouldnt have worked coz of the different time they have in the movie)
3. I wish they had had more of Lórien and also wish they hadnt made Galadriel so creepy. In the book she's so good and pure. That CGI effect when she is tempted was terrible. Why couldnt they have made it more like when Gandalf speaks to Bilbo and goes all tall and scary-that would have been better. She didnt seem friendly and she was supposed to be:(

I wish that they had not portrayed Aragorn as someone who had rejected his heritage as Elrond stated to Gandalf. That is completely contrary to what Tolkien wrote the character of Aragorn to be. He was a tremendous person of faith in things yet unseen. He endured so many years of hardship to come into his inheritance and he Never turned his back on who he was, but rather developed patience to receive, in good time, what he had both earned and was entitled to.
I also wish that they had shown the feast preceeding the counsel and had Much more diaolgue between Gandalf and Frodo as Frodo is recovering in Rivendale.

I'd love to see the barrow downs (and I 1000% agree on the sword producing). I think they wouldn't be so far from the original if they used the little child of the barrow wight or if Aragorn saved them (which IMO would be the best variant as the shortened scene in the inn was pointless)

I wish that they had shown the blossoming friendship of Gimli and Legolas. I hope that TTT shows more of this!
This is a silly thing, but I wish they had mentioned that Galadriel is Arwen's Grandmother! I thought it was really funny and I explained this useless info to each person I took to see it.

lol I love explaining everything that was different to my friends---and parents. LOL Useless information is good! And yes, Galaddriel shouldn't have been seen going nucleur like that. All she needed was a clean, brighter white light. Or, if they HAD to have her go nuke, they could have at least made her voice more undertsandable...first time I saw it, I could hardly understand a word she said!
Ooh, the feast in the Hall of Fire! That would have been wonderful. Give audiences another chance to see Arwen and Aragorn look all lovy-dovy...*grin* AND THE SONGS!! They needed SONGS! What is Middle-Earth without them?? Yet I do remember hearing that Aragorn did sing a song, but that was cut out. Perhaps he sang the tale of Beren and Luthien? Awww...that would have been just...lovely!

I wish they would have at least had Bilbo's poem about his friend Dunadain! I love those lines Allthat is gold does not glitter...
But of course VIGGO does glitter so it might not have fit.

I also wish they had shown the Old Forest and the Barrow Downs and also the wolves near the Emyn Muil (sp?) before Aragorn explains their path to Gimli :)

I forgot that-that was also something that annoyed me ALOT!!!
In the trailer for the extended version they show a log floating along so i have to assume its Gollum. Also I read that one of the cut scenes IS Aragorn singing the lay of Lúthien and Beren! YAY!

The extended version of FOTR does also show more of Lorien - the elves going to the Grey Havens and the gift giving scene in its entirity.
Yet I'm sure everyone already knew that. :)

has ne1 noticed in the film that when Aragorn throws an apple at Pippin, Pippin staggers back and he already has an apple in his hand-i know this isnt strictly on topic, but that's something i wished i hadnt noticed actually.
TheRingBearer
August 28th,2002, 09:31 PM
Well actually if you look closely, Merry catches the first apple and gives it to Pippin. Then Pippin gets hit on the head with the second apple but he already has one in his hand from Merry. :)

  hehe-i never noticed that-mainly coz everytime i watch that bit i'm too busy thinking-how come pippin ends up with another apple that i dont actually see why. I'll hav to tell my sister coz she always puzzles over that

I wish they would have released PJ's original 4:30 cut! :)
At least, that's what I heard it was from several sources... is anyone else kinda ticked that even with the extended DVD there's *still* an hour of footage we're not seeing?

Yeah, I really hope that's in the extended cut too!
And if the put Sam's stanza in, of course they have to put Frodo's part in as well!
I swear, the only reason I'm not anticipating TTT as much as I should be is that the extended FotR is coming out before it... :)

After looking again I'm quite certain that it is meant to be Gollum in the eye of that statue but it could just be a shadow but it would make sense as the camera does sweep right over the head of it, maybe for this reason. Anyway if I'm wrong I don't care, I'll watch lotr over and over even without rumours

lol I can't wait to see The Green Dragon. If you look closely at that clip from the preview, you can see Frodo dancing around the table, whilst Pippin and Merry are dancing on top of the table. Frodo actually having a good time! :elfeek: :o

There are many things that I wish were included in Lord of the Rings 'The Fellowship of the Ring.' But I do understand why PJ had to cut some of them out. At least he filmed so of them so in November we get a chance to see them.
1)A bit more of Gollum
2)More of Arwen in Rivendell
3)The gift-giving scene in Lothlorien and Gimli fearing to go in to the Golden Wood
4)Fog on the Barrow-downs and the Old Forest. I loved those chapters and wish that they were included.
5)Goldberry and Tom Bombadil are something that I missed the most and now it is left to imagination to conjure images of the two.

The pics we've seen of the midgewater marshes look mighty fine....i think a bit more of between bree and the ford sequence will be greatly appreciated....we will get an idea of how wild 'THE WILD' is....aragorn may have been able to guide them but it was still a struggle. It isn't really shown in the film how the hobbits would have NEVER been able to get to rivendell if it wasn't for his path-knowledge and skills etc. :king:
Lady Ashley
September 13th,2002, 11:55 PM
Really! And what was this thing, 6 days from Rivendell??? 1) it was more like 2 weeks and 2) since when does SAM know how long it would take them!? He'd never been out of the Shire! Duh!
And I never liked how Bree seemed to be just over the Brandywine...that stunk.
BUT I DID note that they included that hedge near Bree! (I realized this when I was reading Fellowship. heehee) I need to re-watch the movie. Ooh, I've seen the Seige of Gondor today....I've moved right along in ROTK. yay!

I would love to have seen the scene at Cerin Amroth in Lothlórien, "the heart of Elvendom on earth". For Tolkien, this was one of the most important passages in the book.

I really think they should have put something about Tom Bombadil in the movie, i know it would have added to the movie but i don't think you get the right idea about how much danger the hobbits ran into before they evn got to Bree! and i hated the way Strider was brought into the movie if they had of used the letter from Gandalf in the movie you would have got a better idea about what he has been doing.

November 4th,2002, 05:03 PM
If only there had been time, I would have loved to see Tom Bombadil asking Frodo to see the ring....then trying it on and NOT disappearing! That one part tells a lot about Tom Bombadil!

November 4th,2002, 10:30 PM
plus it would have made better sense, coz then they could have had the barrow whights and Tom could rescue them and they could get their swords from there instead of Strider just happening to have 4 spare hobbit-sized swords lol

Right now I wish it would have been Glorfindel that came for Frodo. I think it would have been cooler to have Frodo riding off on Glorfidels horse like it was in the book. It seemed more dangerous that way....:)

mhm ... i wished they had shown more of the Shire.
and of the gaffer because i think that´s a really nice character.
and also more of rivendell. only a view of the whole "town" that´s isn´t enough for me.
of course they could haves shown the whole story with all its chapters i would say nothing against it.
lol lol lol

True it would have been worth the time. But, it would have taken as long as it took to film all three just to film the first one. They'd still be filming the third one now.... That to me would just be crazy.....;) :p lol

I wish they sang or quoted some of those great poems! :) :) :) The part I missed most in the movie was the part where the hobbits go through the Old Forest. I sure like the part where they are nearly eaten by a tree! I also like Tom Bombadil!:p :p

I hope there will be much more between Legolas and Gimli in TTT than in FOTR. They should've been more hostile to each other in FOTR. I wish EVERYTHING in the book, including the script, was used in the movies! I don't care if the movie is counted by days!:p :p ;)

Well it wouldn't make money, that means no more movies, and the cost would be way too high.
Besides a movie so much close to the book would need a narrator in it, that would perhaps ruin the experience.
Now, don't get me wrong, I would absolutley love to see a 2 day FOTR but it really would be too hard to make.

Yes, I also think that the EV improved a lot of things, and Gimli and Legolas talking in the boat on the Anduin.
