We could handle anywhere from 10-20 of you fine peoples in our house..... We've got the a 32" Trinitron and Surround sound in which to have the movie playing (on repeat of course), and we can BBQ or something.....:p

I could forsee WotR (me) picking up the cost for the meats.... and everything else (drinks, muchies, sides, etc.) could just be pot luck.

Anyway....I'd pondered this awhile back....but matters such as these are better wehn suggested by the Lady of the house. hehe And with the DVD due out in May...well....there ya have it!

I suppose we could consider this an invitation! lol

Okay....if the date of June 20th is good for everybody, then please go ahead and check in here and confirm. Once everyone has confirmed, I will then go ahead and make the annnouncement of the "WotR So. Cal Gathering I" proper. :p The announcement will of course contain the normal guidelines (no drugs, boooze, etc.). hehe I figure by making the announcement we may even catch another eye or two as it appears to be a sum total of about 6 to 8 of us so far, and we've got enough space for oh..... 20 probably. :grin: All of the party info...(address, directions, etc) will sent to all who confirm via private message. Hence the need for the confirmations.

Needless to say, the wife and I are looking forward to meeting all of you (except Arkenstone...we KNOW you...;) lol), and would be honoured to have all of you at our house for this event.

I'll have the BBQ going, someone mentioned Lembas, we'll probably start the SEVDVD for FotR going around noonish, followed by TTT, and ending with RotK of course. We've even been looking at getting some decorations, like Gondor Banners for the front yard, but if you have anything like that and would care to bring it, that would be kewl as well.

Well, now we're kind of leaning toward August...the Fourth of July is a big deal, and a lot of people go on vacation in July, but, besides the weather, August is pretty much dead, so I think that's what we're gonna shoot for (gives us more time to acquire LoTR-type decorations and get the backyard fixed up appropriately!)

But..no.....there were no plans to be galavanting around anywhere...hehe

I think the main theme of us getting together is of course...Fellowship. And that's why we thought that having folks over to our house for the first one would be pretty kewl. Who knows....maybe next year we can have it on the beach or summat.

We're planning on ordering some decorations for the house...Rohan banners and such, and I have a new BBQ and am dying to use it! lol I'm not sure about finding Warg meat around, but I'm sure I can smoke us some other meats like ribs, brisket, and chickens! We can just pretend! :p If you would like to bring anything like snackables, beverages (non alcoholic of course), and treats like the Lembas that a certain someone mentioned that would be great!

Our initial thoughts are to have the picnic table set up out back by the BBQ, and to have LotR things going on inside and outside of the house as well! We've got LotR Monopoly, LotR Chess, and LotR Backgammon....and at about noon we figure to start the SEDVD's playing which should start the theatrical RotK DVD at approx 9pm! :p

Any other ideas for fun stuff are most welcome!

Just a quick update.....

All of the confirmation pm's have been sent and most but a few have answered and received a reply with directions, etc. :p

To those who replied that they could not make it...no worries! Maybe...just maybe...if this one goes off well...we'll have another one next year, and hopefully you will be able to come by for a wee bit of fellowshipping! :grin:

Now...we have ordered some decorations...nothing big...but we ordered the Rohan Tapestry (the kewl one with the big white horse and site green background), and a couple of other banners as well. These should be here hopefully by next week, and will proudly be displayed outside in front of the house...making us an easy mark for those in search of Tolkien fans. ;)

I'm also going to finally put together my new BBQ this weekend, and then it will be all over but the shouting! lol

10:AM - I'll start the meats a smokin! We be smoking up Ribs, Chicken, Sausages, and maybe Brisket.
12 Noon - SEDVD of FotR starts! (And so it begins!) lol
12-3 something - Fellowship and Gaming (LotR Monopoly, Chess and Backgammon)
3 something - SEDVD of TTT starts
3 something to 5 something - Continued Fellowship and Gaming
5 something - We Feed!!
Around 6 - RotK DVD starts
9 - 10 something - Party Ends, Many Partings takes place, and party goers head home hopefully stuffed and with goodies! lol

If anybody wants to bring snackables or beverages(non-alchoholic), then that would be kewl!

After all the planning and preparation and excitement of the actualy day, I confess (I know...there's another thread for that) that as RoTK played out and Illu cleaned up the last of the mess, I was thoroughly exhausted, and I went outside to relax on the couch on for a few minutes and ended up falling asleep...truly the mark of a successful event!!!
