Does anyone listen to Enya? Besides the FOTR soundtrack.:) I listen to her almost religiously. Does anyone else feel the same?

YES! I ABSOLUTELY LUV HER!!
But what a shame that my mom can't see the difference between a song and another song...
When she heard May it Be, she was like. "What is this different from her other song?" pfbbt pfbbt

Does anyone know if she is going to be on TTT soundtrack? I hope she will be. You know, she has the perfect voice for LOTR. I actually think she might be an elf because she never ages, and her voice is so incredibly lovely. :elfqueen:

You're right about that, Arwen.

Besides being right about everything else in your post, Enya just might be an elf herself. lol

I've always loved 'Orinoco Flow' (sp?) while all the rest of her music is good as background music. That singer whose name I wish I could remember, who sang the beautiful high notes in 'Titanic' reminded me of Enya.

Celine Dion?

No, the other one. I think her name starts with 'S' and she's from eithier Scotland or Ireland, if I remember right.

I finally came across my Titanic soundtrack so I could look it up. She is SESSEL from Norway.

<------- I'm glad I found that avatar! I have that picture on one of my FOTR book covers. ! ! ! ! !

I absolutely love Enya in singing 'A Day without rain'. It was played at a friend's wedding...

That is an awesome song! Has anyone ever listened to The Memory of Trees? That, in my humble opinion, is some of her best stuff! In fact, I'm listening to it right now.

One of my teachers played Enya and it got me into it, i had two of her CDs but lost themmecry
But yes she was so perfect for LOTR and you'd almost think she were an elf with her beautiful voice. I love that kind of music she sings. *deep sighs.*

Have any of you listened to Clannad which is the group she was in before she wnet solo. You can hear in them the transition from Irish folk to the type of music she does now. Great to listen to.

Bit of Trivia I got from my Uncle, Enya's sister is Sarah Brightman. Does anyone know her? She's one of Andrew Lloyd Webbers ex-wives....Think Phantom of the Opera...Anyways, I absolutely adore Enya. I got hooked on her when Patriot Games came out, Clannad did some of the soundtrack for it....Especially love her Watermark and Sheperds Moon albums...

Sorry but your uncle was misinformed.
Eithne Ní Bhraonáin(aka Enya) was born on May 17th 1961, in Dore Bartley, a small village in the region Gaoth Dobhair (Donegal County) in the northwest of Ireland. She is the fourth youngest of nine children: Máire (1952), Ciarán, Pól, Deirdre, Leon, Eithne (1961), Bartley, Olive, and Bridín.
Sarah Brightman was born on August 14th 1960 in Hertfordshire, England. The oldest of 6 children.
So just from these two pieces of biography you can tell that they can't possibly be sisters.

Enya is however related to the members of Clannad.
One of her first solo projects after leaving Clannad was to do the music for (I think) a BBC series called "The Celts", hence the album is called ..."The Celts" lol the music makes me think of the Rohirrim. Watermark is still a favourite one though, esp Evening Falls, Orinoco Flow, Storms in Africa (partially because it reminds me OF storms in Africa ~ pretty special ), Na Laetha Geat M'oige etc.
Clannad I adore. I knew of them before I knew of Enya as a solo artist. I particularly love the "theme from Harry's Game" (the one used in Patriot Games). Its becuase of that song that I tracked them down and now I have so many of their albums, but I think I prefer the earlier stuff. In addition to "The theme from Harry's Game", I particularly like "Nil sen la" and "Now is Here"
Its so funny when you see the old Clannad photos when Enya was still in there. They all look so alike. You can see Mary (Maire) and Enya are sisters. the brothers are almost interchangeable (when they have the same hair cut and facial growth ;) ).

Harry's Game was a UK Tv drama in 1982 and the song became a hit over night. The song also was used by the Americans to advertise the Volkswagen cars.
I also like Clannad especially their early stuff. It drives the youngest mad when I play but the eldest like the more folky tunes like 'Nil sen la'.

I listened to Clannad more than Enya till I heard the FOTR soundtrack. Now I don't listen to anything apart from the FOTR and TTT soundtracks! It drives my family crazy! :-)
Sorry, though, Tinwe: Enya's not on the TTT soundtrack. It's still brilliant though.

Everytimes I listen that I imagine that I'm in moria with dwarfs even they don't dig any gold or silver there.. Once you had mithril.. lol), Song of Sandman, Evenings Falls, Book of days.. I really like that music :dragon:

And I thought the name Enya was a nice touch, but what you say is her real name is awsome! I wish I had accents in my name, but hey! at least it's over one syllable long, not that that is a slight to anyone. . . But there is just something about here musuc. . . I've said it before and I'll say it again, I really think she's an elf!!! :elfqueen:

I like her early stuff ... but now ... it seems everything sounds the same.

She said once in an Interviw that she never listen to other Music, only her own stuff ... i think it couldn´t be wrong to open herself for other things ... I´m sure you would hear that in her Music.

oh dear isn't that a bit egoistic of her? lol
Maybe she can't fork out the time. But she does have very unique vocals.

I love Enya! She has such a beautiful voice and I love hearing her sing in Celtic! It's so awesome! I love listening to her music in the bathtub or in my room when I'm trying to relax. It really calms me down after a day of hard work.
