A rune Tolkien used as a sign... I always thought it's very pretty... it's on the side thingy of the old bulgarian edition of LotR... guess that doesn't help much does it lol

Is it just me, or you can see JRRT in it?
There's an obvious J, and one R is facing right, the other one left, and the T is easily seen too...

Yea...I see that too...I thought that was the point of it...like sort of a signiture that he used...I doubt it's a coincidence that his initials are in it

I thought it was Chinese at first.. but then I asked my mother, she was like, "no.. it isn't chinese, silly girl" lol
That's a really cool signature/rune, the Prof used :thumbs:

Anyways, is pretty cool and yea I see know the JRRT thanks for that, also that sign is on the side thing in the purple version of the Sil ;) :p

its whats called a monogram, and yes its JRRT in a graphic form. the prof used this a lot as a type of signature

Although, have you noticed that the LOTR editions by New Line dont have that monogram :(

Tolkien was a genius. *pauses reverentially* I've tried and tried (for the past three years, mind you) to get my initials to look that pretty in a rune, but it always comes out really, really stupid. *siiiiigh* I guess it's a given that I could never measure up to the greatest, most inventive writer of all time.
