I have never read this book... in fact this is one of the only books by Tolkien.. i Haven't read..

Does it make any references to Middle Earth?

Is its a good book? Worth reading?

He wrote it with someone, I cant remember his name.. What was the name of the author that helped him write it?

I have the book but haven't really read it yet... so many other stuff to read! Sir Gawain probably has nothing to do with Middle-Earth.

In fact, I don't think he wrote the story himself. It was written by an unknown medieval poet. He translated it into English.

Hi Radagast! This book is kind of difficult difficult to "get into" initially. Having said that, it is a good book. It does not delve into ME tho. It is 3 storys or legends in one book. If you like Prof. Tolkien's works, then you will probably enjoy this one too. If you're only into ME then perhaps not. Hope this helps. ;)

Here's what www.amazon.com says:
"Sir Gawain is a young knight who must prove his valor, piety and courtesy when confronted with a succession of temptations." "SIR GAWAIN AND THE GREEN KNIGHT, PEARL, and SIR ORFEO are masterpieces of a remote and exotic age--the age of chivalry and wizards, knights and holy quests."

I've started reading it.. and you are right it does'nt delve into ME.. So it isn't nearly as good as his other works lol but its still worth reading I must say..

Yes... anything written by Tolkien is worth reading! This thread reminds me that I'm going to have to read Sir Gawain as well... shame on me for not having read it yet while others already are!

I read part of it...it's pretty good! Although Tolkien didn't write it, I could still see some connections between that and LotR (but that may be because I'm obsessed, who knows).
