Might be a bit 'old hat ' and I'm incredibly slow, but just had word that Orlando has been approached to be the new James Bond.
How do we feel about that?

I've never heard it either, but then I'm not really a Bond fan, but I think he would be good in the role. My friend, who loves Bond films would be turning somersaults if it's true- she loves Orlando as the elf, I think she'd be happy to see him as Bond!

Sorry, girls, but Hugh Jackman has accepted the Bond role...
I'm kinda glad though, I don't know if I would have been able to take him seriously as James Bond...that would have been awkward...

Aah thats fine..............heard it the radio and wasn't sure I have to say.
As nice and handsome and british Orli is.........I just don't see him as a Bond. Too young in my eyes;)

Hmm I think I heard about this a while ago..but I completely forgot about it!! I just can't imagine him as James Bond...He just doesn't have the "James Bond" look...Mind you, I'm not saying that he's not good looking...but like TN said..he's too young!

Sorry? I'm just jumping of joy lol
Orli is so not Bond material... it'll be such a joke... and even so I'll be missing Brosnan... the man did a great Bond... too bad age doesn't forgive anyone ))))):

Well as far as I know, Brosnan is supposed to play Bond atleast once more.. He's contracted to do the next movie allready.. So I don't think we'll be seeing a new Bond yet..;)

I think I like Hugh Jackman for the role better that Orlando but then I still thing Sean Connery was the ultimate Bond.

Orlando just isn't the Bond type...thank goodness. ;) lol I've never really seen a JB movie...I've just seen commercials, and those were only with Brosnan...(my dad always thought it was "Bronson" lol roflmao)

Hugh Jackmans supposed to be Bond???!!! I dont think hes good looking enough. As a James Bond fan James Bond is supposed to be absolutly handsome. Orlando would make a good Bond maybe when he got older. But for now hes to young.

This is from an interview published on the 18th March
Any truth to the rumours you're going ot be the next James Bond?
None of the producers have ever spoken to me about the role. But if they start asking if anyone want to give Bond a shot, I'll put my hand up.
So far this is the 3rd name linked with the role after Pierce has finished. I think we will have to wait for the official announcement for the real answer.

Actually, thinking about it, David Wenham would make a pretty acceptable Bond....I think he'd be pretty hot in a tux.

Hugh Jackman was absolutely hilarious in "Kate and Leopold", even though he might not be the best looking guy...he's not bad, though. He's a good actor, at least. But I don't really see him bonding with Bond too well...can't really picture it...

Hey he would make a good James Bond because hes so sexy and he reminds me of Roger Moore. I think its the red hair. ;)

And yes IDM, Connery will always be my Bond too.;) Well this movie was supposed to be the younger years of Bond.. So a younger actor is called for...;)
But yea, the ultimate bond will alwasy be the original Bond the still hot Sean Connery...;)

I think it's the Sean's Welsh accent. yummy:chef: ('tis Welsh, right?)
I think Hugh is pretty yummy, too. But I still think Jude Law or Ralph Fiennes would be a better candidate for Bond. They've both got flash to spare, but in a sexy, understated way :naughty:

Sean IS Bond. Period, over, and out. ;)
Yeah, I can sorta see Orli as bond, but he's kinda young, and considering the kind of dialogue in the last Bond flicks, I don't think it would do much in helping him shake his reputation for obvious one-liners ;)

this news from imdb.com would appear to rule out any possibility of Orlando playing Bond in the next few years...
Hollywood bosses were forced to offer Pierce Brosnan the chance to play James Bond for a fifth time - after fans threatened to boycott the films if they replaced him. Brosnan, who last played 007 in 2002's Die Another Day, was only optioned to reprise his role as the secret agent - and producers were considering recruiting fellow Irishman Colin Farrell. According to British newspaper The Daily Star Sunday, bosses deliberately leaked plans to gauge the response from the movie-going public - and were inundated with appeals not to ditch Brosnan. An un-named MGM executive tells the newspaper, "We didn't realize what an army of supporters Pierce has. We got the message Pierce stays."

March 23rd,2004, 06:37 AM
Colin Farrell? I guess he would be ok only of they made him look like he did in Phonebooth. He looked kinda Bondish in that. Oh well maybe Orlando can be Bond when he gets older like in his 30's. Yay I want to see Pierce Brosnan as 007 again, hes still sexy. :naughty:
Go Sean Connery!!! Hes sexy for an old guy. lol He will forever be the real James Bond. :)

I agree with Lessa...Orli is way, way , way too young, and just doesn't fit the role. Besides, who wants a ton of fangirls squealing when you're trying to watch a good action movie?

I think Dom should be the next Bond. In my opinion, Orli is too good-looking and alll of his roles have been far too innocent for him to successfully play the chauvanist yet sauve Bond.
If you want more reasons for why I believe Dom should portray James Bond, go to my website:
www.spiesandsecretagents.com/lotr
Click on the button labelled, "fun," and then click the sub-link labelled, "Bond."
And remember, I hold nothing against Orlando . . . yet. (That was a joke) :p

Well the one thing you all seem to forget is that with the next couple of movies the rumor was they were planning to go back to a younger Bond.. The early year of Bond when he first became an agent.. So a younger actor would be totally appropriate.. And I think Orlando could have pulled off a young agent..;)
Shire Girl
April 17th,2004, 02:19 PM
I think Orlando would make a good James Bond but maybe next time around as I think he is a bit too young at the moment and he should get some more movies on his cv because once you're cast as James Bond it seems you are stuck as him for the rest of your career.
ImDaMom
April 17th,2004, 03:27 PM
I'm not sure, Shire Girl....SEan Connery, while my personal favorite Bond, has been able to move onto other roles. Roger Moore wasn't much of an actor anyway, so it's no surprise he's stuck with the Bond baggage.

April 17th,2004, 09:24 PM
Bloom is too young for that role.... I think Hugh Jackmann is better for this role since Bond was never represented by an actor as yound as Bloom. And yes I think Sean Connery is the best Bond too

Yea, I definitly think Orlando could pull off the whole "Bond in his youth" thing (i.e. young...naive...hot...adorably clueless...etc. when he first becomes a spy; kinda like River Phoenix as the naive Indiana Jones), but if they just tried to carry on the Bond film w/Orli as the "seasoned agent" thing (i.e. old woman monger) that Brosnan has been doing, OMG the movie would TOTALLY stink! And I think Jackman is too much of a, i dunno "wild-man Aragorn type," to do the whole suave/debonair spy in fast cars + perpetually wearing a black suit thing (I mean, can u see Viggo wearing a suit 24/7? I don't think so!).

Yea I think this was all just a rumor started by the studio, to get people reaction to the possibility of a new Bond. I guess the reaction wasnt' good, so Brosnan is supposed to do one more movie. After that tho, your guess is as good as anyone as to who will fil the shoes of 007.;)

April 27th,2004, 10:27 PM
Ah, I see.
Well, as far as Orlando is concerned, I don't think he's right for the part. I just... don't see it. But that might have something to do with the fact that I always found James Bond to be slightly annoying, which is something I can't picture my dear Orli to be... lol
Adunauriel
April 28th,2004, 02:44 AM
Well I'm with you Gala, Orlando definately isn't annoying. But I think he would make a good Bond.;)

Lessa
April 29th,2004, 12:54 PM
You have to remeber that Bond was in the Navy and got to the rank of commander so he would stil be older than Orlando is now went he as recruited to the secret service whilst in the navy.
Lessa
Adunauriel
April 29th,2004, 11:00 PM
True, but it would also depend on how quickly he worked his was to Commander. He would probably have been an officer, and depending on what age he entered the Navy at. He could have achieved the ranking at a young age.;)
Lessa
April 30th,2004, 10:36 AM
I stil don;t think he would have been recruited befor he was 30.
Lessa
Elfdaughter
April 30th,2004, 04:02 PM
No, Adun's right. Coming from a Naval background, I know that it is possible to be a very young commander - provided you pass all the exams, of course! Was it told anywhere that he worked his way to commander? It is possible to go straight into officership, if you have the right qualifications. Then, of course it's easier to work up to commander - and faster, than if you went in as a rating.
Adunauriel
April 30th,2004, 08:32 PM
Well I guessed that Bond would have been a officer. It just made more sence that way. And lets not forget that Orlando is only 3 years away from 30. So it's entirely possible that he could play the role.;)

We have a new name to throw into the mix. They have been going on about Clive Owen and the role although he will not been drwn on the subject saying that Pierce is still playing Bond.

Well... I still think that Orlando does not have what it takes to be Bond. He's to thin and Bond has to have a well built body. He would't fit a Bond's outfit.
Bond is not a baby face... Bloom looks a little delicate and Bond is a macho-rough type lol.
I think Hugh Jackman should make that part. :p
I don't have anything against Orlando but... this is kinda like Leo d'caprio as Anakin Skywalker pfbbt
:batty:
Adunauriel
May 2nd,2004, 11:03 PM
Well we all have our own choices. As for fitting into the Bond role, I think Orlando looks very dashing in suits. And if he keeps up with the body he's getting for KoH, he'll definately be well built. Maybe he's not as 'manly' looking as Brosnan, or Connery. But I definately think he could get the ladies anyways.;)

I saw a tiny article in the Parade Magazine (newspaper) that suggested Orlando may be considered, but no details were given for it. Its was a question on who the new james bond might be and Orlando was among the suggested possibilities....not bad for the fine young man.:D
Adunauriel
May 3rd,2004, 06:58 AM
I read that same thing. It also mentioned Clive Owen, Viggo, & Hugh, as possible replacements.;)
ImDaMom
May 3rd,2004, 02:58 PM
I'm afraid they'd have the same issue with Viggo- he's already closer to 50 than any of the others. Besides, I just don't think he'd be right for it. Do you think Bond, James Bond ever sits around without shoes on??? ;)
Adunauriel
May 3rd,2004, 07:51 PM
Nah I'm not even sure he takes them off when he's in bed with a lady. Altho if Viggo played the role I could see it. It just wouldn't be very Bondish. Also, I think Bond should definately be played by someone who does a better English accent.;) No offence to Viggo, but his wasn't the best ever.
Lessa
May 4th,2004, 12:42 PM
Much as I like Viggo I don't think he is the man for the role. As IDM said he is about the same age as Pierce so would only have one film in him but aside from that I don't think he has the gravitas for the part.
Lessa
Adunauriel
May 4th,2004, 10:14 PM
Well then we have a similar problem with all the actors suggested that are in their late 30's. As they're all getting older, they wont be able to fill the part for very long. Maybe it is time to go for a younger actor to fill the part. Even if it isn't Orlando, it will probably have to someone clost to his age.;)
Amithrellas
May 5th,2004, 01:33 PM
Do you think Bond, James Bond ever sits around without shoes on??? ;)
Good point, IDM lol lol
And not just sitting ... it's hard to find a picture of Viggo with shoes on!
No, I don't think Viggo's suitable for Bond. But I don't think age is the sole discriminator, either. Pierce might have been suitable longer if he wasn't such a sun worshipper. It's aged him prematurely, imo.
I think Hugh Jackman has the sort of boyish face that could take him a long way, while having the proper 'gravitas' for 007.
Clive Owen is a really interesting prospect. He definitely has sex appeal, but I think it's a bit quirky.
ImDaMom
May 5th,2004, 02:50 PM
Maybe as an American version of Bond, Viggo may work. I still think Hugh Jackman more than Orlando. (But then, Id like to see Hugh in ANYTHING! I may just see Van Helsing just to watch HJ ;) )
