Give Viggo Back His Art!!

As decided in another thread, we are unhappy that a fan would steal private writings from Viggo. Therefore, while not a petition, we wanted to send the thief a message as well as send Viggo our sympathies! SO.....add your name to our plea!!

We, the undersigned find it deplorable that someone would steal personal papers and writings dear to the author. We therefore request that the low life, orc who stole them return them to the performer, with no thought of reward or compensation.
We at WOTR will continue to press for anyone with knowledge of the perpetrator to come forward and give Viggo back his private work!

Well said Amithrellas! It is just plain wrong, i know if someone stole any of my works whether it be writings, photos or paintings i'd be really mad, because that kind of stuff represents more then just words or pretty pictures, and it is something i could never get back.

I would also like to appeal to the person who stole Viggo's work to return it to him. I understand that 75 poems were stolen and I cannot begin to imagine the hurt that Viggo is experiencing right now. An artist's work is sacred to him or her and I know Viggo must feel terribly violated by this despicable act. Three years of thought and creativity stolen without any regard to his feelings. verymad That really irks me because I know that some of those poems were probably written on the spur of the moment or from a quick inspiration never to be recaptured again.

Therefore, you know who you are, and I am appealing to you to return Viggo's art to him. Trust me, your conscience will be a little less heavy.

but selling them on ebay would be stupid, if they claim it's Viggo's then it's as good as confession and if they claim it's their own work someone is bound to find out. Anyone who knows Viggo's work well enough would be able to spot it with or without his name on it. :huh:
I really hope he gets it back, people shouldn't steal work, but I trust the human conscience as Lady Galadriel said, they must feel incredibly guilty and I'm sure they will come to realise their error and return them.

I can say that I'll not only be thinking of the theives, but I will also be praying for them to make the right descision. And prayer can work wonders. That many stories and poems represent part of Viggo's heart and being, and those are important to people. Please, give him back his property.

Second, a favor- if you post on TORn or CoE or any other LOTR site, please make them aware of this thread or post similar requests on those sites- the more this appeal is shown, the better chance we have of the perpetrator seeing our pleas, and being moved to do the responsible thing- GIVE VIGGO BACK HIS ART!!!!

To steal the work of a writer for one's own profit is a terrible, terrible crime. Only someone with the dark spirit of Sauron would do such a heinous thing. What I'm more afraid of (and perhaps Viggo is too) is that the criminal will try to pass off some of his work as their own. As a writer, I guess it's your worst nightmare.

Viggo is a good man. His writing is incredible. Please person-who-stole-Viggo's-writing, GIVE IT BACK.

And if you're thinking you might buy this work if it goes on sale somewhere, please only buy it so that you can Return it to the King.

Grr...I was just imagining if someone took the things I've written...which first of all can be personal, and also have a great value...and for me express the few times when I feel creative...I would be furious. And they don't mean nearly as much to me as Viggo's stuff does to him...that would be heartbreaking. People who love to write put so much into their works...to lose them all just out of the blue like that must be terrible...especially when he had them in his car, it's not like he left them lying on the street! verymad

I'm trying to remain the optimist in all this, that the person saw Viggo leave the car, and took the backpack, assuming it only contained clothing or something that was of little value and therefore not to be missed- hence leaving the computer behind. When something terrible happens to it, it cuts him to the very soul of his being and there is a hole that will never be filled. No one deserves this kind of violation. I hope the person who did this will realize their huge mistake and return Viggo's art to him. There was a story in the April GQ (with our beloved Viggo on the cover) that told how he left his car for a few minutes, and when he came back his backpack with poetry, short stories and other items had been taken (and they left a laptop computer there!). We here at WOTR felt that the thief had to know what he/she was doing, and we find it deplorable that someone who is obviously a fan would steal something so precious to it's owner. We hoped that this fan would also see out plea, and return the items to Viggo. As of yet, we have not heard whether this has happened or not, but we hope that it has!

btw it wasnt just hte work of the last 3 years but also of some 20 years!!!!!!!even tho i think most of it was written while shooting Hidalgo so while he was in teh desert which means that those thoughts are now gone and lost....only God knows how much his poetry meant and still means to me....i sooo pray that he gets it back....
