Thank you on the pics comment.
I understand about you not hearing of him, I get that alot when I tell people about him. You may recognize him when I say he found the Confederate submarine Hunley. Not him personally, he funded and told a dive team where to look. As far as his writing he has had 20+ #1 best selling titles.

Nope didn't help much....I don't know much about these things. When did this submarine go down? And how come he could find it without diving himself? Lot of q's but I'm just totally ignorant on the subject hehehe! :)

The Hunley and its final crew went down off the coast of Charleston, SC, USA over 130 years ago. hunley.org has the history.
numa.net is Cussler's pride and joy. This may help you, he found the Carpathia (helped rescue Titanic survivors) and the Mary Celeste.
One reason for him not diving anymore is his age, 70+, the hunley was found 5+/- years ago. The other is he had 3 divers here in the state willing to keep looking while Cussler was back home with other things. They would look where Cussler indicated them to look, besides he funded the divers. Cussler's book royalties go into NUMA (non-Profit) for hunting history.
If you are any bit curious please check out numa.net. I garauntee you will be amazed.

Ahhh, pretty historical stuff, I didn't imagine it would go so far back in time! I love history, and tho this is a bit of a side track to what I usually read it's defo interesting! I must admit to having been completely puzzled by your post earlier about the burial, I'm afraid I'm too curious to not ask hehehe!

The burial events took place all last week. They did facial reconstructions of the crew also. On Saturday (last) they re-enacted a full, period burial. From start to finish it was 7.5 hours long. We caught it all on tape to watch later. The city is proud to have the third crew back and at rest rest with the first two.
