View Full Version : Prayer for the Cast

All right, I basically wanted to let everyone know that I've been praying for each of the LOTR cast members every day for a while now. I'm a Christian, and I'm not ashamed or afraid to admit that at all. Why should I be ashamed of the greatest and most amazing gift I've ever been given? But anyway, I started this thread in the hopes of encouraging others to pray for the actors and actresses along with me, as well as a place for those who already have been praying to share their thoughts. If you have any specific prayer requests or concerns relating to the cast and crew, feel free to post them too. And don't hesitate to let me know what you think of this. If you think it's a great idea and would like to join me in this, it would be a great encouragement to me to know that. If you think it's stupid, and that I'm crazy for even believing there's a God who hears and answers these prayers, that's fine too, though I would love to show you the Truth. But I can guarantee you that nothing anyone says will deter me from praying for these people. My friend and I have a weekly prayer schedule that I can post if anyone is interested, including most of the cast and some of the crew from the films. If you have any questions, go ahead and ask. I'll do my best to answer them.
Thanks,
Estariel

OK, this is all fine, but there's just one line in there that rattles my cage.

'I'd love to show you the Truth'.

Ouch.

Being a Pagan, that goes against all my instincts. See, I'm a strong believer in 'live and let live' - in other words, let people believe what they want to believe. (also, we believe in the same God you do, just we believe in a Goddess as well, and that all Gods are one God, and all Goddesses are one Goddess...) However, I do share your sentiments, and that praying (yes, even witches pray) for the cast is a good idea. I'm not going to get into a discussion about religion now (you can always PM me if you want to chat), but that one line did rile me a little bit.

I do agree that this thread shouldn't turn into a huge discussion or argument over religion, and that wasn't my intent in starting it. If anyone has any issues or questions dealing specifically with religious beliefs and such, you can PM me instead and I'll try to get back to you. If we can keep this thread focused more on the cast themselves it would probably work out better. I do know that the issue of religion generally causes a lot of interest and/or protest, so again, feel free to send me a private message for any questions, disagreements, or random comments. Thanks again, and know that I'm not trying to offend anyone with this, but I will be as honest as I can in everything I say.

Yeah, and I'm sorry if my post sounded a bit rant-like.... :cuddles:

So what sort of things do you pray about for the cast? (that makes no sense, but it is 2:10 am....)

I am atheist and feel a great deal of that same "live and let live", ED. I'm always happy when someone truely believes in something...but my belief can be not believing. But I am glad that you care so much for the cast and crew, Estariel.

I beleive that everyone needs to find their own truth. Whatever works for you is what you need to do. If that truth is organized religion, then go for it. If not, it is what you are and what you do that counts. I don't beleive that there is one truth for everyone, one size definately does not fit all. As long as we have respect for each other, then this discussion should not lead to dissention.

I am an athiest too, but that doesn't stop me having respect for the beliefs of others. I don't harbour any predjudice against anyone for colour, race or religion, and in the end, as Melian said, as long as we have respect for each other, that's all that matters. :)

Ok we've had religous thread open before, and they never work. Everyone has their own set of beliefs, and no one ever agrees completely as to what is right. So it is our policy at War of the Ring, to close these threads. They usually turn into arguments, and it's not good. We all can beleive what we choose, and that's why life is so great. So lets focus on that, and leave religion out of it.;)

This thread is now officially closed.

If you have any question Estariel, please feel free to PM me.
