Hello warringers!

I was looking through the photoforums the other day, and it suddenly occured to me, (yea I know I'm slow sometimes!:p), that we didn't have a thread in here for showing off whatever gear people have bought from shops, whether in the "real" world or on the net! Ofcourse everyone don't have the time or feel confident enough with a sewingmachine to make costumes, and sure deserve a place to show off in too! :)

So anyone wanna post their costume piccie get to it! :cool:

I dont have any LotR dresses :( but I have been looking everywhere for a place/person that could help me get my hands on my own Eowyn gown (pref. the white one from TT)
I do have another medieval dress though, from hollywoodcostums.com, it is the purple/red/silver enchantress dress ;) I wore it in a play :grin:

I have some cool pics of a play I was in that was all done in the medieval style, & we all had to come up w/ dresses, even a medival wedding gown. I had someone sew me a copy of Galadriel's cape as well :) only in silver, (I didnt get to keep it though :( )

Hey! Just wanted ya'll to know that I finnally got that piccy of the play I was in up!
Its a good pic of the dress I bought, and you can sort of see a couple of other dresses too....I am trying to find a pic of an awsome dress that was costum made for the play to post as well, it was a medieval wedding gown, and it was about $3000!!!
Anyways the pic that is up is in the Personal Favs-family/friends section of the photo forum, under the name Not Just Another Fairy Tale!

Hmmmm....it used to be Arwens blood red gown...but the costume Eowyn wore in the EE...with the light blue cape was also beautiful! Maybe I need to rethink that decission...or dig out that old poll again! I know there's one in here somwhere...!

Museum Replicas for a while was carrying the official reproductions of the costumes of the actors and have seen some in the pattern catalogue for Simplicity patterns. I have been to my local Renaissance festival and their was a lady that was also copying the costumes as well. :read:

Wool sounds like sweating bullets to me! I went in linen and velvet this summer in Sweden/Gotland and I only wore my gown one day. I almost fainted from the heat! Everyone else were wearing thin linen outfits and seemed to be cool enough!

I too wish I lived somewhere close to the larger faires...nothing like that up here far north!

A good advice...start loking for the fabrics first...then the design will come to you! If you start at the other end of it by drawing the dress it will be sooo hard to find the perfect fabric! You know how it is when you've made up your mind about what sort of thing you want...it's never in any of the shops! lol

As for costumes that can be bought of the shelves-www.museumreplicaslimited.com has a really pretty LotR-ish dress for only $59.00 (US) at the moment! It is in the dresses/skirts section, and the name of it is the 'Pleasent Peasent Dress'
I really like it, and may even buy it (I mean..Hello!! $59!!! Can you do any better??!!)
It kinda reminds me of a mix of something kinda Rohan-ish and Arwen's riding dress...

and the pics are coming, I swear....though its a miracle, seriously...the brown madgrigal dress was mine in JH, and as I lost all the original piccies, I will have to take a new one! Thank the Valar that I can still fit it! lol

actually, my aunt bought this dress and the other one i posted in the photoforum some time ago to a fair in Milan at least some 20 years ago...the fair is from ppl all over the world and they all show the most typical things of their countries...i do believe these ones she got them from some Tunisian crafter...at least i think so ;)

I came sooo close to buying a dress tonight, this one http://www.museumreplicas.com/webstore/showproduct.asp?hidProductId=100056&hidSearchPosition=5 again, and then I freaked and changed my mind...:trout:...I am not sure though...I really want to hold out for a LotR dress...so then I was gonna buy one from tolkientown, and guess what? they dont carry those really awsome ones they used to (ya know the ones hat were like $200 and copies of the blood read gown, etc...?) yeah, so Im back to seamstress land again:p
oh yeah and i dug my old medieval gown outa a box so as soon as i get arround to ironing it and taking a pic ill tell ya;)

anyways, I had to mention that if anyone is thinking about buying a dress of the shelves...Go Check Ebay now! They just added some Excellent!! LotR creations...I think they have the Galadriel dress, the Arwen white dress (from the bridge scene) and her blood red gown as well as Wyn's white wool gown....and all for around $185 a peice ;) take it from me, this is a bargain for a LotR dress!
just do a search for Medieval gowns and you should pull it up ;)

as for sizes, I believe that you send your measurements in to the vendor and she will alter it ;) although it looks to be arround a size 7 in the picture (too big for me as Im a 4 :( but if she'll alter it than it wouldnt matter :))

I've got an 18th century masquerade ball coming up next week - so no time to make something, unfortunately. But here's my costume (I'm still waiting for the wig, though). The dress is actually a top and skirt, bought from ebay. I used two cushions to get the 18th century wide-hip look, and the mask was bought from a fancy dress shop in town.
