Well come Autumn and Winter, we will be bombarded with various releases of the film on dvd.

They sound good to me, but are we suckers for buying in to this marketing orgy? Or is is it par for the course and just responding to demand?

Well, i for one shall be buying both versions.

sucker for the marketing orgy? eh...probably. but in this case, i finally have my star wars...where i've been waiting so long, i'd pretty much buy anything to get a hold of something Tolkien. but, i think its more than that...especially considering that each of the new versions adds something incredible to FOTR. it may be just a ploy to rake in the millions, which i don't think its exclusively that...but if it is...heckuva great one! ;)

I think it's rather effective and NO we're not suckers!! It's been a LIFETIME for most people waiting for these movies and all the stuff that goes along with it!!:hooray: :hooray:

oookaaaaayy...well...i'd LOVE to buy them both, and if i had money i WOULD...but yeah. of course they're doing it to get twice as much money out of (basically) the same product...plus think of all the Tolkien fans who grew UP with the book and are now all babyboomerish and have TONS of cash...this movie was made at EXACTLY the right time to make as much money as possible. not that it doesn't rock...it got me hooked on Tolkien (i refused to read ANY of his stuff before i saw the film...my dad was always forcing The Hobbit on me so i said screw it all)...but yeah.

obviously they all love what they do and are incredibly good at it...but they also know how to make billions of dollars. which they WILL...i mean, 2 DVD sets for each of the 3...plus a big thing once it's all done...and then a special edition in 10 years...yeah. and i (if i can) will buy all of them...so yeah.

and i've seen it 4 times...and i almost feel guilty for throwing so much money away...but it is SO good. SO SO SO good...

Everyone here seems to have some signed thing ....T-Shirts with Elijah Wood on it!?! I got on ebay somehow yesterday and there were tons of stuff signed and only one was real (I know my fav. actor's handwriting) and I bet on it and stayed there until the last 5 seconds and bet again but someone got it first!!!!verymad If only I could get my hands on that book......MUAHAHA! :wicked:

i reelly really really want the dvd but unfortunately i'm in france when it comes out so I can't get it in the first week. Its unfortunate really coz me and my friend were going to camp outside the shop till it opened. (our parents soo wouldn't have let us but...). My friend has reserved it though so we'll watch it as soon as we get back. I'm starting to get withdrawel (sp?) simtoms alreadycoz they stopped showing it already + I haven't been lucky enough to get a pirate off anyone (so if anone has one...!!!) I've seen it 6 times in the cinema

Hmm yes indeed. As for the dvd I dont think you will ahve reserve it, not if you live ina big city, they will have plenty.
